Edit: Went on a long personal tangent. Basically, I wanted to say congratulations on over 250k subs. Honestly, I can’t even remember all the years I’ve been subbed. I’ve never been in a position finically, where I felt comfortable becoming a paetron. But you’re the first person, I would constantly recommend to others, any time I made a new account, you’d be the first one I subbed to. Having a brittle bone disease, I’ve been fairly limited. But, I’ve gotten to live in Japan, couch surf across the country ( not the smartest move, medically speaking lol.) But I’ve had countless pretty low lows. And there was a point I was reading OP not because I was enjoying it, but just because I was reading it. But you were a pretty huge factor in getting me to enjoy it again years and years ago. And you were doing something, no one else at the time was really doing. Which was consistently using in world “logic”, patterns, and foreshadowing. Which, on forums people did, but now that’s common place to do lol. But a huge thing that you did, was you would privately reach out to theorists through forums and get their ok to post stuff, which was just the right and cool thing to do. Anyways. I think both buggy and shanks inheirited roger's will but due to some unfortunate timing for shanks and buggy being left in the dark by the roger pirates they both went about things differently in their pirate careers to bide time for joyboy to appear, one conciously the other subconciously. Buggy is a real Yonko, if just in spirit and heart. Buggy is not a physically threat but Buggy has always been cleaver and knows how to use people. Buggy D. Clown is a real pirate and beaten bloody and to 2 men who ARE physically Yonko level potentially in Crocodile and Mihawk; he calls out the fact they aren't acting like pirates.

@@DomTheSub24 No, Crocodile still shouldn't even be near Yonko level. He lost to pre-gear Luffy. Water weakness should have been overcome by haki if he was a yonko, but he lost. Imagine Kaido or Bigmom losing just because their df got nullified to water by a pre-gear Luffy.

I loved the panel of Mihawk recognising Luffy as a Yonko. He fought the straw hats 1. commander in the east blue and folded him. He fought the straw hats captain at marineford and folded him. But he was the one who saw Luffys true strength that makes him the best captain/leader in the world. There is no better character in the story to show the straw hats growth then Mihawk.

Agreed, Croc is definitely wealth. He is financing the entire Cross Guild operation. I think Buggy accidentally represents fame as he unwillingly became the figurehead of of Cross Guild, literally represented by their new ship in this chapter. It will be interesting to see if Oda will point out that it is not meaningful to seek out wealth, fame, and power via the journey of these three characters. It is after all what Gol D. Roger left behind, perhaps metaphorically in terms of his dreams.

I'm proud of Buggy for pursuing his dream despite being completely out of his league. His charismatic personality is his ticket to Laugh Tale. All 4 current Yonko I believe have this charisma unlike their predecessors. People what to follow them because they believe they believe it's the path to achieve their own dreams. Cross Guild to me are the underdogs and I'm looking forward how Oda is going fill in the gap for Buggy to make him a contender. I can see some powerful characters following him.

Cross Guild looks like the underdogs to us because we know about the poneglyph requirements and Buggy's true level of (in)competence. But if we were living in the One Piece world, right now we would probably think that Buggy is a strong contender for pirate king if not the front runner. Cross Guild has probably destabilized the marines more than any other pirate crew since Marineford by a large margin and they did it in such a simple and easy way. Plus he's famous for some of the same reasons Luffy and Blackbeard are famous. Not to mention his direct ties to Shanks and Roger or that he's a known mutual rival/frenemy of Luffy. And as far as the whole world, including his crew, is concerned, Buggy is definitely the captain with Crocodile and freakin' Mihawk as underlings. The way Oda set things up is super interesting to me. Buggy being seen as a Yonko in-world makes perfect sense despite how ridiculous we all know it is. And who knows, maybe Crocodile and Mihawk will come around to seeing him as a real partner, and if that happens they might honestly have a real shot at Laugh Tale.

