But Pasta is SO FREGGING EZ though. Literally just buy a decent quallity pasta, boil to instructions -2 min... Make ANY sauce you like with it. My go to is a fake bolognese with union/garlic/basil/oregano, ground beef/pork and crushed tomato's or passata. And if im really lazy i'll just buy a pack of "italian veggies" that are pre-cut. Put pasta in sauce and move it for 2 min untill the pasta is done. Like.. how is this complicated for anyone? I only need to cut 2 ingredients max and its 10 times better then anything in a jar. I refure to believe there is any adult out there that cant make this. I fully understand that making a Carbonara can be challenging, i screwed it up tons. But now that i can actually make it, I can't even order it anymore because it's all fake bullshit.... even in Italian restaurants. (Not in Italy i'd assume)

America has a group of herbs and seasonings that they call "Italian seasoning". All in the same container & usually includes dried oregano, basil, thyme & sometimes rosemary.
@vincenzosplate

I said that in one of my videos last time, I did not understand why there's a need to produce such seasoning, when in fact those herbs are meant to be used for different dishes.
@ositagordita8550
@ositagordita8550 Жыл бұрын
@vincenzosplate How that ever got started in America is unknown to me. One of my pet peeves is the label of "Chili Powder". First off, in New Mexico USA, it is spelled "CHILE", same pronunciation as chilI. (Chil"i" is supposed to be the entire finished product) Secondly, how can it be called "chili powder" when it has other seasonings as salt, cumin, garlic, onion, oregano, etc??? Finally, if it is not comprised of ONLY chile peppers, then it is NOT TRUE CHILE POWDER. 🥱🙄

@@vincenzosplate to my understanding the "Italian food" market in America (Italian seasoning, pre made "spaghetti sauce", ect) stems from Italian American immigrants in the late 19th century and early to mid 20th century. As a fact they usually had lower income jobs (because they were immigrants) and thus had to produce an abundance of food on an extremely tight budget. That "lower class" of food has since been made extremely affordable to low income households, less time consuming for busy households, simplified, processed, preserved and mass marketed as "Italian food" and not many really questions it. It's fun, quick and ridiculously easy to make, but doesn't compare to the real thing whatsoever.
@Milkplus90
@Milkplus90 Жыл бұрын
@@vincenzosplate Unfortunately the reality is...the manufacturers can sell more product overall by combining a few different "typical Italian seasonings" and and creating a "whole new product". In America there is a large enough demand for things like this, similar to how people in the UK and USA use "curry powder" (which is a combination of a few different spices) to make "Indian food", but if you say "curry powder" in India people will look at you like you're an idiot. They want the "taste of Italian and Indian food", but don't want to bother learning the detailed quantities and ingredients to make authentic cuisine.

@@tmstar7449 I was SHOCKED by how easy it was! I have even made my own mac n' cheese with the method used in his Carbonara video! It's stupidly easy, just boil pasta in salty water, drain most of the water, take the pot off the heat and mix some cheese into it. Done! Season to your taste (pepper and salt if you used a lighter cheese, but I highly recommend strong cheese and then you'd only need pepper). It does take a little practice to get the cheese to mix into the pasta water and make a nice creamy sauce with it, but it 100% does work. If you drain too much water you will know, because you'll get a lot of stringy cheese instead of creamy cheese sauce.

Many years ago I used to buy Prego from time to time, it used to be good, then it started to just taste too sweet, and then all of their varieties started to taste exactly the same "Italian seasoning" abomination (oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary). So now when and if I buy sauce in a jar I usually go for a brand named Nerolo which is locally made (I live in Mexico), they use Italian tomatoes, no added sugar, no "Italian seasoning" or weird stuff. Not as good as making it myself but it's so far the best brand I can find and I only use it when I'm either in a rush or too tired to cook the sauce myself or if I have to cook for way too many people.

And 'Marinara (lit. 'sailor') sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions.' I'm from Germany and we call that sauce marinara, too. Even pizza marinara is just a pizza with red sauce (no with seafood, that is just 'Seafood pizza' ).

You're absolutely right, and I appreciate the clarification. The term "marinara" can have different interpretations and uses in various regions and cuisines. In Italian cuisine, "alla pescatora" is indeed a seafood sauce, while "marinara" typically refers to a simple tomato sauce with garlic, herbs, and onions. It's interesting how food terminology can vary between cultures and regions. Thank you for sharing your perspective from Germany! 🇩🇪🍝🇮🇹

Lol! Prego was heavily marketed on tv in America for decades (might still be) so I think people grew up thinking it was the best. They had a slogan: “Prego over Ragu (a competitor).” I guess their extensive marketing worked.

PS.: Having a blend of seasonings called "Italien Spices" is a thing in my country as well. I don't normally use it, because I like to go by whatever I'm trying to cook and not everything needs all the herbs in that seasoning blend, but I have something against things with overly obvious titles in general. If something is called very specifically one thing, then, most of the time, you get either something really generic, something cheap or something with the most safe blend when it comes to, for example, spices, because it's made for people who have little to no clue what they are doing and are most likely naive beginners. Funnily enough, the pasta sold for really cheap here in Germany is still pretty clear, though. I sometimes buy Barilla, because my local supermaket, even though it's huge, doesn't have another brand for Canneloni. It's expensive as hell. But the quality of the cheapest Penne is just as good, not gonna lie.

Vincenzo, the First Lady said she was cooking for a family of 8. The items she purchased seemed all to have come from Walmart (a large retailer in the USA). Walmart is known for its lower prices compared to many other retailers here. Perhaps in her defense, with the way the economy is here in the states she has no other choices but to buy the inexpensive items to feed her family. That being said , please don’t you change! I love the delicious looking meals you make!!!
