@ItsAPrimate so if you didn't know, the movie of "IV: A New Hope" and all the sequels after that. all the Stormtroopers are mostly volunteer/drafted. The Clones mostly died out because of their short lifespan cause of sped up aging process of clones (which is how Kamino was able to produce tens of thousands of Clonetroopers). After the Clone Wars, the Empire stopped production of Clones. So most of them either retired/died. Some have better independent thought and defected from the Empire. Some stayed with the Empire. There's some lore that Darth Vader only likes Stormtroopers who are clones because he has a ton of respect for them. So basically what I'm trying to say is they almost all the Stormtroopers you see in the movies are just people. Which is why Stormtroopers always miss and cannot hit anything. Clonetroopers are superior, lol
@markb7424 жыл бұрын
When George Lucas watched The Force Awakens, he shook his head, and said, “They didn’t go anywhere new.” , meaning the plot was a retread of A New Hope. Think about it, another Death Star, but this one could destroy five planets at once. That’s the ‘creativeness’ of Jar Jar Abrams. Copy an idea, but make it BIGGER. How entertaining. So let me get this straight. Finn is like 19 years old, and the first order has been in power for 20 years, so how his this is first mission? They need to get small kids and train them up from a young age so they don’t get emotions like mercy or pity. The first order’s origins cannot be older than 30 years since thats when the empire fell and the first order is built from it’s ashes. So if they started training young kids 30 years ago, them their first missions would be 11 years ago since that’s how old Finn was when he was let out for his first mission. So who fought for them the first 18 years? They don’t get power over the republic if they don’t have troopers to fight it. See, TFA and the other sequels are visually stunning, fast paced movies, but when you start thinking about it, they really start to fall apart.

here's how i see it OT - "default star wars". perfect balance of plot and characters. visuals aren't that great but hey. prequels - movies you watch for the plot for the most part. that's not to say all of the characters are bland, it's just fun to think about what happens and theorize why something happened a certain way. sequels - not exactly the best of the three, but it does have some neat characters and there is a plot. granted, there are more plot holes and things you have to forgive in these movies compared to the prequels. that being said, they're very pretty movies, some of the best movies when it comes to visuals and sound design.

@0retro03 жыл бұрын
i think of it this way: george lucas had been building the plot of the prequels in his mind ever since the very beginning (in fact, empire strikes back has ALWAYS been episode 5 ever since its first theatrical release) the sequel films felt, at least to me, like disney saw the amount of money star wars was making and then tossed a notebook at jj abrams and said "make a new star war. you have one year. also make sure you put in a lot of nostalgia bait." and they just did that every other year for a few years. now, you could make the argument that because rogue one was a great film made under disney, who's to say the other ones were great films? you could also say the prequels are just one BIG nostalgia bait. and that's totally fine! you can see it that way if you'd like. i'm not here to police what movies you prefer. prequel politics aren't for everyone, and, once again, that's fine! tl;dr -- i disagree with your thoughts on the sequels vs prequels but thats ok and we can both enjoy what we want to enjoy

I went into these movies determined not to hate them. And so now, I don't. Granted there are some things that mess with my belief system of this universe and the Force. And, I wanted Rey to have had at least some... training.. before she beat Kylo in duel. But all in all. To me this first movie still had a lot of potential. Now come the next movie I believe you can definitely feel the switch of directors. And how seriously or unseriously that director takes the Star Wars universe "rules". And ultimately I believe that is the big issue of most fans: they feel like the humor in the movies is taking a jab at franchise. But more on this critique during your next view man :D for now.Good things (imo): - the acting Daisy Ridley does a great job, regardless of how people hate her because of the plot. And Adam Driver.. I don't know how else you would portray a millennial kid with anger issues and too much power... He just does a phenomenal job. - the cameo's of older characters: Han, Chewie, Leya, Luke they gave me a warm and hyped feeling. - Kylo Ren's lightsaber and how he wields it is fantastic. I don't care what other people say. (he wields his lightsaber with emotion and rage. And you can see it in each fight sequence) - After Chewie shoots Kylo (when he kills Han), he limps during the duel with Rey. And there is a point where he beats the injury with his fist. Apparently vikings did this in the early days to generate adrenaline in a fight when they were wounded. I heard rumors Adam Driver copied this for Kylo Ren. - The setup for Rey finally getting training from none other than Luke Skywalker. ... Now, let's hope they don't mess this up...

