Bro, your authenticity is refreshing. People are fake as, well, you know. You’re the real deal, man. Weak people hide their $h!+ and pretend all is well when it isn’t. You are in good company Al. More than half the U.S. has depression and anxiety. The courageous few that go to the doctor and do something about their depression and anxiety are heroes in my book. What you do with yards is an actual grounding skill when anxiety gets started. By talking about it, you have encouraged many to seek help. Mental health is just that. It's merely a specialty, like pediatricians. Also, by you talking openly, you've broken barriers. So many people have such a stigma about mental health. I'm so proud of you Al.😊❤

Unless you know of a real survey or have personally done a survey of every single person in the U.S., you cannot state that “ more than half” the U.S. has depression and anxiety.

@@altheamurphy427 My best friend was a psychologist. My estimation was pre-pandemic. So, my percentage was on the low side. I was merely stating the stigma involved, despite so many with the same diagnosis. And, those that do something about their condition and speak openly reduce the stigma. I won't apologize for your misunderstanding. I'm pretty sure that wasn't Al's intention, nor mine.

Hi Sharon, your comment was not out of line and totally appropriate. I went through cancer treatment 5 years ago and it was after my treatment and surgeries were complete that I developed anxiety and depression. I didn’t realize at first what was happening. I was paralyzed with panic. So weird as I have never had that. I didn’t want anyone to know it either even though my behavior was a definite giveaway. That went on about a year. Finally, I went to seek help, pushed myself out of my hidden comfort zone, started eating better, exercising and getting good rest. Happy to say, I’m back 👍🏼. Al had mentioned in one of his videos about feeling a disconnect (in his head). That is a real symptom. My brain was not able to connect with anything, the simplest task or even family. That was very unsettling. Take your time Al, heal and we’ll all still be here waiting for you ❤. Be well everyone
@sharonwilson8208
@sharonwilson8208 2 ай бұрын
@@deborahallen5162 I can attest to that feeling of disconnected. The most simple task was overwhelming. Things I could do in my sleep, never gave any thought about doing, suddenly was so overwhelming. I started playing the piano again, and the most simple songs were not making it to my fingers. I closed my eyes, and let my fingers speak to my mind. I just kept playing that way. I was rusty, but after playing over and over, it came back to me. Then, my daughter wanted me to accompany her at church. I wanted to die! It was too late. All the kids I had tutored at school and went to our church just assumed I would play. Simple enough song, but I hadn't performed in years. I lived, the children were great, and no one knew I needed to put on more deodorant 😂.

Getting an actual diagnosis is so very important. I think you’d be surprised how many of your viewers/friends (me included) deal with depression and/or anxiety. I have tried to manage both for years. I’m blessed with a family and friends who are my support system. I pray you will let us be your support system. And, that includes your wife because she feels your pain. Good bless you both! ❤️🙏🥰 (We live in Maitland, so I4 is our stress test.) It is so obvious how much your wife loves you and supports you.

Al, i had a traumatic experience with my daughter a few years back. I lost her. Soon after i felt like i was going to have a heart attack. Tightening in my chest. Hard to breathe. I am a person who HATES Dr's and hospitals. For 7 months i was certain my heart was bad and i would soon die and go to be with my daughter. One day I was working outside and couldn't catch my breath due to chest cramp. My mother forced me to the hospital. I was awaiting news of my failing heart..and was given a very small amount of anti anxiety medication..i asked them what they did to me. My chest cramp immediately released and i was able to breathe freely for the first time in many months. The medication is the only thing that has worked for me. I hope you can find your way back to normal. Anxiety is the WORST feeling.

Your stronger than you think. Think of all the physical stuff you accomplish, mostly by yourself. The fact that you struck out on your own to do the free mowing & starting up your KZbin channel. The amazing rate at which your channel grew. The fact that you have thousands of people, who don't even really know you -- praying for you, rooting for you, concerned for you, missing you, & responding to you. You have accomplished soooo much & affected so many lives with your kind gestures, and mannerisms. You have touched people and drawn them into your life and inner circle -- amazing for such a young man. I still believe writing things down, like "my blessings list" VS my "angst list". Or just putting pen to paper of how you felt each day --- is such a release for your psyche. == Like having an anonymous friend there listening to you spill your thoughts out. How ever you get there -- just know your strong enough to get there !! The proof is in ALL you've already accomplished. Blessings to you and yours. 🥀🌹🥀🙏🙏🙏

Al, I'm 55 and have battled anxiety and depression my whole life. If you can muster the courage, which is hard to do when you're in that deep dark hole, mindfully start focusing on other people. A children's home, hospital, nursing home, underprivileged kids you're aware of, etc. Focus on doing something to help others. It will help you more than it helps them. You're the type of person who can really make a difference and it will astonish you how much it helps you.

