Think about this - the porch deck would be so great for the kids to ride their tricycles on. Why not build an extension only for the hot tub off the deck with a gate where the children can not get into it. It would only be a small project for Trent. Just thinking about the next few years of small children & tricycles.

To fix the snow blower nicks on the old deck use an UV resistant epoxy paint of the same color. Even helps on the new to protect it.

The deck roof has already protected you all from the rain and hail, plus it looks good even though it still needs to be finished. What great gifts from viewers around the world.

What would have looked amazing on that new deck section would have been to 45 it across the corner. One single board going from the corner post to the corner of the house and the rest of the side and the remaining section of the front deck butting into it. Perhaps Trent could come up with a way to raise the snowblower base up an inch or so so it clears the deck surface. I would come up with a storage tray to park it on when it is not in use that has side wheels so it could be rolled around to the side of the deck out of the way when not in use. Perhaps an underfloor heating system could be installed under the deck that warms the deck underneath just enough that the snow does not pile up but melts off.

When we first moved to Mexico, we rented while we built our home. The rental was great, big enough, and had fine porches that were worthless when it rained, because one was uncovered and the other was a Pergola style covered porch. When we built, we fixed that, and you have too. Awesome.

The optical illusion created by the porch making your decking look so much larger, is incredible.
