I just checked my International Driving Permit. There is no signature from any authority on the inside. However there is a signature printed on the front cover listed as “Authorized signature of the empowered authority”. Cameroon is listed inside right between Cambodia and Canada on the list of countries that honor the IDP. The issuing location is responsible for verifying your driving privileges in your home location at the time of issuance. You did the right thing and I’m so proud of the confident manner in which you handled the situation. Well done. Masterclass in border crossing etiquette.

That is correct. In the countries which an IDL is required it has to be accompanied by your country of origin license. Some countries in the EU do not require an IDL anymore. My advise to travelers is to research the traffic laws and IDL requirements of the countries one intends to visit, as it should be done by visitors into the United States who intend to operate a MV. In the case of the US the laws vary from state to state, but the idea is the same everywhere.

My regular ❤route in Cameroon took me through 27 road blocks across the six towns we were putting telephone systems in. They often tried for money, or food, or CDs. Very rarely 😂did I give money. They would back off when I demanded to go into town to see their commandant. Middle of the month between paydays was the worse time. I wrote a series of articles called “the other Cameroon”.😢.
