As you get older you will appreciate simplicity! My 2005 Base Tacoma is the 4 cylinder 2.7, RWD, 5MT and I will drive it till the day I die! When all the bells and whistles and gadgets and gizmos on your fancy truck stop functioning, my hand crank windows and bench seat will still be comfortably working.

I have owned many vehicles in life but I've only owed 2 Toyotas, and I still have them. How can anyone part with a Toyota. One is identical to that with just 30k miles and the other is a 94 pickup that I've had over 20 years. When I heard in the summer of 2014 that they were discontinuing their regular cab I put in an order for a base model 4wd truck, waited until August when it was finished being built and picked it up. These have gone through the roof in price, I wouldn't dream of selling mine for anything less than top blue book value being still like new, they cost to much to replace.

I have the 2017 Tacoma SR 2.7L Access Cab 5-Speed Manual. The sticker price was $27k. It has power windows, a back up cam, 4-wheel drive, cruise control, steel wheels... It is not fast but if you shift it at 2.5k rpms/3k rpms it will get up to 70 on the highway.

@quadrunner91 Funny you ask, I actually traded it in for a 2019 TRD Sport Access Cab, new... 3.5L V6 with the 6 speed manual. It's a great truck. I wouldn't recommend the getting the 2017 2.7L 5 speed... it is very slow and underpowered... but very reliable as you know. They actually discontinued the 2.7L 5 speed manual for the 3rd gen. One more thing to note is when I went to use the 4x4 in the 2.7L 5 speed manual is that the truck would bog down and almost stall in the snow. The v6 Manual I never have that iasue

Now the base price starts at $24g and that's is what i was going to buy because I was happy because it only comes in extra cab. So my wife told me why don't you upgrade from a basic Tacoma and get something with more. So after driving all they have to offer I got a 20017 SR5 4x4 v6 after all the paperwork and extra stuff came to $40g . But I glad I did it the best truck I have owned. So great video.

My taco came with 4.10 gears and it's still anemic. Toyota should have replaced the 2.7 with a 2 liter turbo diesel years ago, and should have kept the supercharger option for the 6. I have a 2007 Tacoma double cab and honestly I love it a lot it’s a beautiful truck.The only issue I have is the fuel economy and that is why right after I pay it off I’m gonna sell that truck and swap to a single cab 5 lug.All I need it for is moving car parts for my project car and for daily commute.And honestly I think it’s not gonna be bad at pulling go karts or a jet ski.And I might get some hate for this from some dedicated lifted truck owners but I might do a lift (spacer) kit with some 20x12 and 275s just for shits and giggles.But eyyy that’s my plan

Hey friend do you think this Tacoma can use 19” wheels size??
@JustACarGuyNamedTom6 жыл бұрын
Maybe like 17" or 18". 19" would be borderline mall crawler looking lol

I have an 01 tacoma reg cab just as basic as that minus the touch screen and manual transmission
@JustACarGuyNamedTom6 жыл бұрын
We used to have an 04 that was a basic 4x4 automatic. I miss the simplicity of the 1st gen, but the ride of the 2014 is miles ahead!

Do you prefer the old 4.0 V6 over the 3.5 V6 in the new Tacoma?
@JustACarGuyNamedTom7 жыл бұрын
+Kyler Able honestly I can't really say. The 4.0 feels better but the 3.5 has better gas mileage. I'd lean towards the 4.0

Where was this truck located?
@Victorseafog6 жыл бұрын
Yeah you don't get all that electronic BS that breaks when it gets older. Its so hard you know to manually roll down a window and adjust the mirror on the passenger side. in a small standard bed (sarcasm) Man how can I live without a automatic review sliding window located 5 inches from my head.!!!!