I think that Oda is proving something. Even though you may get mad, sad, or angry, it's irrelevant when compared to your smiles and happiness. (Most) People won't watch a show or read a manga for 100 episodes, let alone over 1,000, if it only made you feel bad. I'm certain I'm not the only one that smiled and cried at the same time. The humor, joy, and love seem to always overwhelm the sad in this story (Sabaody aside). One Piece, as you said to start, is about humor. It's an extremely powerful tale reminding us (maybe Oda himself) that the best things in life are usually only hidden behind one's own hesitance. Everyone has a dream, if you don't chase it you'll never catch it.

When Sabo said they could be in danger just by hearing it, I wonder how anyone would know that they heard the information, unless someone, likely Imu, has a far stretching "mantra"/ observation haki like Enel that can circumnavigate the planet. Maybe the red line assists with this like a SAT or radio tower since it also rounds the entire planet. I dunno maybe I'm reading too deeply into Sabo's words but could be something there.

Buggy's development of finding his passion to be KoP again makes me feel that buggy will find laughtale first by accident but wont be able to enter until shanks and luffy shows up shortly afterwards. Garp isnt the leader of sword but the god knights or one of the gorosei could be a sword leader imo, and am i the only person that wants TBone to actually be dead as him having a fakeout death would undermine the impact that cross guild is having in the last saga. Its gonna be hype to see dragon finally make his move after sabo shares what happens at the reverie, i pray it isnt offscreened

Mihawk probably respected Buggy more after the chapter. Buggy declared his ambition even when being tortured. Mihawk himself maybe started going after the One Piece but was really just interested in being the world's strongest swordsman. He realized he needed to gather strong crewmates, defeat all the emperor's and their crew and deduce the locations of the road poneglyphs. Here comes a weakling in Buggy that knows all that and goes after the One Piece anyway. Mihawk might even want Buggy to be the pirate king.

I used to be a Zorro fanboy but since this chapter am a 100% all for Buggy haven't stopped talking about him since. Buggy is gonna be the Pirate King his Haki will surpass everyone sure of it and am not troll taking like people talking about Usopp and Condoriano and stuff. It makes a lot of sense for Shanks to not pursue the One Piece. So an issue I have been having with chapter is the Buggy/Shanks flashback scene is that I had assumed at the very least that one of the member's of the Roger Pirates would have mentioned to them about the fact that they arrived on the island too early, meaning Shanks not wanting to become King of the Pirates immediately makes sense since it would be pointless to do so until the time was right. The fact that Buggy seems to not be aware of this seems odd to me, unless he truly only cares about the treasure the One Piece could provide him and was willing to ignore all the other details of the situation, which at this point in time I don't think he would have been.

I've been noticing a trend across many of JB's theories which I am curious about. There seems to be a pattern that the World Government is somehow justified or can rationalize their many actions in the past with regard to piracy. That this authoritarian regime must exist, and that the story will ultimately align with and reinforce the ideals of order. That there MUST be some kind of grayness to them at some point, as opposed to the government itself just being corrupt to the core. Just something I'm curious about now with his readings of things as the story seems very clearly aligned against authoritarianism.

Hear me out: The person CARRIBOU is trying to get favour with is BUGGY D. CLOWN (or crocodile). If the cross guild is getting involved in the hunt it makes sense that Carribou who knows everything the Straw Hats know would be the way the actually get the necessary things to compete for the throne (poneglyphs, ancient weapons, etc.) He could steal them from the straw hats if he hasnt already

Buggy may be weak, but he is extremely valuable to croc and Mihawk, because he has 1 ability they both don't: the ability to always rally people behind him, just like luffy.

Mihawk carries the Strength of a Yonko. Crocodile carries the Wealth of a Yonko. Buggy carries the Fame of a Yonko. If you remove any one of these three, the Cross Guild will fall apart in no time. As for the World Government’s view on them. They know that Mihawk is of no threat to them, as he holds no drive to rule. They know Crocodile is more of a threat, but he’s been basically of no consequence to them for decades. However, Buggy is the Wild Card. A former crew mate of the Pirate King, who climbed from a nobody to a Warlord and finally a Yonko who’s worshipped like a God in just 2 Years. There is no wonder they fear him more than they fear Mihawk or Crocodile.

