My parents generation held to the belief that "children were to be seen --- not heard" ; I remember being sent to my room every time my parents had "company" over ( _which was every weekend, religiously!!!_ ), and I was not allowed to exit that room, unless I had to go to the bathroom which was of course upstairs where our bedrooms were. Let me tell you, I read a lot of books, wrote my own little "stories" and painted a whole lot, cause back then, there were only 4 networks ( _channels_ ) on those B & W t.v's and there was nothing on except News, and aside from that ---- lights were off at 8 pm for me. I cant complain however, I had great parents, and a great childhood, because they kept me a "child" for as long as they could. 🙂

@Leena Stark If we had company, we had to be with the adults. We didn't go off and play. Rule was don't embarrass your parents. You had to be well read and carry a conversation. Company was also used to coach us kids on mastering the art of conversation. Though the Finnish side of me doesn't like frivolous talk, we bask in the depth of various topics.

My dad caught my sticking my tongue out at my mom when she turned around. He made me walk around all day, on a Saturday, with my tongue sticking out. 🤪😜 And then the a$$ whoppin. Good times, good times. My brother wore the Husky Boy jeans and i think the had reinforced knee pads.

8:59 That’s not too bad. My step son is 11 and he weighed over 170 lbs half a year ago. He’s probably not very far from 200 now. Not terribly tall. My husband’s 2XL shirts fits him well except a tad too long. When he was 10, he had to wear men’s large swimming trunk which he quickly outgrew. Craziest thing is that his doctor doesn’t seem concerned at all. This is the most sedentary child I have seen in my life so it can’t all toned muscles.
