The writers are so brain dead on how to subtlety write romantic chemistry between two characters that they threw Thymes entire character out the window. They could have easily fixed this by having the purple mermaid be flirty and confident towards Thyme, have her blush, then make an annoyed groan and turn the other way. Showing to the audience Thyme might like her, but she buried her feelings deep down inside. (which is something Thyme would do).

Coral is basically a fusion of Rosemary, Sage, and Parsley. That's why Thyme is immediately attracted to her (despite being the least interesting looking merfolk among the trio), Thyme actually has crushes on all of her "friends," and that one mermaid is a perfect blend of all three of them (Rosemary's hair color, Sage's face, and Parsley's stature).

Honestly, I think the ship was unnecessary. There were so many other plot lines happening in this episode and the writers decided to throw in a brief, unimportant crush for Thyme to have. If they wanted to give Thyme a love interest, this episode wasn’t the best place to introduce one. Hey, High Guardian Spice "fan" here (I like the show, but not enough to deny that it has problems), and I personally don't think it's sad that this would be what you consider the best ship. For me, I personally ship Rosemary x Sage (Rosemage), and even if I personally think it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be, it's nice to find at least one video after it's been a year since the show aired, and no word on whether the show is cancelled, thus ending the whole thing in a cliffhanger, or if it's getting a second season for the possibility of the crew learning from their mistakes.
