I love your advice about not letting your plants boss you around. I find myself repeating that to myself every time weakness sets in. Thanks to you my garden looks so organized now. I am ready for the next growing season to start.

Just want to take the time to say "thank you" for all of your planting advice and encouragement. During the Covid isolation period, you were a big relief from loneness not only for me but friends that I got on board with viewing you on KZbin. I live in Zone 9 A (North FL) and cried when I learned those beautiful, purple alliums would not grow here! Keep up the good work with the videos.

Oh my goodness, the timing of this video is PERFECT!! One of my daughters has gone to stay with her sister and husband for a few months in Mystic, CT. and she has left me with several succulents to take care of! They have been sunning and happy on our back patio, but this week the temps in Kentucky are going to drop! I have never brought plants indoors before and after watching one of your videos, realized I needed to clean them first...This was just the video I needed to see!! My plan was to get started on this tomorrow...So, I will run out and get some mild, organic soap and have at it!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! See ya on Wednesday for your "walk about"...AND, Stewart!! LOL

Linda, please explain how you care for your outdoor topiary in the winter (water, feed, etc..). I’d love to see a video on this. I have two small boxwood, a lemon cypress and Rosemary topiary. I’m planning to leave outside here in north Texas zone 8a, but will move to sheltered area on nights that freeze.

Linda, this is brilliant! I love the ‘splash in the pool’ idea. I have used insecticidal soap but it has a bug spray kind of smell. This is so much more natural. 😍

When we had the last big heat wave in Florida a few weeks ago, I brought in several plants to keep them from dying from the dry heat. Welk, surprise, I haven't had any bugs, but I have captured and released 6 tiny little lizards this week. I'm sure a couple more are lurking, so hope the will manage any insects I missed. It always amazes me how differently we have to tend our plants from one state to another! And honestly, I prefer the lizards🙂

I fear earth worms lizards and frogs (and eggs) would die in the soapy water, so I'm torn. That's probably much less likely with stone mulch, but very likely with the bare soil on my tropical plants that are outside when it's warm. I'm in a humid zone 7, where there's an abundance of skinks and frogs.

Very helpful video. And I need to comment on that striking gray post & fence in the background; such a unique but good choice. It let's the plants and the other garden elements stand out more. I might steal that idea someday! 😁 I'm heading to the compost site to drop off bags of vigorous pruning and removal of tree volunteers in my flower bed. The young Locust trees and their spikes took revenge on my legs and arms. The squirrels "planted" Black Walnut trees everywhere. Maple trees galore everywhere too. 🙄 My dwarf Honeysuckle sent new shoots/plants everywhere in my rock garden, after years of being happy where it was. I think the neighboring River Birch grew large enough it made the Honeysuckle want to move toward more sunshine. I cleared almost half of the area and reclaimed the boulder they hid with their overgrowth. It just started freezing overnight in Central Minnesota, and most of the leaves are still on the trees. I love Fall, but it's a very busy time for yard work. Have a good weekend everyone. 💜

Thank you Linda, great timing. I have many tropicals that I was debating if to bring indoors but was worried about all the insects that I would be inviting in or if to risk leaving outdoors and hope they survive 7B winter. Will do this and overwinter in my bathroom, so happy you did this for us.

Before knee replacement, do exercises for the knee like sit-stands, or tailgating, which is sitting on a raised surface and swinging your legs. Things that you don't do before surgery will be harder after surgery. Good luck. Both my replacements went well.

Thank you for a very informative video, Linda! And your camera work was just fine. For the taller topiaries, could you use a tall garbage can? Of course, you'd have to have some kind of rope system or rack to lift it out of the garbage can, but ... maybe. 🤔 Thanks again for the videos, Linda.🌸🌿

I’m hoping my first topiary I’ve ever had makes it through the winter. I put it in my unheated north facing sunroom. I do open door from house to sunroom during the day but totally cold out there at night. It’s an Eugenia topiary and I’m worried it’s not getting enough sun. I’m in zone 7 In Tennessee

Thank you so much for posting this! I am wanting to bring a sansevieria inside to stay and wasn't sure how to get rid of bugs. 1. Since they don't like to be in wet soil, would this still be ok for plants like sansevieria? 2. Do you just strain the bath water and pour down an indoor tub or do you drain down the driveway?
@LindaVater

I think a one time situation with a Santa Verey’s I would be fine. I would just pour the water into the grass or the flower bed or wherever. When she strained out the bugs, it shouldn’t be a problem.
