No, McDonald's sold their assets along with a few other companies instead of getting rid of them or exporting them. So the companies they sold them to were owned by.... Russia.. and the owners took advantage and rebranded. Other companies like Papa John's are still in Russia due to franchising issues. Apple is also another notable company to leave, but Russia legalized parallel imports and found a way to still sell their products. While Apple doesn't operate anything there anymore, there are rebranded Apple stores done by the Russians. Adidas pulled an easy one and "suspended" operations. When the war in Ukraine happened, McDonald’s told the owners of the McDonald’s restaurants in Russia “Hey, uuuuh… we don’t want to be associated with you guys anymore. We’re taking our brand back, you can’t use it anymore and we’re gonna cut ties.” Even though they have lost the franchise and can’t use their likeness, they (the owners) still own the restaurant (the building itself) so the owners got together and rebranded.

They became higher since march because that now need to pay rent. Earlier mcdonalds in russia was paying ony 1 ruble per month for each restaurant, that’s shoking

@@user6996 yea, i moved ou to Russia early this year and it was affordable , rent was good , fastfood was cheap, clothes too. Now i gotta study and work and limit my food budget to live to the next month. i wish things just go back to the same way it was
