The simple earth curve calculator is h=r*(1-cos a). Then it is upon the person to apply this in nature using the steps of the scientific method. This can be done at any large body of water at rest on a clear day looking at distant objects across the water and researching their distance from the observer to calculate the curve that should be obsructing the object. What will be observed is that there is no convexity of the water which lays flat and level and will never match the heliocentric required curve of h=r*(1-cos a), and you get to enjoy a nice day outside on the beach.

Good fun! You definitely have the mind of a physicist! Two things I noted and liked from the video: From experience, it seems that generally it's a relatively *unknown* anecdote amongst the general public, that the original definition of the metre as defined by the SI (or rather, their predecessors emerging from revolutionary France) was such that the distance from the equator to the poles would be exactly 10,000 km, providing a universal length and a unit of length that would be "for all people, for all time". Once one learns this anecdote, they're unlikely to forget either it, or the circumference of the earth, whereas I imagine just memorising the radius of the earth is the sort of thing that just falls out of peoples' heads on a regular basis. Two, also from experience, when interacting with ChatGPT, you correctly point out that generally it's a good idea to have some sort of reasonable idea of what the answer should be beforehand, lest you be led astray. An enormous amount of my own queries have follow-up questions that go along the lines of "yes, but it isn't it the case that ________ is true/doesn't apply in this scenario", or with mock naïvety saying something like "oh, that's strange, I thought the answer would rely on the fact that ________", etc. and getting an "apology for my confusion" and a brand new answer that's far more plausible. Point being, that like so many advanced tools, ChatGPT is a godsend and a huge timesaver, but only when you *already* know the fundamentals, but very easy to get led down the garden path or completely stuck if you can't tell a plausible answer from nonsense. There are so analogous situations to this in the world that are fun to recognise, e.g. * Understanding computer architecture, low level programming languages and fundamental algorithms before graduating to the real world of high-level languages, automatic memory management, and solving every problem by downloading a library to do it for you. * Understanding calculus and linear algebra etc. before getting Mathematica to solve all these problems for you. * First developing a keen ear and a tactile connection to the music to allow beatmatching two records manually or playing in time, hearing when something is out of tune, or when a frequency in a track needs to be attenuated, rather than relying on SYNC buttons and automatic tools to do this for you, again at least at first. I call this the ladder principle, after Wittgenstein's statement at the end of the Tractatus that: "My propositions serve as elucidations in the following way: anyone who understands me eventually recognizes them as nonsensical, when he has used them-as steps-to climb beyond them. (He must, so to speak, throw away the ladder after he has climbed up it.) He must transcend these propositions, and then he will see the world aright."

A calculation like this is not difficult for me, so I'll do it. I don't know what the shape of just the blue part at 3:33 is, but let's call it a semihemisphere. Thus, a is the radius of the base of the semihemisphere, h is its height, r is the radius of the total sphere, and theta is the angle between the rounded tip of the semihemisphere and the sharp edge between the round part and the flat circle of the semihemisphere (vertex at sphere center). We have that sin(theta) = a/r, and in this case we can definitely use the small angle approximation and still be left with many digits of precision. Thus, theta = a/r. Now, since h + (r)cos(theta) = r, we have that h + (r)cos(a/r) = r, thus h = r(1 - cos(a/r)). The Taylor series for cos(x) is 1 - (x^2)/2 + (x^4)/24 - ..., but we still get many digits of precision by assuming cos(x) = 1 - (x^2)/2 due to x^4 being negligible compared to x^2. Thus, h = r(1 - (1 - 0.5(a/r)^2) = r(0.5)(a/r)^2 = (a^2)/(2r). This gets us all the precision we need, and thus h = ((50mm)^2)/(2*6371000000mm) = 0.196nm. ChatGPT was way off. This is much smaller than the irregularity of the light filter, assuming 380nm is correct. We can plug the exact value 6371000 - 6371000*cos(asin(0.05/6371000)) into wolfram alpha to see if I was lying about precision, and my approximation matched wolfram alpha's answer for 17 digits.

