I can't believe it's been a year already! I remember last Vlogmas, I think Day One or Two, I spied your little ultrasound pictures of Gigi on your fridge. Having a baby totally changes everything! You're doing what's best for you and Gigi. Chicago will be there later when everyone feels better and it will be more fun. That said, I have to tell you that your daughter has to be one of the happiest babies I've ever seen! I know she has her moments like every baby, but just seeing how happy she is says so much about about what good parents you are. My family is grown, but I haven't forgotten how hard it was at times, so well done!

Be careful what you put on your hardwood floors. Both of the products you're using are going to create a build up and over time gunk up your floors. Then you will eventually have to get it up which will be a major pain. Try Bona products or Armstrong products which are supposed to be really good for your floors. Same thing goes for floors that are vinyl but look like wood.

Steam mops and wet mops can and probably will warp hardwood floors try using the Bona Dry mop-method while changing out the pad at least twice while using. Bona has an heavy duty cleaner now that I recommend to start with and then switch to the normal. Just a mist goes a long way. Even diluting bo is recommended if you are cleaning the floors often. Lie the Swiffer dry pads. I buy mine at the Dollar store as well. I've been cleaning houses for awhile and have never gone wrong with Bona.

Bona are the best for hard wood floors. Also white vinegar and a little lemon juice is good. I wouldn't use dawn dish detergent. That might end up doing damage down the road. Method products are good to

yes,I've always heard to treat hardwood floors like a tabletop piece. Dusting or vacuuming with gentle/ no beater bar vacuum.

Susan Carlton I was coming here to say the same thing. My aunt used that pledge wood floor shine for a couple years and she had such a bad build up that it looked horrible and she had to pay to have her floors refinished. Expensive 👎🏻

Tyler, The high traffic quick shine can be found at Walgreens in the laundry/home cleaning isle. Usually on the bottom shelf near the rest of the cleaning products. While floorplans aren't exactly the same in every store, the aim is to make the pretty consistent. (Yes, I work at Walgreens. But I am graduating from University soon so not for much longer)

One of the best things I started years ago was the habit of not wearing shoes in the house. Setting up a simple rack in the garage or a cute themed bench/mud area is so easy and handy and the difference in how clean the floors stay is unbelievable! Truly a game changer.

Home Depot Carrie's the quick shine. Since I mentioned Home Depot they have a great toilet bowl cleaner, Zep acidic toilet bowl cleaner. It will clean any stains in a toilet and make it look brand new.

Tyler, I use two swifter wands as poles to allow me to walk on ice after a storm. It is unreal how I could get across an ice sheet street to visit my neighbors and down the sidewalk. Your parents are probably ready for them. They are helpful for people with compromised hips to get out of a chair. Never throw one out.

We just installed engineered hardwood floors and all of the research I’ve done says NO to water on wood floors (including steam). They say that’s what starts ruining the finish (even the engineered, which have 30-50 year warranties on the finish). They recommend floor cleaner (like the method product you showed).

Hey so for our hardwood floors we used Quick Shine Floor polish. 2 coats, 24 hours apart. It is safe for pets and kiddos to be around it. We also used to use Orange Glo.

Tell Tyler there’s nothing better than the hardwood luster by Holloway house. Our stores quit carrying it to, but Amazon has it. We order the larger one & refill the small bottle.

Also Tyler, Holloway House is one of the best for wood floors. I used to have a cleaning service and we used a lot of their products. Their lemon oil furniture polish is great too.

I'm not sure why but the floor between the oven and island you can really see the shine on the floor much better than the rest of the kitchen. Must be the angle or the lighting or both, maybe magic, not sure. 😁 BTW, I have an excellent husband of 23 years and I don't think in all that time he's ever mopped our floors, vacuum yes, clean the bathroom yes, do dishes, wash clothes, yes but never a mop with a bucket of water. He also never understood why I would get down with a scrub brush every couple months. I'll take what I can get but I think it's great you both just do what needs to be done.

For the floor thing, do you guys keep your shoes on inside? I've found almost 20 years ago that when I made everyone remove their outside shoes (I provide slippers or disposable booties if they want them) when they come inside, it keeps floors, carpets and rugs sooo much cleaner (and you're also not tracking in all the gross pavement and sidewalk stuff into your house).

The spray and go never worked for us. Murphy’s oil diluted with a bucket of water and mopped/hand mopped was our go to with wood floors. Our floors were nearly 90 years old and needed to be refinished and we could never afford it. It’s great knowing that the new owners that have them now restored them to their former glory.

Meyers oil soap!! mix like, a couple tablespoons with water - it cleans and polishes hardwood. it’s the only thing i use on my hardwood (not laminate, it’s actual wood) - it’s amazing and it will last you forever. i put the mixture in the swiffer thing that goes on the mop and i’m gooooood to gooooooo

A steam mop will warp your floors - I highly recommend you stop using it. I recommend you use Bona floor cleaner or Murphy’s Oils soap for cleaning the floor after vacuuming or sweeping it. Buffing it every once in a while helps keep the shine up. If the floor is older, sometimes it just needs to be stripped and refinished.

Walmart has their Great Value brand cookies, called fudge and mint cookies... basically the same thing as Girl Scout cookies, year round, and about $1 per container. They have the tagalongs, and the samoas, too. They taste exactly like the authentic Girl Scout cookies. Something to consider, when you don't have time to make your own.

If you know if your hardwood was waxed or varnished either way it's only an 8 hr job to give them a light sand and wax/varnish them. The protective coating is wearing thin on your floors the more it wears thin the closer you get to damaging the actual wood.

You should try Vanessa’s Vanity. The eyeshadow called Vintage Champagne is SO pretty. I tried it after watching Tati use it. I use it all of the time. I would like to try more of their products.
