Another good choice about oscilloscopes is PSYSCOPE. You can see 3 different tracks ate the same time on free version and do the same job.

Safe to assume that when it overlaps the two waveforms, it's not summing them and showing the phasing. I like to use LFO tool on my kick/sub bus to see what the summed net effect is. Assuming there IS SOME overlap.

@@TheCosmicAcademy Actually I was always checking visually by resampling the bass and the kick ahah Otherwise, I know something called multianalyzer which is max4live plugin. And if I’m not mistaken melda plugins have something similar, but the one you show looks way better 😁

I got a question!!🤔if the kick and bass always been avoided clashing by sidechain kind of waveshaper. so why we need eq dip overtone, need saturator to produce harmonics for subtracting the clashing in low frequencies or use transient expander to amplify high frequancy to reduce the low phase cancellation.

Hey, great tutorial I had to go and cop this plug in! But when I loaded it my display is completely different, toggles on the bottom and also no button to combine two waveforms together.. is this a certain preset or update to get the display i'm seeing with yours?

Thanks! Look towards the top of the plugin…it probably says “combined”. If you click that you can change it to “separated” and then you will see them on different channels!

It's not a hard "yes" or "no" tbh because this can vary dependent on what you're making. If you're making a track with a fat kick (lot of low end) you probably would want little to no overlap. If theres a kick that isn't so "subby" the overlap might be okay because its not competing for the exact same frequency space. So its a tough question to answer!! There are times where it could be fine/not fine. Combining a sub with this technique is the ideal circumstance. Eye balls cant "feel" how they interact with each other.

@@grantgibbs4803 in theory if they are in phase, and not clipping when combined, then yes, that would be fine. However, one problem is they'll probably be out of phase at points of your track unless your baseline is just one single pitch/frequency the whole way through (borrrrring).

Title says "all genres". Not all genres do what your kick and sub are doing, so what happens with other genres where the kick and sub start on the same beat?

What genre does that? Really you should never have the sub bass overlapping the kick. Both the kick and sub bass provide the sub frequency’s and you should only have one element providing the sub frequencies at a time. I have a feeling you might be referring to 808’s. An 808 is essentially a long kick drum that fills the space were both ur kick and sub should go,

@naughtyducky6325 tons of genres do that. Hip hop, breakbeat, d&b, dubstep, reggae and pretty much most genres that aren't 4 to the floor repetitive stuff.

@@mattcocanna8904 The actual sub bass sound doesn’t start at the same time. The midi for the sub might start at the same time as the kick but you’d want the sub ducking away at this stage. The same method in the video applies when ever the kick is triggered you duck the sub bass doesn’t need to be 4 to the floor. He’s using shaperbox to duck the sub. You’d need to put shaperbox into sidechain mode and have it trigger when ever your kick plays. You can also do this with any compressor capable of sidechain triggering. If you don’t have either you could also just use volume automation on the sub bass to duck the sub out the way of the kick

Kick and sub starting on the same beat is kind of why sidechain exists because the 2 share the same frequencies. As said the sub is to be ducked out the way as millions of sons have a sub and kick on the same beat but you'll never hear it presented like that because it's been ducked otherwise it would sound like a mess.
