Congrats Sir. Back in the late 1990s my Wife gifted me a vintage Les Paul Custom. All these years later I still get a huge smile when I open its case to play it, I hope the same holds true for you.

More or less. Still plenty to do, but the new house definitely feels like home now. Just have a guest bedroom, a kitchen store room, and the garage left to set up, but most of that won’t happen until spring time.

Congrats!! I recently got myself one as well, so I know how you feel. It took me months to decide between the Custom and the R9, glad I followed my heart for my black beauty. However, I have to go through 3 guitars before I settle down with mine, all due to the craftsmanship, tool marks, uneven bindings, paint flaws, dead notes, etc, so I cannot say any good things about Gibson’s QC still 😅

Probably the best looking Les Paul that Gibson ever made... The Custom is worth every bit of it's price tag.. Its one of the most inspiring guitars to own... The only thing I change on these is the frets.. I have stainless steel frets fitted so that I never have to worry about fret dressing or the play dents that quickly appear if you play daily.

Check your specs, you should have a 1-piece mahogany neck. The Historic 1954 and 1957 Les Paul Customs utilize a 1-piece solid mahogany body (no separate top glued on, the body is one giant chunk of carved mahogany).

Nice that you got yourself the guitar you dreamed of owning. I kind of gave up on the quality and prices of Gibson, Fender and Epiphone, so I bought a nice sexy jet black/gold hardware Guild Polara Kim Thayil Signature guitar and I love it! Got it on sale for $100 off retail too. Ya wouldn't never know how great the Guild guitars are until ya give one a chance and try playing one. A happy and blessed New Year to ya too!

great looking guitar. i always wanted a Les Paul and ended up buying a couple one standard and one custom. i liked them but they had problems. i ended up buying a John Sykes model ESP Edwards and i absolutely love it. i did an a /b against a friends mid 70's LP Custom and across the board were spot on weight was 9.5 pounds ebony board, but mine doesn't have mother of pearl . which i wish it did. it even has the open book headstock. but needless to say they're not supposed to be sold here in the States.

A custom is my dream , I would take the white one !!! Mainly because of Steve jones of sex pistols played one. My best friends bought the custom shop Steve jones led Paul custom white. It’s reliced and has two pin up sticker sealed in the nitro. They made 300 only. And he has number2. Legend says that hat Steve’s has number 1😮. He paid in 2008 10.000$ , it’s worth now 14.000$ plus. That’s my dream guitar hands down. But the custom black is for me the top dog in guitar finish , look and legendary status!! Bravo for your new acquisition 🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥

Just thinking about you a few days ago, Robert. Good to see you again. I've had many US made Les Paul's including a special-order Custom Plus. IMO, I think it's a stretch to say they're perfect. My Les Paul custom was the most disappointing guitar of the bunch. Having said that, I don't buy and play Gibson guitars for their build quality. I prefer to play them for what they are. They are, to me, the greatest guitar brand and guitar available. My latest acquisition was a new 335 figured top. The neck was too chunky and the frets too low. I took it and my "number one" Les Paul to my luthier/guitar tech. He duplicated the Les Paul neck on the 335 along with a re-fret and turned the 335 into an absolutely fabulous instrument, for my style. Gibson electric guitars are second to none and their acoustic guitars are arguably the best production acoustics available.

Its cool to see someone get a guitar they've always wanted. I'm fairly particular about neck carves myself. The normal LP custom carves are nearly unplayable for me. Painfull. Apparently those new Epiphone LP Customs from the Inspired By Gibson Customshop series. Have a more rounded C shape, similar to the '59 Standards. But slim tapered. Haven't tried one yet. But I can tell you. That the Adam Jones sigs from Epiphone. Are like nothing else on the market. By far the fastest playing, most shred friendly carve ever. On ANY, LesPaul I've seen in my 57 years of existence. I highly recommend it for someone with smaller hands that isn't comfortable with most Les Paul necks. The only other carve Gibson or Epiphone currently use that I'd even mess with. Is the most excellent Slim Tapered Asymmetrical that Epiphone uses on Moderns and Prophecy models. My SG Modern had it, and so does my new Olive Tiger Gloss Burst LP Prophecy. Very comfortable and makes you wanna keep playing. Peace!

why is there a price difference in the white?

The price difference is most likely in the black one. Black, for some reason, is always slightly less expensive than other finishes in Gibson Land. They’ve priced their guitars that way for decades.

@RobertWJackson4 күн бұрын
Dude, I mean no disrespect by this, but Gibson Les Paul Customs (or any other $5000+ guitar) are NOT for people concerned with the price tag. I’m not necessarily one of those people, but I was willing to pay the money because it’s meant that much to me to finally own one of these, and I would have continued to save my money and been willing to pay even more if I’d needed to. Most of my other guitars are not anywhere near this expensive, but my reasons for buying just about all of those were A LOT different than they were for this one.
