That lens would be perfect for bird photography, it is nice to see Sony completing their lens line. A good time for bird photos is during Spring Migration, the birds typically return just before the leaves come out which makes capturing images of them much easier (they have nothing to hide behind). A bit of research will point towards the best spots for this (eBird is good), for me one of the best places is Point Pelee National Park (Canada) the last week of April or the first 3 weeks of May (dates will vary by location). The one year the hotel I stayed at had a helicopter park on the lawn for several days (they were doing Ag spraying).

Love seeing you post a video on this lens. I also shoot this with both my 7r3 and 7r4. This lens is really good and I often use it for my wildlife photography here in Florida. In lower light situations I use the 7r3 as I seem to get less noise, but I mostly use it with the 7r4. I miss not having a manual focus override like my Sigma 150-600 (Canon mount with mc-11 adapter) as I could use focus peaking with little effort, but the images and focus speed are consistently better on the Sony. Thanks again for showcasing this niche lens and I look forward to seeing more images from it.

I absolutely love my micro four thirds 100-400mm lens which I use almost as much as my 12-35mm. Most people use theirs for wildlife. I use it for everything especially for the bokeh, mainly because professional glass is so expensive. It just so happens that I have my camera in the garden filming the birds and squirrels while I hide behind the kitchen door on the very edge of the WiFi connection between the camera and my phone.

Becki the 200-600 is a huge lens, even issues getting it in the PM backpack, but had it on the PD tripod with no issues, try shooting the moon or even hand held. Although I brought mine to shoot Eagles in Canada (Tofino, BC) 🇨🇦 but COVID-19 mess that up. Camping in back garden, last time about 40 years ago
