Hi! I found your channel last night. My younger brother has schizophrenia. He was my best friend. He passed away 2 weeks ago from an overdose and I have been trying to find some solace in understanding his illness better, even tho it’s too late now. I wish I had found your channel earlier so I could have understood a bit more about the illness. Your channel has been really helpful in understanding tho. I’m so happy to see this update because I know this will really give your life so much more purpose, beauty, and meaning. My brother always wanted a girlfriend but never got that opportunity and I feel so bad because I know it probably would have changed his life for the better, as it looks like your relationship has. I’m so happy for you, and will continue to check in and watch you grow. I lost my brother forever and I can never fill that hole in my heart, in my life, but I’m going to keep trying to understand schizophrenia and do whatever I can to educate myself and those around me about mental illness cause it’s really something that we need to speak about, be open about, and hold each other through. The feeling of alone-ness that I’m sure he had.. it breaks my heart to think about what he was going through and I wish I could go back in time and just love him harder and try to understand him better and be a better support system for him. but I can’t. So I guess what I’m saying is, love the ones you got dearly because honestly the most important thing we have in this life is each other. ur video motivate me!! yt recommended me ur old video having a schizophrenic episode on camera cause i'm a psychologist student, so i watch for academic purposes. that caused me to see ur evolution from that video till now, and lemme tell u that i cried af watching u talk about ur kid. i too have chronic mental illness and suffer sometimes from delusions or something like that (not by schizophrenia tho) and i literally have fobia of being a parent cause i don't want this for my kid. i want my kid to have the best parent they could have and i felt (untill now) that having a SMI couldn't give my child that. but u changed me. the way that u talk about being a parent with SMI and the way u talk about ur son... i just know that u will be the best dad that he could have, and u gave me the hope of being capable of having that much honor in my life. thank u for sharing ur story with us, def gonna follow u and see ur development closer, not only i got interest in ur condition (academically), now i am just interested in u as a person and, for my luck, u as a dad. thank u for sharing this, truthfully

Congratulations!!! I'm bipolar and a stepparent and it is very, very difficult for me when I'm unstable, but my partner is my rock and helps me be a better person and a better parent. Our kiddo is so he doesn't really understand why sometimes I have a week or two when I have to isolate and basically hide in my bedroom for the majority of the day. When he's older he'll understand better, because if I'm not healthy I'm unpredictable and I don't want him to see me like that. When Wesley is older he'll understand why his dad isn't like his friends' dads, but he will also learn empathy and respect for folks with severe psychiatric diagnoses. I can tell that you are already doing a great job. I wish y'all the best and as always, thank you for your vulnerability and ability to educate others about the realities of severe mental illness!

I am rooting for you, this illness is so unfair. I am helping someone and trying to find answers. I think someday they will find that there are different causes and that some causes can be treated. You deserve to find health and happiness! We are looking at a theory that for some people perhaps there is a trauma that allows a substance you might be sensitive to, say gluten, to pass the gut blood barrier and then the blood brain barrier. We are looking for triggers that can be eliminated to calm this crap down. You are one of the fortunate people who seem to be able to tell the difference between real and internal voices, which is very important and helpful and a powerful help, even though the voices are upsetting. Also, I would take a walk in the sunshine every day for vitamin d production, avoid chemicals when possible, get healthy fat like omega 3, look into nutrition to see if you can identify any deficits. It could be just genetic, but it is possible for some cases that something else is at work that can be fixed if we can find it. I am determined to see if there are things that can be changed in the diet or environment to ease these symptoms. So far we found a red dye that caused a 2 hour meltdown, and because the voices and delusions and the amount of negativity and the ability to engage with actual people and activities varies, I hope there are reasons why that can be discovered. Hang in there!

My brother is very similar to you with dealing with mental illness 😢 he has been able to get back on his feet for the past year almost two years and he also found out he is going to be a dad in September. Well he just told the family and we are so happy for him! I can’t wait to hold him but I feel like for my brother. I feel like it has actually helped him so much to get his life together? Like it has helped him gain motivation and self love! I’m excited to see him grow along way his new family ! Anyways enough about him! Again congrats to both of you! Don’t forget that everything is new to him. Don’t forget to burp him after every feed to avoid colic . That’s something that I would always forget to do as a first time parent. I can't explain it because I simply do not know enough so forget what I was trying to say... The point is you guys seem to have love. No one should ever judge you for being a parent and having a serious mental illness (SMI). You did not use to have this illness. It sounds like you're both extremely dedicated. There are loads of people with SMI, in their best interest, to have children because it *might* make them worse but you have the best support system. I'm very proud of you both!!🎉❤

This is beautiful. Im skizotypal myself and knowing that you can find love and have a kid makes me more secure about my future. Especially seeing your episodes and knowing how tough they are. My episodes are nothing like yours since I’m skizotypal. My senses get hightened and sensory impressions feel Distorted and very extreme. And when in public i get paranoid about people thinking Im weird or that they can read my thoughts. But because Im skizotypal i dont believe these things 100% Im more in a 50/50 area where Im unsure about reality. I dont have hallucinations but Im also on meds. When i did get hallucinations they were short and barely recognisable as hallucinations. I’d hear short whispering. Get a short scent of something uncomfortable. Get a bad taste or feel a Quick touch. But nothing severe. One time i saw a shadowy figure from the corner of my eye but it disapeared once i looked in that direction. Basically what i experience is very mild but still uncomfortable. So knowing that your experiences are more extreme than mine but you’re still able ti live a proper life makes me happy and more secure about my own life. I hope the best for you and your fam man. I don't have a relationship or children, and I never could..ever. it's impossible. But it's been almost six years since my last crisis and I'm really happy about that. The right medication, old frienships, studying numerology and being artistic were the things that helped me.

Life won’t be easy, but it’s life, life is fluid. Things happen all the time. My life was going great and then I was involved in a car accident, things happen and you have to shift gears. That little boy is with loving parents 🥰, he is going to do great. Thanks for sharing.

Having had episodes of psycosis the past few months has been super scary. Im on antipsychotics now but i have a load of side effects but it does help with the voices. Mental health ain't no joke. Take care people. Congrats on the baby and best of luck to the both of you.

Whoa i am sooo happy for you! I came from another video to check on you and had just commented on earthing yiurself. What helped me earthing was becoming a mom but i didn't want to give you that advice during an acute episode. I also never really wanted kids 😄 it is a blessing!

An illness should never compel a person to an unfulfilled life. Any hardship that may (or may not) come, you know that you can deal with it. If you are prepared to dedicate your life to your child, love them unconditionally and care for them in the best way possible, then that child will be blessed! Congratulations!