It felt like genuine star wars in episode 7 in the theater until we realized what their whole non-plan was. It had so much potential to be very cerebral and deep.
@lisamarieligreci-newton78043 жыл бұрын
I actually seriously disliked TFA and think it did as much damage to the legacy as TLJ did - it was pretty clear that they just intended to rehash ANH but the only way they could do so was to totally undermine everything the originals accomplished it, to establish that Han/Luke/Leia were basically sad old failures (Leia excepted, maybe), and eliminated a ton of interesting story possibilities (the New Republic, the new Jedi Academy which could have resulted in a lot of interesting characters and story directions and conflicts). I actually don't mind Rey and Finn at all in this movie - they both had a ton of potential and I enjoyed them in this movie (nor do I feel a lot of the antipathy towards Rey a lot of the sequel haters do). But it was clear to me they couldn't figure out how to tell their own story or come up with their own compelling characters that would be in addition to the legacy characters. Even Ben/Kylo was an interesting idea, or Luke having struggles and overcoming doubts is an interesting idea, I just hate the way it was executed. Especially as there was zero plan/coordination between the 3 movies at all. There are a ton of interesting stories you could tell with the idea of Rey, for example, being a kind of clone or Force experiment of the Emperor's (trying to re-create Anakin, maybe) who ends up getting hidden and ultimately overcomes her dark past. Or Finn, a stormtrooper who is overcoming his conditioning. But none of it was actually set up or planned for. I just remember being so bummed when I saw this movie because I hated that they had Han abandon his family, I hated that yet another Skywalker had turned to the dark side, and I hated that they completely skipped the story I was most interested in, which was seeing Luke build up the Jedi in a new way to avoid/learn from the flaws of the prequel Jedi. There is definitely a place for a remnant/First Order, but I don't think they should have flat out taken over. Sorry, that was a huge rant.

Did you know that the planet that Starkiller Base (the First Order’s superweapon) is on is the planet Ilum where as seen in Star Wars The Clone Wars is where Jedi Younglings go to get their kyber crystals for their lightsabers?
@BlueLeader101 Жыл бұрын
It’s so sad that first the Empire pillaged crystals from Ilum so much it left a big wide crater in its surface and then the First Order turned that sacred Jedi planet into a weapon of unfathomable destruction.

After rewatching 7-9 this weekend I had to watch your reactions. I loved 7 right away but 8 and 9 have had to grow on me. I hate how rude people are in the comments who don't like these movies. I've been a Star Wars fan for almost 40 years and could still find things to enjoy. To each his own...

Personally Episode 7 is actually my favourite out of all the stars wars movies. It showed a lot of potential before the Disney director drama. I saw it opening night and rewatched all 6 movies 24 hours before. Will never forget that night of the premier of 7. Idk wtf episode 8 and 9 were. They were just a mess.

A big pet peeve i have w the sequels is that disney doesn’t know how lightsabers work. When kylo cuts fins spine it wouldn’t have just cut his back, it would have gone through him and killed him

A lot of people complain about the fight between Kylo Ren and Rey, but he was hit by a Wookie bowcaster and had no medical attention before the fight. He wasn't exactly in top shape and most die after a single hit.

The reason why Han Solo died was because Harrison Ford (actor of Han Solo), wanted Han Solo to be killed off. He didn’t want to play Han Solo anymore.

Primate... Don't listen to the SW fandom about how you should feel about the movies. It's grown so toxic. The extremely hard core fanatics practically hate everything about the series now. Dude, just enjoy it. It's not life or death. Hell, the original trilogy has plot holes, and Lucas can't write dialogue for shit. The 11 films are flawed but still great entertainment.

Primate... The problem us hardcore fans have is the lack of development and reused plots. Rey shouldnt start out being able to use Jedi mind tricks and pilot ships. She has no flaws. Also the way they used some characters (Luke) is interesting to say the least. Even Mark Hammill wasn't very happy with it. I wanted so badly to like these movies.
