Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we get back on the progression grind on Project Ascension's Chapter 3 and end up trying the "Chinese Casino Slammer" build, which ends up being a TRUE one-button build that is actually viable.
This build is actually a lot of fun and uses very interesting enchants like Dreadnaught and Stormgarde while spamming Slam to devastating effect.

That ending at BM was hilarious to me xD The amount of times I've gotten that dungeon on RDF just for the tank get absolutely crushed by the 2nd or 3rd boss and then watch as the tank or healer immediately bails and the group quickly disbands... it would be comical if not so common

I noticed a couple of days ago that they had added slam to stormgarde, and thought "well that's gotta be OP". There might be another hidden mechanic for it with a tank, but I've been slow to level a character to test it

I agree totally with the high-risk PvP thing. Let the gear stay, but make the bounty your gold and inventory items, make tradeskill's very important as well. People want gold, if you make killing other players the best way to get it, you'll incentivize PvP just fine. I get a shiny sword with either PvP or PvE, so why do I care how I get it? PvP has always been more about titles and fun than gear. They should add gold-betting mechanics like Rust, make inventory drops the focus (keep your stupid purples that everyone has), and nail down the OP builds. It could totally work.

I definitely agree with the idea of removing the PVP gear grind. As it does deter new people from joining PVP later in the season as you'll encounter many players who have already completed the gear grind and will just decimate you. I do think that Project Ascension should take a better stance PVP build balancing as there have been numerous seasons where certain builds were just too strong compared to others. I'm thinking of some of the archer/ranger builds from last season especially. Anywho love the vids Mcdubs and keep up the great work!

I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I wanted to finally try Actis/Fuego but then I realized they nerfed it into a 4 button spec that you could macro into one button if you wanted (maybe two to be safe) I was sorely disappointed. Wish I didn't miss out on the old version. ~Velos

I tried it out, few comments: The Blinkstrike, while cool, is super lackluster percentage of your total damage. Same with sword spec, for 5 talent points invested. Since hack n slash in rogue tree is 1h axes as well, wouldn't you be better off using axes for 6% extra attack, 5% crit, 5% crit damage? Pole RE for 7% more crit in total over sword spec.

I'm jealous of the simplicity of the casino build. I agree with removing pvp gear. However pvp needs a reward to replace the gear, if your reason for removing the gear is to open pvp to everyone, I think it will be more detrimental as there will be less reason to for people to farm honor - thecreation

But anyway the main mechanic of the build is to use the combo-point shield strike (Shield slam) of Hoplite with Power Loop's maelstrom weapon/combo point system it has to constantly unleash Stormgarde's aoe and instant-cast chain lightning/lightning bolt from maelstrom weapon in an almost endless 'power loop' so to speak lol

I think in a perfect world you simply wouldn't have both. It would require a redesign of how we interpret stats. It's just a limitation of private server content, especially Classless where all stats are available

@@Mcdoubles I have deeply thought on how to differentiate Str vs Agility stats. Possibility 1: Agility becomes the “hybrid stat” with talents that convert AGILITY to SPELLPOWER and to Spell Crit. Agility could just give good amounts of spell crit now also. In combination with Mental Quickness, and potentially other Agility increasing/conversion talents, this would become the main stat/talent build type for any melee/caster hybrid. Strength would not have any direct Strength to Spellpower talents but could be provided in LREs if necessary so it would stay as the pure melee dmg stat and should be designed around such. Possibility 2: Differentiate Agility and Strength by weapon type. Agility = 1hd weapons and Str = 2hd weapons. Make it so agility doesn’t provide as much attack power benefit to 2hd weapons and the same for Str to 1hd weapons. This could be different for specific weapon types as well like 1hd Tank weapons can be affected by Str and 2hd Staffs with agility can be affected by agility etc. I personally think this isn’t as good as Possiblity 1. But, These ideas could also be combined. They kinda tried to do this with the Stat type weapon choices but I think this should be done within the talents. I would like to see specific Weapon type talents like Sword Spec or Axe Spec have something for Hybrids “if agility stat” etc. this can be expanded to every stat type for every weapon type. Try to do these changes within the spell talents as well instead of the stat type bonuses as both spells and melee take a significant investment to reach maximum potential. Agility to Spell Crit could be added to the “spell crit damage increasing” and Agility to Spellpower could be added back to Mental Quickness. How to design each stat differently: Agility could be designed to do less melee damage compared to str, have Spellpower conversions, require less Hit investment and naturally achieve a HIGH amount of Crit without any extra investment. This would make it easier for hybrid Agility/Spellpower users to achieve needed stats so they can instead, use the talents for their spell investments. Str could do much more melee damage, have no Spellpower conversion, require higher hit rating investment and also need to invest in talents/gear to achieve high crit. (Like it does right now) Not saying these are “what needs to happen” but just talking about ideas to hopefully get our creative minds flowing. There’s so many possibilities and it takes so many iterations to find the “best” solution which still may not be perfect. If that was possible in 1 KZbin comments, there would be no problems anywhere.

