@@Token_Nerd "Juvenile" and "for kids" are not interchangable. "Juvenile" means poop jokes and innuendo. "For kids" just means it's appropriate for younger audiences, while still respecting their intelligence. Pixar's "The Incredibles" was for kids, but you'd be hard pressed to call THAT movie juvenile. I don't buy the notion that children's programming should be held to a lower standard. If anything, it should be the opposite.
@Token_Nerd2 жыл бұрын
@@kgpspyguy On the contrary, "juvenile" literally means "of, for, or relating to young people" AKA, for kids. That's the target audience of this film. That's what many people in that target audience find funny. Not all programming, especially not all children's programming, has to be held to a higher moral standard. Can you make an argument that the juvenile undertones of this film overshadow the deeper messaging? Absolutely. Can you argue that the film is bad simply because of the juvenile humor? Absolutely not, there's far too much good in this film (Voice acting, developed humor, social commentary, animation style and creativity, pacing, etc) to be overshadowed by a giant ass joke and a murdering fart joke.

UPGRADES, PEOPLE UPGRADES! That’s how we make the dough! Now if we’re telling robots that no matter what they’re made of, they’re “fine”? How can we expect them to feel crummy enough about themselves to buy our upgrades and make themselves look better?

robots is just one of those movies, one of those really good ideas that was kicking around some guy's head all day until they finally gave him the resources to make it and he's just like "oh fucking finally" and doesn't even care that his political messages are being reigned in a little for the PG rating.

When you realize that this movie is about predatory capitalism and dictature... I mean they are literally abducting old, rusty robot to kill them and smelt them into upgrades to sell to the rich robots. Thats the equivalent of exploiting people to death (or straight up killing minorities) to produce expensive products for the wealthy elite. They managed to put a lot of criticism of capitalist exploitation and consumerist culture into this movie. I like how these movies that many people see as "for kids" often have societal or political messages in them.
