I LOVE when Paul does his deep roaring voice. He has an insane 4 and a half octave range, and NO ONE ever talks about that -- because the Beatles were so good at EVERYTHING

There is disagreement on the exact number, but it's accepted that Rogue could hurt 3, Freddie is said to hit three, but, most of us believe that isn't accurate, he could hit more me v And McCartney, in his prime was generally tight to be able saying anywhere from 3-5. All these numbers depend on what source you choose to believe. Suffice it to say, they were all incredibly talented with huge voices.

The roof top concert was the last time they ever played live. Growing up in the 60's had good and bad times, but the music is timeless. I'm so glad you are able to enjoy this.

I don't know if younger people know how great the Beatles were as musicians. They cut their teeth in small clubs in the early 60's playing in Germany and England. That's why these little performances are such gems to listen to. Paul had a voice that was iconic in his time and it still sounds great today.

Paul could rock when he wanted to. He could really rock. People sometimes forget that. Some of the best Beatles hard core rock songs are Paul songs. I adore John, but you gotta give Paul his due here. Just hard core rocking. Similar with Hey Jude, Helter Skelter, the first real heavy metal song, and many others.
@thomastimlin1724
@thomastimlin1724 Ай бұрын
There was no such thing as "Heavy Metal " when Helter Skelter was recorded and released. Renaming the dong to suit a narrative agenda won't change that fact. Little known to the younger set is the Charles Manson murders of Sharon Tate and others used the song Helter Skelter in a sick warped way. Manson firmly asserted, in court, that The Beatles’ song, “Helter Skelter” inspired him to plan and direct the Tate/La Bianca murders in 1969. Mason and his followers were sickos, murderers, and drug users. I find the admiration of Helter Skelter for this horrendous clan of idiots and murderers left out of most younger folks narrative of validating the song as the first heavy metal song really way out of context because they don't know and did NOT live this history. It was not a song about murder or death, but it's unwarranted affiliation by default of the murderous events brings sad memories. Another part of the "out of context" is bands like Led Zeppelin was already doing what as then called "Hard Rock" [not Heavy Metal] at the time of the White Album's release. This is a Hard Rock Song....Where do they think the restaurant The Hard Rock Cafe got the name from? Are we now supposed to rename it the Heavy Metal Cafe to suit the narrative of the younger set? Retro use of so called modern terminology of musical categories is ridiculous. Pretty soon Led Zeppelin or Earth Wind and Fire will be called "Boy Bands" just because there are only male members in the band. And R and B [Rhythm and Blues] will now become "Hip Hop with Melody..." insert eye roll here....

Great choice of song, and The Beatles rooftop is my favorite too. That was their last public live performance, and prior to that, they hadn't done live concerts for years. Knowing that, imagine walking down the street on an ordinary cold winter day, and noticing The Beatles playing live on the rooftop. Something that might be of interest were John's statement after the concert, "I'd just like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition. If you do more songs from this concert I would recommend I Dig a Pony or one of the versions of Get back. I hope you get well soon.

I was 12 years old when this album came out, already well aware of The Beatles. This opening track just shot me into orbit. I thought “This is how good music is gonna be from now on.” I was wrong.

The Beatles are honestly God-tier for live sound. That's part of why so many recordings from the rooftop concert are the recordings that end up on the final album. They played live together SO MUCH, especially in their early years, that their sound as a unit was just unbreakable!

In one of the other moments in the Get Back documentary they interview people down on the street. They ask them if they know who it is. Most people say The Beatles, there was a few who didn't know but most people knew who it was. All the songs were unreleased so people heard them for the first time right there. The songs ended up on the Let It Be Album.

Actually Don't Let Me Down was released as a single (the B side of Get Back) and didn't appear on the Let It Be album. It was released in 1970 on the Hey Jude compilation album. Which was mainly songs released as singles and their "B sides' that weren't on their official studio albums.

Im sorry but George Harrison is the coolest mf, look at him casually playing like a badass without giving a f, 2:13 gives me goosebumps, he was insane for that!! Even John was digging that, they both start smiling at each other near the end. Also, Paul McCartney scaring himself with his own voice around 2:11 is adorable. What a voice, though.

I'll add they did not want to play to an audience because they already went through that giving 1,000% as the mop tops with all the chaos of large crowds. They needed a better movie producer and a better manager after Brian Epstein died. Allen Klein was a greedy idiot and except for Paul the band fell for it hook line and sinker.

They played more songs on the roof. I think five. You can find them. It was a famous event since they hadn’t performed live in years. The rooftop concert was an impromptu decision. No one wanted to do it. Then Ringo said he did. So they all agreed.

"Those people" were all coming out of their west end London offices, some to complain about the noise, and most to see what was happening. People on the street could not see them. It was all a surprise. Also, all the Beatles will tell you, from 1964-66 their live shows were appalling. They couldn't hear themselves play, and with all the screaming, nobody else could either. This was their best since 1962-63. They were stuck in the studio from 66-69 with no concerts anywhere.

PA systems needed to play live gigs for bands didn’t really improve until 1970. Crazy that Beatles their gigs in North America with just their amps and a rudimentary two microphone portable PA system.

The Rooftop Concert was their last Live Public Performance. There's a true story in this song. John's first wife missed a train because a policeman thought she was a fan. They divorced shortly after that. You should check out the New Beatles Songs. They're actually songs John recorded on cassette before he was assassinated. 'Free As A Bird', 'Real Love' and ' Now & Then' the remaining Beatles finished. George didn't like the last one, but they did it after his death. But don't forget the movies, A Hard Day's Night & HELP!, and their animated movie Yellow Submarine.

An ordinary day in London, Saville Row, on a bitterly cold January lunchtime 1969. Suddenly, you hear this 'rock concert.' You look around, wondering where the heck it's coming from? Then it dawns: Abbey Road studios, where the Beatles record their songs. People can't see them from the street below, but they can hear them - trying out brand new material on an unsuspecting public. It's a once-in-a-life-time moment. Forget going back to work, just listen. Some of the older generation complain, bemused by it all - brought up in a completely different era, this sudden loud noise is alien to them. On the roof, 4 Beatles and '5th' Beatle Billy Preston on keyboard. A killjoy in one of Saville Rows posh shops rings the police complaining. He or she will never tell anyone what they did because no one will forgive them. The Police arrive. Young men, probably all Beatles fans, brought up with their music, reluctantly carry out their duty. The Beatles complete 6 songs, all brand new, not even recorded yet. It is the last live concert they will ever do. Some of the Beatles want to be arrested! Who knows why? Lennon a natural rebel can be explained, but goody two shoes Paul? 55 years later we watch one of their songs on KZbin on our computers, laptops, phones, tablets - unimaginable back then apart from in a few 'way out' sci-fi shows.

Here's you a good one. Ringo Star with the Beatles is a brother n law to Joe Walsh from the Eagles. You want to try something different? Check out Joe Walsh " Life's been good" from the album But Seriously Folks. Be sure and stay all the way to the end! That song has so many switch ups and tempo changes that are so smoothly done, you'll be impressed. Besides, it's a really fun song too. And has some cowbell in it as well. 👍
