Alan Watts is not the answer he is smart but will lead you in the wrong direction. Jesus is the Way, The truth, and the Life.
@Pickle-Rick3656 жыл бұрын
@@cksadler6041 Are you sure about that. . . Christians put faith in a man they have never seen before, a man so flawless and pure that everyone is trying to be like him. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to strive and be . . . The best or purest, I'm saying that Jesus may not be for everyone. Not everyone is going to put there belief in Jesus or God just because some book says that God made everything and millions of other people believe it. You might say then what do you believe in? I believe in myself and people, nature, and that every moment that passes by is special, the good and the bad. From the time when you weren't born to the time after you die. This universe is far to big to comprehend and to have a simple answer, if any answer at all. Is God the answer to this universe. . .God may be all powerfull, but who is God really? A man once said to me that God is love. Is he really love, for if God made all things could he not of made a world with only love? Or did he not make both good and bad? The question is rhetorical, obviously for there is good and bad, and therefore God must be or have made both.

I have lived with a religious family my entire life, I put my faith in God when I was young and ever since, I have had a hard time with the idea of God. Call it a spiritual battle if you want, but I feel like God is an idea, a very powerful idea that may be dangerous. @mikevanbasten87839 жыл бұрын
+Hari Patel Thanks a lot for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it. Could you delve a little bit more into that "the universe is acting itself as who you are". Did you meditate in order to get to this stage of awareness?
@x1plus1x9 жыл бұрын
+mike van basten The universe is acting (pretending) not to know who/what it is. This is why we as humans have a hard time seeing thru the act. It's as if an actor in a play didn't realize that he was acting and thought the play was for real. One way to help yourself realize this is to ask yourself: What would you do if you were god?" (Alan has a great piece on this topic). If you were god, in the sense that you knew everything and had control over everything.. you would be bored. There would be no interest in anything because everything would be known. If you were god, you might decide to fool yourself into thinking that you weren't god. The thrill of not knowing, the pleasure of finding things out, is much more interesting. I sometimes imagine it as the following: Before the big bang there was all knowing "consciousness". There was harmony among the forces of nature (gravity, nuclear forces, etc).. This was such an equilibrium that it was entirely uninteresting, boring and basically meaningless. So, it decides to expand itself, separate the forces of nature, and cause many interesting things to happen - in the process forgetting that all there is, is really the one original "consciousness". You are not a result of the big bang, you are the big bang. or In the beginning there was gray. Gray got bored so it separated itself into black and white. Except the black didn't realize that it was part of gray, and white didn't realize that it was part of gray either. Black and white fought for supremacy, but since they didn't realize that the ultimate reality was gray - neither could ever win.
@mikevanbasten87839 жыл бұрын
+x1plus1x Thanks for the comment, you explain it really well. What interests me the most is what happens after we wake up. I see two main options: after we wake up, when we die we will be reincarnated in another World, starting over the cycle again (as you wake up, you have learned everything from the planet you where in, so you go to another one to live many lives again and waking up in the end, and so on) . The second one is that we will be reincarnated in a "Heaven" where everyone is a spiritual being (awake and filled by life). In this place physical death exists, since we would be bored to live in the same life with the same body, etc. forever. So we die and when we are born again we can discover the World from zero again, which makes life interesting again. I think that either Planet Earth becomes a Heaven or we will destroy ourselves. If it becomes a Heaven, then all the people who woke up in the past will be able to live on this planet. If not, they will go to another planet which made it to become one. I see no reason for this Universe to exist, unless it exists for having fun and enjoy. If this is a joy-based Universe, the second option should be the right one. What are your thoughts on this? Do you know what Alan thought about it?

The atoms that comprise life on Earth, the atoms that make up the human body, are traceable to the crucibles that cooked light elements into heavy elements in their core under extreme temperatures and pressures. These stars, the high mass ones among them, went unstable in their later years. They collapsed and then exploded, scattering their enriched guts across the galaxy. Guts made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and all the fundamental ingredients of life itself. These ingredients become part of gas clouds that condense, collapse, form the next generation of solar systems, stars with orbiting planets. And those planets now have the ingredients for life itself. So that when I look up at the night sky and I know that yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up-many people feel small because they’re small and the universe is big-but I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars. There’s a level of connectivity. So when we die maybe we’re not leaving, maybe we’re just going home

I think to intuitively understand most of philosophy you need to intuitively understand some of the concepts of physics and the like. :) Because to be intuitive with physics is to see the world already in a wonderfully massive complex light where we are a mere speck, yet you need to find the middle ground and realise this without losing care of our own lives. If you can do that, Alan Watts lectures will mean so much more to you as you previously understand the scale of the universe etc

Have you ever seen a child react to themselves when they realize that who they are looking at in the mirror is them. That's sort of the same experience.

What he said about the past struck me. I think it's funny when cosmologists talk about the Big Bang happening 16 billion years ago, and debate about how the entire universe could have been squeezed into the size of a pea. It seems intuitive to me that such an event never occured, because consciousness is required for anything to exist. This "Big Bang" they talk about is actually the explosion of human consciousness. The universe is somehow a reflection of our minds. It's like that one dude wrote: the laws of gravity didn't exist before Newton.

I wish I would’ve heard him when I was a vibrant 20 year old. Although I’m sure the words wouldn’t have resonated as deeply as they do at 39. I wish I could cradle that young girl and make her realize that she was more than she was led to believe.

meditation by sitting down, and trying to meditate, prevents you from meditating, naturally. By getting so involved, you stop it from being, because you involve something in the being as if the being was incomplete. Trying to meditate is like trying to be yourself; neither work. To just Be, is to know who you are. Who are you? You can experience who you are through living. You are the undivided Self.
@tommytucker54649 жыл бұрын
What a load of nonsense. All kinds of people practice meditation as it is a skill that requires complete concentration of breathing and letting go. Your comment doesn't even make any sense, you just sound like a pretentious moron

It’s much healthier to listen to this , than educate ourselves as victims daily on the behaviour of the people that you are sick off . I agree it’s good to educate ourselves on what was happening to us as victims. But listening to these videos helps me understand myself , and not give any energy to the evil in the world. I suppose we really must try to work on ourselves , to heal. That’s if we’re allowed it. 🙏🏻👍🏻

After watching a few of Alan's words, and how he can change ones mind to what really matters, I can view his goal. He wants to make others aware of what the meaning of life is, a question everyone asks. It shows how hard he works to get the word of what his goal in life was. People believe some things they wish to do, will be too hard, or they won't make it. You could never know unless you try, and once you do, you're most likely to succeed. And if you don't, it's because you're not trying. You have to have trust in yourself. I personally used to have the issue of not believing in myself, which I overcame when I watched a commercial with Alan in it. He told me words of encouragement and support. I trusted those words, and now believe I could one day be a surgeon or a professor. I have trust and belief that I can proceed with what I want to proceed in. I know myself and what I want to do in such a short life we live. We want to succeed in this short time, that may feel long, a year, a month, a week, a day, a hour, a minute, or every second we breathe. The message I'm trying to spread, is to believe in what you want to believe, do what you want to do, try in what you want to try, but most importantly, live your life to the fullest. 💕🥀

Stoicism is one of the most empowering philosophies I have seen. It puts you in the Captain's helm of your life. Unfortunately it scares some people because not only does it give you complete control of who you are, it give you complete responsibility for who you are. Most people see one side of the coin and think that this sounds quite nice but once the turn it around they balk because it means their is no one to blame for your actions other than yourself.
