Still salty how they gave Wondy the win in their fight with details as trivial and dumb as her sword "being able to cut on the atomic level" (which was also ignoring the fact that, to even do that, she needed Supes to guide her...and it still caused a nuke to go off in their faces). Pretty sure none of the absurd multiversal, literal fate-altering feats that were given to Thor for this battle came up for the battle against Diana, and certainly no Thorforce and the like.

I went with Thor on this one, mostly because he was able to absorb energy, and forcibly take it. However I was a little nervous about Ultra Ego and how that works. But no matter what I was just happy to hear Dbza Vegeta again.

The thing is, they made BASE vegeta ssg to HEAVILY nerf vegeta. Vegeta in base was stronger than the goku who PERMANENTLY absorbed the power of ssg into base (where the 13x universal came from, which is wrong to begin with as it’s infinitely more). So instead ssb was 50x 13x universal, instead of being 50x ssg which would be 16 million x 13x universal. (Using official multipliers) ssb vegeta alone would be immensely above the numbers they used for Thor.

Like others said, Thor was nerfed in this fight to make it more fair. My biggest problem with this episode were just the calcs for Vegeta.

​@theduckgoesmoo Yeah, a lot of down time after Cell and before Super. Vegeta's parenting style is kinda intense at least with Trunks, but he loves both his kids. He actually refused to go with Whis until his daughter Bulla was ready to be born. So Whis used angel powers to instantly deliver her. His parenting style is closer to Piccolo's than Gohan's with Pam, but it's genuine love. Especially considering how protective he is of Bulma, whether it's Beerus slapping her or Goku accidentally using instant transmission to appear in her shower, causing her to scream, he immediately ran into the room.

Who powers up first doesn't determine who wins. Its mostly who is more likely to use their higher forms first. Since the Super Saiyan Forms are important for Vegeta, he is likely to go into it first since that is when he uses more of his power. Thor meanwhile tries to not use Warrior's Madness since its frown upon in Asgard. So that's why he transforms later than Vegeta. There's an example of someone powering up first and winning, but I won't spoil who since I don't think you saw it yet.

Another example of a Death Battle where a character powered up first and won that he has reacted to was Ragna vs Sol Badguy in Season 2 . . . . . . Sol was technically the first to power up with Dragon Install before Ragna went to Blood Kain. While Ragna did go into his Black Beast form first, this was out of his control, while Sol chooses to go into his Gear Form afterwards.

Vegetas Ultra Ego is basically the opposite of Gokus Ultra Instinct, while Gokus Ultra Instinct is based on the Power of the Angels like Whis and is based on the fighting style of dodging and countering, Vegetas Ultra Ego is based on the Power of the Gods of Destruction like Beerus which is based on Tanking hits and maximizing the own destructive output

Lot of these fights end up feeling like unfair or stomps and make some match ups seem foolish (like Thor vs Raiden), but that’s because of a few factors Obvious one is they use characters at their absolute best, which especially with DC and Marvel where there’s tons of versions made by different writers, taking the best of the attributes can make characters seem utterly absurd. But even for non comic characters, like Solid Snake or Dante, he ends up getting abilities and gear that come up throughout his lifetime all at once But more importantly, the characters never are chosen based on being similar in power. They’re chosen because of their story writing comparisons or real world connections. Goku and Superman are the childhood power house heroes that came to earth as children from doomed planets. Cable and Booster Gold are both time traveling super heroes with a ton of similar abilities. Bane and Venom both use Venom (the drug and the symbiote), but are also the ‘bulkiest’ arch enemies to their respective heroes. Rainbow Dash and Star Scream are iconic characters from their shows, both made by Hasbro, built (initially at least) on the boy v girl toy structure. Here, Thor is the prince god of Asgard, vegeta is the sayian prince with god powers, both warriors eager for battle. Honestly means it’s rare that you’ll ever find an equal fight, except when the characters come from the same universe and were scaled to eachother. Spyro V Crash, which have long been associated with eachother, had its tie breaker argument pulled from Spyro’s most recent games to finish the fight with how otherwise equally matched they were. But across other universes, characters are scaled to the threats within it. So taking them out, the ‘balancing scale’ of their universe is gone, as best demonstrated with Hercule Satan v Dan, as arguably Dan is taken a hair more seriously than Hercule within his own universe, yet outclassed Dan in most aspects that mattered While the fights are a delight, I honestly find the most enjoyment in seeing how these 2 characters compare to eachother in their stories and all the common threads they have between them

They pick a match-up they think will be liked and popular because of the storytelling similarities, then they do some research to make it seem accurate, and make an (admittedly very entertaining) fight. Vegeta's actually the most competent father in the series. Yeah, it admittedly took him a bit to get there, but once you hit the end of the buu saga, he basically became the ultimate family man. Hell, in Super, he initially turned down entering the Tournament of Power, a chance to fight literally the most powerful beings in all existence, because his second kid Bulla was about to be born any day and there was no way in hell he was going to miss it.

