The procedure on this recipe is perfect for someone that has a lot of time on their hands. More like a hobby, or a great fun time adventure with kids being creative in the kitchen. Fits in the category of someone who likes to knit and have all the time in the world to do it. I use to make tortillas as a kid and all the ingredients I had was flour, water, butter or whatever cooking oil we may have had in the house. Trust me, it looked and tasted just as good but I don't remember spending that much time to do it. It definitely takes patience in this video just to watch it.

You obviously don't work outside your home and have plenty of time to devote to cooking. Good for you! That's a true blessing in this world of being a wife, mom, housekeeper, shopper, bill payer, taxi driver, etc. The video took @8 mins to watch. Probably about 15-20 mins to make 1. If you have 5 people in your family, making these, AND THE REST of a healthy dinner is a real miracle! Making these 3x a week? I stand in awe of how much time you have.

I've often wondered how to make dough that is multilayered like this one when cooked. I was intrigued by your procedure, but now it all makes sense. It's a great recipe that I'm going to try. I'm thinking i will use it like a traditional tortilla to pair it with chicken or something like beans. Many people had negative comments. I imagine those people never got in the kitchen and cooked anything that took more than 30 minutes to prepare. They rather buy some premade crap that has 20,000 ingredients they cannot pronounce than make their own healthier choice. Anyway, thank you for the video. I enjoyed it.

I think easy is a better term than simple. All the steps are relatively easy, but the amount of them and the repetition makes it not so simple. This recipe looks really good though, like an Indian recipe for Chapati almost. I think I might have to give it a shot. Yum.

The cornflour is so that the layers are still present even after cooking. It prevents all the dough becoming one mass and more like flat bread or a tortilla. The lamination of the dough or layers is facilitated by the corn flour. You’re gently pressing it into the outer layer of the dough, not incorporating it into the dough. They still want to see the rolls and swirl when flattened. The butter I think helps crisp the edges of the rolls in the bread, makes the lamination more pronounced. I’m pretty sure this is parantha bread ❤

This is everyday breakfast food in India Pakistan we eat this with cooked veggies curry or chicken goat curry , Sometimes we make with all purpose flour but mostly we make with wheat flour called paratha For recipe ▢ 2 cups stone ground whole wheat flour or all purpose flour ▢ ¾ cup warm water (or hot water, 2 to 4 tbsps more as required ) ▢ ¼ teaspoon salt ▢ 1 to 1½ tablespoons oil ▢ 2 to 2½ tablespoons melted butter or oil *Make a dough* Mix well to form a soft dough, splashing more water only as required. Knead the dough for a minute or 2. It has to be soft and not sticky or crumbly. Wet your hands and smear water all over the dough ball. Cover and rest for a minimum of 30 mins. You can leave up to 2 hours at room temperature. When you are ready to make the chapati, knead the dough until soft and pliable. If the dough looks dry, moisten your palm and knead. It should not be sticky. Divide the dough to 6 portions to make layered chapati or to 8 portions to make single layer chapati. Gently roll the balls in between your palms to smoothen them. Cover until you use up. Slightly flatten a ball and dip in flour to coat it with flour all over. Shake it gently to dust off the excess flour. Begin to roll the dough evenly without putting pressure. After 2 to 3 rolls, lift it and move it in clock-wise direction a little. Continue to roll it and then move it in clock-wise direction. If the dough begins to stick to the rolling pin or to the kitchen counter, sprinkle little flour. (not too much). If you want layering fold again as seen in video and roll again If you want single chapati Cook on heat pan by adding oil or butter Enjoy with vegetable curries or chicken curry.

In Arabic: الملوي المغربي We have another recipe that isn't time consuming which is "Msemen" or "المسمن المغربي". But That technique is special for Meloui and it's why it's called like that (Meloui comes from Moroccan Darija meaning rolled). It gives it a deliciousness of another level 🤤 We make it as a breakfast or kaskrot meal (Kaskrot is a meal time in Morocco between lunch and dinner) and present it with Moroccan mint tea. You can also eat it with olive oil, honey, or butter depending on your preferences ❤

This my friend is a south Asian recipe called paratha and you certainly do not have to go to such lengths to make it. Perhaps searching "paratha" will help you to find an easier version that is used by thousands of South Asians.

I grind up steel cut oats in a coffee grinder to make a flour, then dump it into a glass Pyrex bowl, then add enough water to just cover the mix. Then I microwave it for 5ish minutes until water is gone and the firmness is to my taste, like a non fluffy pancake cookie bread. Then I add things, like vanilla soy milk, frozen/fresh berries, usually blueberries, nuts, usually walnuts, and sometimes granola/trail mix cereals 👽🖖

Kindly guide me 2 things. 1)reason of using cornfiour in place of flour while rolling 2)multiple folding without applying butter ( butter applied on last fold).thanks for recipe.will try soon

I’m pretty sure this is paratha bread ❤

In India people cook it and several versions of it daily sometimes twice to thrice a day daily. All it takes is 15 minutes from kneading the dough to serving in your plate. At max 20 minutes. No need to rest at every step, but its good to rest atleast ten min. after kneading the dough as gluten can work better that way. Also, you do not need all purpose flour at all, not healthy. Wheat flour is the requirement. You do not have to roll it on the roller. Just roll the bread thin enough, apply butter or oil and fold round then roll again and cook. Its called Lachha Parantha (Parantha with layers).

The kitten playing at the end was the best part of this video. Way too much rolling and re-rolling, and that much cornstarch? Ick. Nobody got time for that! 😂 Nice to see how other people do things though.

I've never known that you're a cat lady too! Love it! I have 6. Yours are very pretty! Can you tell me where you got the wooden scratcher with the numerous balls that they can bat around?
