Recently discovered Shappi and she's amazing. Her jokes are always impeccably crafted and delivered. The issue people have with women in comedy may be that some women rise in show business because they're pretty and some exec knows it will attract heterosexual male viewers. The same goes for acting. Jessica Alba was a terrible actress but got hired on a bunch of major Hollywood productions because sex sells. Being good looking doesn't necessarily give men a leg up in comedy, but being a pretty woman probably still does. So, even though the statement "women aren't funny" is false, "there are more women who aren't that comedically adept in the upper eschelons of comedy than men" may be true.