About Vegeta's fathering, truth is in GT he and Bulma had a second child, a daughter named Bra, and that girl had him wrapped around her finger like you wouldn't believe. We’re 1/4 into Season 9 (DB seasons nowadays are usually 16 episodes long), & this has been a really great start. Harley VS Jinx was a great premier, Scarlet VS Zatanna was really entertaining, Tanjiro VS Jonathan was really good, & Thor VS Vegeta is (so far) my favorite episode this season. The next episode, Omni-man VS Homelander, is a stomp, but I think we’ve learned by now that it doesn’t automatically make an episode bad by default, so who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us.

A character being a “god” has been overused in media for decades to the point where it’s lost meaning. Thor brought that back into perspective with his feats.

Vegeta's hair looked red because that's just what the sprite looks like. Vegeta is actually pretty commonly seen with dark brown hair in some pieces of media (not in the anime though I'm pretty sure)

Both The Boys and Invincible (the series Omni-Man is from) are both Amazon Prime series. Both characters are pretty much messed up versions of DC's big blue boy scout, Superman. As someone who has watched both series, I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

The animation is Hand Drawn in the same style as Invincible and The Boys: Diabolical, and the set up is the best one we've had since Goku vs Superman or Iron Man vs Lex (IIRC) I think you should watch both Invincible and the Boys, or at least the first episodes of both before the battle.

The only thing I take issue with here is their calculations were based on Goku's fight with Beerus and seemed to be going under the assumption that his base hadn't gotten any stronger since then. Which just isn't true. Their base power has grown many, many times over since then. I like the fact that they brought up how Vegeta's power would be growing throughout the fight too. But they made the mistake of asserting that only his strength would grow. It wouldn't. Strength and speed are generally tied in the DBZ Universe. An increase in power would include making him faster.

Yeah it’s literally canon that in Resurrection of F, Goku’s base form is equal to SSJG when he fought Beerus. Then we need to factor in the Zenkais Vegeta got in Tournament of Power. Not to mention that they lowballed tf out of Ultra Ego by claiming it is only 20x stronger than SSJB.

I’m excited for the next fight. Omni Man and Homelander are perfect examples of the evil Superman trope. But funny thing is, Omni Man vs Homelander gets completely hated on by a majority of the death battle community. The reason why is because it’s a complete stomp in one of the characters favor (I won’t say who for your sake Duck) and because the connections between the two kind of misrepresent Omni Man’s character and only highlight the basic understanding of the characters. Which are basically “two evil supermen who pretend to be good, only to have dark and evil secrets behind them” like I’ve seen people want Omni Man vs Bardock (also from Dragon Ball) and Homelander Vs Tighten (from Megamind) more than this fight. But after looking at those options, I’m honestly really happy we got Omni Man vs Homelander.

While I agree with most of this, I feel like they left something out of consideration. While it's true that Thor has resisted existence erasing attacks before, I feel like they didn't take level of power into consideration when it came to erasure. So the question is, would Hakai at Vegeta's level be too much for Thor to resist?

Even if the difference in power was reversed (which it could depending on how you handle Vegeta's multipliers), most likely not. Characters weaker than destroyers, like Frieza surviving Top's hakai, still had the durability needed to survive it. So unless the power gap was gigantic (which it's not, it's relatively even, minus Thor's 'Oh Shit' buttons), the most hakai would do is cause damage like any other attack.

in DB super vegeta Learns god kie rather then being granted this power Like goku. They both incorporate god kie into a new base form. Then stack super onto that for the blue hair. Well goku stacks koken onto blue, vegeta manages an evolution of blue with out the damaging effect koken can have on goku's body. Then in the manga vegeta trains more directly with the god of destruction to understand hakai energy & turn Ultra ego where he takes damage & absorbs energy that is amplified by his ego. The more damage he can take & survive the more power builds up within him, stronger then the damage done to him. Where as ultra instinct is revealed to be not possible for vegeta. Yet the limit of ultra ego is how much damage can vegeta take to boost his energy & stamina well still needing to be damage to build this power. Hard to say how it compares to ultra instinct that avoids damage driven with the heart of battle in a more defensive system, where as ultra ego needs an offensive fighter that will Lust over damage & drive through it.