@@AudioMasterclass If the 50mm diameter filter cap is flat, and it has a maximum height difference of 380nm, then since a 50mm diameter level circle on the earth's surface has a maximum height difference of only 0.196nm, the earth is about 2000 times flatter that the filter cap. It does sound strange that assuming Earth to be a sphere leads to the conclusion Earth is flat, but we can't argue with numbers. It looks like Earth is flat.

Imagine if Harland & Wolff had built a cruise liner ten miles long, with a draft of nearly seven feet (for argument's sake), and it’s putting to sea for the first time. Assuming the globe model curve calculation of eight inches per mile squared, over ten miles the drop would be 66.66 (67) feet. Here’s the problem; what is the sea level profile of our luxury liner in the water? Are the bow and stern both 30 feet in the air or either one 60 feet in the air? Or do both remain floating and the sea water rises to 30 feet in the centre risking flooding of the lower decks? Now imagine if H&W had even more ambitious plans to build a ship 100 miles long; could you still call it a ship or is it now classed as a submarine? Welcome on-board the Lie’tanic! I was immediately shot down by the lecturer as a flat earther. The correct anwser was in fact an ellipse, but most calculations we did at A level had used parabolas because the maths is simpler and the answer is close enough for most purposes.

8"/mile² is a parabola curve equation which is close to the sphere trig of h=r*(1-cos a) out to almost 500 miles where they deviate exponentially. Your professor used a shame tactic of superior intellect and failed to then apply these in nature using the scientific method to see if earth curve is observable to match either formula. The best place to do this is at any large body of water at rest on a clear day and it shows there is no convexity and will alao show other fascinating optical effects depending on the humidity/temp/light of day or other factors. Like a dinner plate say. Intellectually this sounds right to me. However from the first day of school as a five year old, I was introduced to the spinning globe on its stand. So the indoctrination began and has continued to this very day 71 years later. I believe the flat earth model and have for many years once I shook off the indoctrination....

@@Ben-no4lz So tell me Ben, have you observed that the earth is actually round? Reference to it appearing curved out of airplane windows doesn't cut it. The glass is curved and gives the appearance of curvature. The pilots windows are flat by legislation and they get an entirely different view to a passenger. They get a flat horizon. There's plenty of vids on the interwebs showing the cockpit view of a flat horizon... Many experiments have been done which demonstrate the earth is flat, but none, as far as I'm aware of the opposite. "Movies" from NASA don't count because they've admitted that it's all photoshop. A pilot will tell you that pushing forward on the joystick all the time to hug the curve is erroneous. The attitude of a plane is nose up a few degrees all the way on level flight on any commercial or international flight. Nose up... No, I'm not convinced the earth is a ball except being told so for the past 76 of my years. I've seen nothing in all that time to convince me otherwise despite all the propaganda and brainwashing... Have you ever wondered why the so-called astronauts on the moon took hardly any pictures of Earth, when all they had to do was look up and click? They took plenty pictures of moon rocks and lunar dust and landscape. They went ballistic with their cameras, thousands and thousands of moon pictures, but nothing of the big blue ball just by looking up. The only extant pictures of Earth and so-called "Earth rise" are photoshopped or the equivalent of what was available in the 60's. The "famous" extremely contrived picture of an astronaut, a flag, and the Earth shows on closer inspection with the gamma turned up that the Earth was pasted into place. There is a clearly visible oblong surrounding this "Earth" which is a different shade to the rest of the sky. It's been added in. Not remotely questionable. So who is kidding who? The Webb telescope is manually controlled from Earth. Ever wondered why they don't turn the thing around and take magnificent pictures of Earth. But no, not one. They can do it, but haven't. Why not? Wouldn't the public love to see their home world in blazing colour? I would. But they won't because they're hiding something. Plenty of opportunities over the past 60 or so years. Sophisticated technology, but no pictures. I don't know the exact reason of course, but I could make a good guess... I don't have a horse in the race. The earth can be flat, square, a cube, rectangi-circuloid or banana-shaped for all I care. What I do like is truth, and I don't think we're getting it here...

