Great to see a well-engineered product with lots of R&D behind it being built in the UK. My experience with lasers and chemicals always seemed to lead to more issues.

Can testify to the power of uvc having experienced the pain of exposure to my eyes! You won't realise until a few hours later when you wake up in excruciating pain unable to open your eyes. Tears flowing and extreme sensitivity to light for days after. I sat in the dark for a week 🤣

Looks good but zapping aptasia only makes them spawn only burghia nudibranch work on aptasia I seen the aptasia spawn in your vid

A few companies in the trade and coral breeders are currently testing to see what dose is needed. It's tougher than some polyps but slowly reduces.

i know this wont be its intended purpose. I have struggled with nearly every common variety of Dinoflagellates. Had osteo, small and large cell amps. I now (due to making my tank a algae play zone from increased nutrients and water glass) managed to get it down to only small patch's of invisible dinos other than some bubbles. i know UV works well for osteo as they enter the water however i was wondering that if used in the day when the small and large cell aphs are at on the sandbed surface if it would kill them? any idea guys ? @Charterhouse TV @ITC Reefculture

The big question is if this used on aptasia, it can be stressed out and populate and spread out more in the tank??

No - because the UVC is sterilising all the cells including any planula it has ready to release, if it does. In testing under microscope we haven't been able to detect any planula ejected from the aip when under treatment.

How effective is it on hair algae?

Wil work - but its spot control tool not ideally for a huge tank full of hair algae unless you have a lot of time! Remove as much as possible and goto town on the leftovers on the rock - it will kill it and stop it from growing but it will need to break down naturally afterwards so its not an instant effect :)

Yes, but they're thick chunky beasts. You're better off as much as possible and working a small small area at a time then treating the remains on the rock to kill it and stop it from growing back. Its designed as a spot control tool as opposed to a full tank clearing device :). If you've got a big infestation it will take a while but you'll get there.. and then can keep it that way!

Yes Lisa. The clip of the Reef Delete being used to clear flatworm was the morning before filming.

Unless the angle is spot on.. the calcareous shell will probably stop the UVC. That said - waiting to see if anyone's tried.. we haven't as of this post.

299.99 for something that costs sub 25.0 to make... no wonder so many bail out in this hobby. You can equally buy for £100 a tripod and high powered Laser with remote activation to kill Aptasia and other unwanted friends... Again supporting these companies and the high end pricing for stuff like this just pushes more out of this hobby, please stop doing it.

Thanks for your comments. It is worth pointing out here that this item does not use a laser to irradicate the pests, but a UVC beam. These two methods are very different! Yes the item is not the cheapest method on the market, however if hobbyists are looking for a safe way to treat pests, then this may well be an option for them. Keeping pests at bay and helping people have a happier healthier coral surely encourages success? It may not be for everyone, but each individual will decide if the Reef Delete is a tool they want in their arsenal.
