Yes you can use any beans, chickpeas would work well too! Or leave them out x

I cooked this last night. Everyone enjoyed it although they all assumed it was rice. It's nice to be able to add one more dish to the menu. x

One question --it looks as though you store oils and spices on the shelves inset on either side of your AGA. Do you find that the warmth from the range compromises them, or is it fine to store whatever you wish close to the AGA? Again, thanks for the lovely recipes, looking forward to enjoying some fall feasts.

That side of my Aga is the module that I only use in summer so it isn’t hot there, I wouldn’t keep them there if that end of the Aga was constantly on. Really hope you enjoy cooking the recipes xx

Put a glass/cup of water beside your chopping board when chopping onion/shallots - it stops your eyes watering!