Because anyone who has will confirm that you have to account for the curvature and rotation of the earth if you want to hit your target. Ever noticed how the stars rotate Anti-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere & Clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere? Literally only possible if the 2 hemispheres are on opposite side of a spinning globe. How do you explain timezones? Because if the earth was flat, sunrise/sunset would happen at the same time everywhere. Your pilot comment shows you have the same grasp of basic Geometry as the average 6 year old. On a sphere with a circumference of 24900 miles, do you know how much of a “nose down adjustment” a plane would need to make in order to maintain a fixed altitude?…..0.0143 degrees per mile. Many laser experiments over vast inland lakes have shown some good results. Lasers being reflected by a mirror on the opposite shore. There was a recent KZbin clip where the guy did some measuring which showed two flat areas both in the US. One a lake and one across land distance. I wish I'd kept it or knew where it is. The lake one was very convincing, though I don't remember his measurement technique. Something to do with sonar or radar or something. I'll see if I can find it, and provided I don't lose you, I'll send a link.. Many land/sea observations using telephoto lens to show that a ship that has apparently gone over the curve is still there once zoomed in sufficiently. Now you don't see it, now you do. The Chicago skyline, where buildings should be seen as being underwater according to the geometry of what is it? 8 feet per mile squared. Seen from an opposite shoreline some 50 miles away, the foundations of these buildings spring back into view with a telephoto lens. Numerous examples exist... The Chicago example, a news anchor said "What you're seeing is a mirage" Mirages don't quite act that way sonny... With a skyline that is curving away from the viewer, the horizon should dip with it. But the horizon always stays at eye level. That's how you know you're on a flat plane... Theres a balloon experiment 100,000 feet or something, using a GoPro, with a straight lens not a fish eye lens. Rotated 360 degrees and a straight supporting rod acting as proof that the lens is not fish-eye, one sees a flat horizon 360 round. You also see the sun showing a localised hot spot on the clouds underneath, something a 93 million mile distant sun should not do, but that's for another conversation. Isaac Newton in his Principia Mathmatica wrote that we really don't know how far away the sun is and 93 million miles is as good a number as any other. Some good guesses have been made scientifically using parallax, but it's still not clear what the mean distance the sun is from Earth, assuming a ball. Recent declassified docs show the USAF and others conducted high altitude tests over the years "...assuming a flat non-rotating Earth." Maybe it was better to do the math this way rather than variables introduced by a rotating globe earth model I don't know, but it still begs the obvious question... I've given you several Mr EJ. Perhaps you'll return the compliment....?

"the earth is flat, but in nanometer scale" :) very nice! By the way, equinox is nearing, and it is the day flat-earth destroyed to the core. why? sun rises at exactly east (or say, 90 degree from north) everywhere on earth (not at the same time everywhere, that would be crazy. I meant its rise over a single meridian of course), which would cause "infinite suns" if they were true. One of many geometry things by which the sun destroys flat ideas.

Fun through satire, as the premise doesn’t make sense. The formula for the variation of curve of a flat lens, provided here, makes no sense when applied to a globe. The height from the globe’s center to all points on the globe is the same height- the radius. You cannot prove a surface is flat by using a formula that cannot be applied to globes (r is too large in all dimensions relative to surface variation). But this would make a great April Fools joke!

Did you run out of ideas? Ways to make fun of audiophiles who can hear differences that you can't; so let's make fun of them! Creativity is not something that grows on trees I guess. Flat is something you can photograph. Sound is "invisible"; fortunately for guys like you, who claim there is little to no differences, with things where there is improvement galore. Otherwise anyone could just take a pic and prove you wrong. Bad advice for audiophiles trying to get great sound. It's not hard to prove something is flat. If I recall, you can set something down on a flat surface and "magically" it will not roll off. Unless it's the top of Herman Munster's head, when he's not motionless. Al Lewis who played Grandpa "the Count," the "Vampire"and who sometimes changed into "The Vampire Bat", once ran for Mayor of New York. He lost because many people thought he was "too square."

