I am planning to buy this unit soon, it's $299 at my Costco as of Jan 13 2024, that's a great deal.A few thoughts: - My old chest freezer is 7.3 cu feet and it's much bigger than the one you had; bigger than the new one laid on its size; it has about a 12 sq ft footprint in my kitchen; this will give me a lot more floor space. - Having cooling elements on each level takes up space but explains why this will cool quickly and will maintain even temperature throughout the unit. - If you fill it with frozen food from the old freezer your new one will reach lower temps even quicker and keeping the freezer full means it will actually take less energy to keep things cold. It takes energy to freeze things but very little to keep them frozen as long as you don't have a lot of air coming and going from the unit. So I would have let it cool down for an hour or two and then transferred my contents. - The advantage of the drawers is when you open the freezer the air in them does not leave the unit to be replaced with room air that has to be cooled down again. Only the air in the drawer you open will be affected. And the more full the drawers the more stable the temperature will remain. - I do think I might take out one or two drawers and replace with two or three sturdy, clear, plastic bins on each shelf because they allow more compartmentalizing and maybe for some things better organization -- plus I think I can finds ones that are stronger. It would be a good idea to put a sheet of thin plexiglass on the levels you take the drawers from to protect the coils. - I laughed at the ice cube tray. That's really pretty feeble!

Great video, just bought and watched your review. I wondered about removing drawers for more storage, glad you covered that. Prior to watching your review I was going to return it but your video changed my mind. I think this will do the job, especially for $300, mainly just bought it to store my winter deer harvest. Thanks again for an informative and entertaining review.

Have been looking for a freezer on line for some time now wanted skinny one with decent price not happy with ones I had been seeing just went to Costco this morning saw this one liked it very much fell in love with the style of it price budget friendly. Told had to buy online if I needed it delivered. Excited… waiting!! So thank you for the review video took away any slight questionings I might have had appreciate that. By the way the attraction to me were the drawers they looked pretty roomy. Now I can organize everything by drawers.

Just got my freeze today and also in NC. Instructions also say two hours on setting 7 and then adjust, so, you are exactly right. Your reaction to the ice cube tray 😂 It looks like it’s for a toddler.

Hi, thank you for your video. I have the same model. I just bought it yesterday. The outer sides of my freezer are hot to the touch. Do you think this is normal? Thank you

@IvanRossS Жыл бұрын
@@DJ4576 yes lol. Why wouldn't it.? Now if it's a New York style, gigantic size box then it will not go to fit lol. And for the pizza boxes you would have to remove drawers anyway. At this moment I removed 4 drawers to increase amount I can store

@IvanRossS3 ай бұрын
@@sandrarentfrow6022 sorry I will not make a video about it because more you open, more ice build up you will have... ! So it's person to person.. I have to defrost mine every year due to build up because I open my deep freezer every single day, sometimes multiple times a day and it sits in a hot garage. I treat my deep freezer as a regular freezer... some people treat their deep freezer as deep freezer lol and open it once a week if not even that

I noticed you transported on its side and I will be doing the same. Any particular side that should be placed down?
@IvanRossS Жыл бұрын
No lol. No particular side at all. just do not turn it right away, I let it sit in the box , in my garage for over 24 hours. I just did not have the time to get to it and I was working. But you do not need to wait whole 24 hours. U will be fine after like 2 hr
@brucefarber98752 ай бұрын
@@IvanRossS Costco appliance tech advised to let it stand upright not plugged in for 24 hours if you transport it laying down inside your SUV. HB instructions say to transport vertical - many people have Costco deliver and set up. I lay it on its back for about 1/2 hour to get home, stood it up, got it ready, plugged in after 24 hours. Oil in the coolant needs to settle out.

What was the warmest it got before the compressor turned back on?
@IvanRossSАй бұрын
It all depends at what settings you set. I have no idea how many degrees it goes down before ompressor get turn back on. It uses internal thermostat located on the top of the deep freezer behind the panel. It's still running, running strong I already defrosted twice since I had it. Costco now sell bigger size of this style deep freezer and I'm very much looking into getting a bigger size. $499

How did you get it to not wobble? Only 2 feet seems strange
@IvanRossS Жыл бұрын
It was fairly easy, but you just have to fill it up. It is pretty wobbly when it's empty and also when you pulled the door, it's so tight because it's technically vacuum-sealed. So when you pulling on the door - whole freezer will pull. And it's absolutely normal you just have to fill it up with food.
