Actually, it's called a laser lasso. It's used so that other units wearing NVG can see the position of friendly's. It's used by Tier 1, Rangers, as well as regular units. The area he is describing sounds like Helmand Province. The laser lasso also let air support or med evac know the location as well. A grid is given. When the helo can be heard, the unit will notify the pilot that he hears them, then will say he's marking the spot. What do you see. The pilot will respond, laser lasso, and the ground unit acknowledges good copy LZ secure, or LZ hot.

You sound like an American... You LIKE to shut out everybody else from your shiat... Then you call in for help... Then you say we NEVER helped... That kind of mismanagement of comms, allied intelligence sharing blunders, and self-gloating is an everyday occurrence when we work with the US military... They have WAY more kit than we do... But the LOW IQ level of the average troop is on another level... NOT every unit is like that... But self-gloating and blame-washing is part of your lore... You did NOT win WW1 and WW2 by yourselves.. BUT, YOU lost Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and abandoned LOTS of supposed allies, ON YOUR OWN!!! So stop acting like you guys are the best at everything. YOU SUCK at a LOT of things.. And a LOT of times that BAD STUFF happens because YOU guys acted like idiots... Canada here!!! SO F-OFF!!! I LIVED the same shiat... US troops operating in an area they never told anyone about... That is NOT being an ally. That is being a conceited arsehole... Just ask the guys from RCR that got hammered by an A-10 or by a duo of F-16 pilots on a meth high, who mistook RED tracers bouncing off of rocks on a training range for GREEN tracers coming up at them...

There's a quite reliable explanation for that, that's all based on which kind of Italians you run into. First category is made up of "uncultured" guys coming in Croatia for their holidays (it has nothing to do with Croatia, just they usually move with the hype, one year is Albania, the next one is Croatia and blablabla because someone told them that's a cool/cheap/easy to get laid place) On the other hand, instead, the italian you approached in italy were probably people over 35yo, and back in the days they rly didnt pay any attention to foreign languages. New generations are getting slightly better with time, we're not the best english speaker out there but not even that bad (I think of French adults intentionally refusing to speak english or things like that)

Although the tier designation does refer to funding level support, it is more importantly a designation representing the level of readiness and level of capabilities and training. It’s a DOD tier structure that can be found on the OSD website if anyone cares to look. As for Italy, the Col Moschin, or 9th Para (Raiders) is the Italian version of their Tier 1 readiness capability unit.

I trained with LOTS of US troops when I was in the Canadian forces... But NEVER with tier 2 or 1 units in the beginning... The ones we got to come and learn winter warfare were mostly National Guard units or regular infantry... They got MEDALS for staying for a WEEK in an environment that we thrived in for 6 months out of EVERY YEAR!! But, when I switched to something better, and finally met some REAL troopers. they actually GOT IT and respected our knowledge.. And WE also learned a lot from them. That is the difference between highly trained troops and a welfare-evading bunch of TikTokkers...