Water is used to establish horizontal (that’s flat) planes of reference so we can build things as water finds and maintains level (that’s flat), we take an average of *sea level* to reference the heights of everything we have ever measured with respect to a flat earth….sea *level* Many globe claims use this flat earth proof to claim earth is a sphere, however we build on earth flat and use earth as a horizontal plane to navigate. See how my flat earth proof comes with a life saving example! Does your example have a practical use or does it just affirm your already established globe faith?! Earth is mapped and navigated flat using angles only possible on a flat earth. “Does not appear” … almost as good as “measured flat with angles 📐 to save lives at sea” 🤣 There are no elevation changes in celestial navigation, the system is a 2d flat plane, also used in GPS, it’s called the “Mercator projection” made using a globe projection of the flat earth angles to Polaris measured off a flat earth for the latitude grid. All angles (flat earth required) are measured to the stars and run parallel to the flat earth at all elevations. The stars truly are amazing! 🤩

Thank you for being moderately respectful. I will extend you the same courtesy when I cover this video. Earth is flat. You can only get elevation angle measurements 📐 from a flat plane, you can not get an elevation angle measurement from a sphere earth. It’s game over. Elevation angle measurement proves flat earth. The world was mapped flat and it is build on flat. If you are actually serious about looking into this subject look into celestial navigation. It’s how the world was charted using an angle measurement 📐 to Polaris. This gives you latitude. The you do the same with the sun for longitude. Earth must be flat to use this system, precisely as we do! You get that *radius value* you used in your sphere assuming maths, by measuring the minimum elevation angle (flat earth required) to Polaris (equator) the celestial sphere has all been measured with respect to a flat earth, more specifically the equatorial plane. Earth is measured flat. All globe claims including yours have their genesis in flat earth measurements to the stars. I’ll cover your video on my show one day next week, with specific focus on where you got that “radius” value you assumed….it was measured from a flat earth as detailed above. If you want more homework, ask yourself why maps are flat then look at “areas of equal altitude”. The equator is one! We use it for latitude as we approach Polaris the angle 📐 (flat earth required) increases with respect to the horizon, a tool also used in navigation for establishing earth flat so we can use it for angle measurement. Perhaps in your globe world of radius values measured off a flat earth you get angles (two straight lines) off a curved surface 🤔 nope! Earth MUST BE and is measured flat, even for your globe beliefs. As I say, I’ll cover your video in the next few days. You’ll know as I’ll send a bunch of viewers to like and comment on this video. Hope you can check it out. I’ve been covering the subject on KZbin for 10 years.
@NathanOakley1980

You can also get that *radius value* you assume using Al-Biruni’s method where he measured the height of a mountain *using angles off a flat earth* once he has these flat earth angles he can figure out the height of the mountain with trig, then assuming the ground he just *measured flat* now curves under the mountain he can then derive the differential between *eye level* (flat earth required) and surface *level* (flat earth requirement also). Again as stated above, earth was *measured flat* to get the Radius value assumed in your maths. It’s the same *eye level* and *surface level* differential that give you your begging the question, proof of nothing perspective hijacking, earth curve calculators. They too infer earth curve using a *radius value* measurement taken from a flat earth angle 📐 and uses it to give you a tangent point horizon below surface level (flat earth required) using the difference between *eye level* (flat earth required) and surface level (flat earth requirement also). As you can tell I have 100s of ways to show earth is measured flat, and every globe claim ever, will also use these flat earth measurements. Hope this helps.

@@MrCheswickMusic "can you practically demonstrate to your audience how a standing body of water, such as an ocean, can physically adhere & bend around a 1000 mph spinning ball floating in a vacuum? " Gravity. "A scaled down model will suffice" Sure, only problem is the first step would be to get rid of the earth, since it's this pesky mass attracting all the water to it. Of course you could just look at experiments done aboard the ISS, Chinese space station or zero-g flights that show water naturally forming into spheres. "If the earth is a pressurised environment, then how is that pressure being created?" Gravity. You never answered last time so I'll ask again: do you get some sort of perverse satisfaction from advertising your stupidity to the internet?

At least ‘flat earthers’ will fall off the side of the earth because they don’t believe the cables will help them out.

Sorry, I do have a different interpretation of what a flat earther is. I like your precision of literacy.

@@tubefreeeasyit’s called a stereotype fallacy. How flat an oblate spheroid is, is oxymoronic!

Silly and boring. Pointless and not fun for a second. Wrong assumptions lead to wrong conclusions. We already knew that.
