worked EXACTLY as you showed. The only thing I would add is that I needed to click on the ITunes setup from my downloaded files and right-click and Run As Administrator. Thanks man

Big help! This also works if you've uninstalled iTunes and your Quicktime installation doesn't work any more. The one thing I had to do was run the 32-bit version of Apple Application Support in order to get QT (32 bit) to work. I just installed both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions.

Sir, you are a genious. thank you so much. you are the only person that was able to correct this error for me. i did the microsoft chat support for three days and could not get anyone to fix it correctly. they were on the right path but did not have the correct order or something. thank you so much. now i have all my itunes setup folder in my downloads. i wonder , do i need to move that out of there or does it matter?

I am happy to help everyone. It won't matter if you leave it in your downloads folder or not, you can actually delete the files once it's installed if you want. You can always re-download the newest version if you ever need them again.

Your issue is discussed here: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/hresult-0x80070002-during-installation-of-itunes/6d6f46b5-e250-46b9-becf-ebf1d3c595b4?auth=1 If that doesn't work I recommending restoring your computer & reinstalling Windows. It appears there may be an issue with your Windows install that may fix your problem. Hope this helps

I am sorry it didn't work for you. The only thing I recommend is paying very close attention to the order in which the process is done. I've went so far as to uninstall Bonjour, & cleaning up the registry using a free program called CCcleaner. You could try that. Make sure all Apple components are uninstalled, then restart, then try install.

Make sure you install the mobile application support file from inside the folder where you installed the itunes64. Install the itunes64 link first, then, before you restart or open iTunes, install the mobile device support (or whatever its called), then restart and open it.

I had the same issue. Uninstall all Apple software including Bonjour, restart, follow this video to reinstall all. Reinstall the iTunes file first, then all others in that folder. Make sure to install Bonjour. After installing, restart before opening anything.