Actual i do in bgs an swashbuckler Piraten with reckoning hack n Slash and sword spec with melee haste melee attackspeed and blurred blade(slice n dice) and as long as i face the enemies one on one i own 100% of the time oh and only stuff i need actual is windfury weapon HE hit a not normale and do a not of extra hits plus unfair advantage, and as active skills riposte revenge counterattack in combination of Hammer the tap and execute^^ mostli i kite them walking backwards and the skill themselves^^

I don't know if taking out gear completely from PvP would work for Ascension. In regular WoW it might work because what armor you wear is predetermined but in ascension you can choose which armor type you want to wear, if you want to focus on a singular stat or go hybrid, if you want one weapon or two and so on. Also given how unbalanced PvP in ascension is would you even enter a bg if you had nothing to gain in terms of progression if only PvE progresses my character then I am only going to do PvE if I open up ascension that said all of these are just thoughts and I would try out gearless pvp. Maybe I am wrong and it is a blast

Sort of a thought as to why PVP on WoW-based games tends to suffer low player counts and this is just a theory on my part, but any game where out-of-match playtime affects in-match outcomes just rubs the bulk of gamers the wrong way now. On WotLK classic, if you're a warrior and not doing 25 ToGC full heroic clears every week, you're less effective in PVP cause the best weapons, trinkets, etc aren't from PVP. Likewise, even if let's say JUST PVP is the best way to progress for PVP, there's still the issue of you get more gear the more time you put in, ergo someone who, lets say, has really good skill, but has a life and doesn't want to sacrifice their health for arena rating is going against people who are going to out gear them because of out-of-match factors. Take every popular PVP focused game today League, CS:GO, Fortnite, DOTA 2, COD, Valorant, etc don't break this one rule. Everyone starts the match at 0. Sure there's cosmetics but those don't affect outcomes the way gear does in WoW. In say Fortnite, yeah there's technically gear progression, but it's all in the same match and once the match is over, you and everyone else are put on the same playing field again at the start of a new one, leaving it to skill and game knowledge. Sure, I only gave 2 Genre's as an example, so maybe WoW style games just aren't popular for PVP in general anymore because of mechanics, but I highly doubt that and it's more to do with power progression being wack. -Moisturemage PS: Just got to the part of your PVP section where you mention Lost Ark and how they make gear a non-factor for PVP and yeah, that's pretty much the way of the future IMO if Ascension, or even Blizzard WoW want a solid playerbase for PvP.

I think the way pvp gear worked in MoP would be the best way to make things work. Sadly pvp without a gear grind ends up dead as shit like in GW2. Though i love the idea, removing a sense of progression makes a player feel like they are just slogging on pointlessly. These are just my observations ofc. I played pvp religiously when I mained wow retail from mop to shadowlands and the way gear was handeled in shadowlands just broke me as pvp lover. I can't say removing it is the way to go as much as I'd love to. It just won't feel right playing pvp with no real feeling of getting stronger as you grind honor and eventually conquest to get that next piece that will having you slapping harder than you are right now.

Because if someone who’s doing ascended or mythic will inherently have an advantage over a new player just as a geared pvper in pvp gear. I mean if they just have gear sets when you load in that’d be something, but I would imagine on a technical level that might be quite something to implement.