The marine's primary goal is not to protect the people, it is to protect the status quo, and protecting the people is only a consequence of that because it is (implicitly) the deal: we are legitimate in your eyes because we protect you from pirates. When it comes to Wealth, Fame and Power I feel like Croc is Power since he wanted Pluton in his introduction, Mihawk is fake for being known as the world's greatest swordsman and Buggy is wealth for his obsession with treasure

I agree that Mihawk is fake. Maybe, at one point, he was the world's greatest, but he's been resting on his laurels. He refuses to duel with Shanks on the excuse that he's not interested in fighting a one-armed swordsman. Shanks should be insulted by that, but I think he senses what Mihawk senses. Shanks is so far beyond him that it would be a very short, and possibly humiliating fight. It may come to the point where Mihawk loses to someone ridiculously weak, like Shiryu, who is only strong because he has the clear-clear fruit (what sort of real swordsman needs such a gimmick), and he has to confess to Zoro that he stopped being the best a long time ago, forcing Zoro to reach even higher.

​ @ShadowMage3D I think the issue is that by swordsmanship alone, I imagine Mihawk is superior. Shanks doesn't have the goal to be the best Swordsman, he wants to visit Laugh Tale. Where I think Shanks is superior is their ability with Haki. I don't doubt that Mihawk is the Worlds Strongest Swordsman, his strongest form is Observation Haki and as of right now we haven't seen him even use Conquerors Haki. We don't know if he can see as far into the future as Shanks with Observation Haki. But even so, the two were rivals back when Shanks had his better arm. I have zero doubts that Shanks was probably strong or just as strong as he is now. As such, I think the only way these two could be rivals is if Shank's Haki is so crazy that his abilities can be pushed to match with Mihawk. In the end, we know the one to fight Mihawk will be Zoro and the one to fight Shanks will be Luffy. Given that nothing happens to Shanks before then or someone doesn't overthrow/kill Mihawk before the final battle between Mihawk and Zoro, something I doubt will happen as it would ruin a fight hyped up for years. Though if he's just overthrown, I guess the fight could still happen before Zoro fights the true strongest swordsman.

You mentioned the Marines doing what they can to keep the system working despite the consequences, and they still believe in it. Sabo has shaking news about something hidden within the system that no one is supposed to know about. And he was silenced in earlier chapters before he could broadcast it. If the Marines find out about what Sabo knows, they could be shaken up and retaliate against their own government. At least that's how I see what could happen in the future. The common enemy trope near the end of the story.

While I agree overall on the three captains of cross guild emphasizing wealth, fame, and power, I'd argue that buggy represents fame more. He wants the wealth, sure, but some of his rise to power is due to his relationship to Roger and Shanks. And his show during marineford that allowed the world to see him.

The funniest thing about Cross Guild is that it only works because Buggy is there. The crew clearly respects Buggy a thousand times more than they do Crocodile or Mihawk so if they decide to off Buggy the whole crew will fall because loyalty supersedes fear and intimidation. And all of them having one aspect of the very first thing everyone heard when starting one piece is *chef's kiss* I definitely believe Buggy will legitimately be known as the Pirate King while Luffy would technically be the actual Pirate King lmao Also, can we talk about how this is the first time we ever see ANYONE claim a bounty? Besides Blackbeard turning in Ace to become a warlord. Kinda wild considering how long the story has been going for

This chapter confirmed why Buggy is the Yonko. Crocodile is too untrusting to lead, and Mihawk doesn't have the pirate mentality. Buggy has the Rizz showed by his orginal crew and impel down escape. He has the Roger pedigree even if he doesn't feel it. And he never really given up on hos ambition throughout the series. He does have the making of a good pirate king, and I hope we get a Buggy Luffy alliance agaisnt blackbeard because he kills shanks.

Luffy giving Buggy the wealth of the One Piece is the most Luffy thing I can think of. They will find it together. Nami will be mad and we will get a touching moment between the two rivals. Shortly after Buggy leaves with the treasure his boat gets sunk by a stray cannon ball. Whole crew drowns but no one is around to see it so it becomes legend. This is the humor and gravity I expect from Oda haha.