You have my support, AL. I also got diagnosed with agoraphobia besides anxiety and depression. I'm 59 and was a people person. I used to work at a local bank and was an assistant manager , I, too, had no idea what happened to me to spiral down that lonely street. I had to quit my job and couldn't leave the house. Being around large crowds was a big no-no for me. But after years of therapy, I now can control my mind to be able to get out there and co-exist with people. But huge crowds are a no still. Small gatherings are okay. One moment at a time when things get tough, just step back. Take the time to readjust your mind and breathe . Think of good things. God bless you and your family. ❤🙏

Good for you Al that you are facing your condition. I am 70 years old and have been suffering with panic disorder for 30 years. 30 years ago no one really talked about these issues , so I really had no idea what was happening to me. This in turn caused my panic attacks to intensify. I would feel it coming (I know you understand how this feels) and all I could think was,” OMG what’s happening to me “. Heart pounding, cold sweat, breathing hard, etc. All going on at the same time. I really thought I was going crazy. At that time I was a NYC high school teacher (now retired), and I had to work that way. Eventually I was able to get the help I needed. The meds I take have been a tremendous help and I’m grateful I found a treatment that works for me.what I want to say to you is ( take this well meaning advice from an old lady),: Don’t push, take your time and you’ll find what works for you. You’re going to have a good day and a bad day. Allow yourself to be and do whatever you have to do to get through that day. Tomorrow you’ll face whatever comes along then, even if it means to do nothing at all. That’s ok. You’re the one dealing with this and all you can do is whatever you can do that day. People who don’t suffer from these types of issues don’t realize how exhausted you feel after an episode. You’re feeling all beat up. Anywho, just know you’re not alone and lucky you to have your lovely wife in your corner. All the best to you and your beautiful family. I’ll keep you in my prayers. I totally closed down to my family and friends and i ended up in a world of my own and did not speak to anyone, i now dont work due to the illness and been on the medication as my job was safety critical, my wife was my saviour and got me the help i needed and supported me through the hard days, i finally went for mental health treatment and the staff was great they were the ones that got me to find a hobby to do as i did nothing but work and never had any time with my family and things just got on top of me, so thats why i started repairing small engines and started a small youtube channel i am on long term medication but not taken the full does now as i am starting to to control it, but i do still have my bad days but not as many as i did at the start, i have learnt what i need to do if i start to feel down and the best thing is TALK TO SOMEONE, i can admit i was really scared and never cried so much in my life for been a grown man. what you have done to speak out is a really good thing and keep up the great work you do (Am really sorry this is a long comment)

Bless your heart Al! I’m 77 & have only had 2 anxiety attacks … both within the past 2 years. I can only guess what your generation worry about to bring it on, but I am glad I’m old! Keep your chin up with continued help from a counselor, wife, friends, and you’ll surely conquer this troublesome issue! You can do it!

Al, continue to hang in there. Anxiety and depression suck but one can learn how to.manage it - the most frustrating thing for me is that people see me and think I look normal and sound normal but internally I am filled with anxiety and depression and so that makes it extra hard, I think because people have no idea what I’m experiencing when I’m experiencing it, unless I say something so good for you for speaking up….and how sweet and thoughtful of you to get your wife a present and flowers, just because…we need more humans like you 👍👍👍❤️

Hi Al, years ago I had depression. I resisted jumping off a bridge every day going to work. The 1st time time I took a pill for depression I could feel tingling at the base of my head. A Life Saver!!

Hey, Al! So glad to see you posting. How wonderfully sweet of you to surprise Shilo. I know that made her feel good. You have been blessed with such a wonderful family and supporters in your life.(KZbin fam) We each care about yours and your family's well being. Glad you are pressing forward and just taking it a day at a time. Like I've said before, just stay focused on God, your family and others it will help so much. When you start to get those feelings, find something to keep you busy, or call on your wife, family and friends to talk you through. You are loved by everyone, and Jesus loves you, too. You were wonderfully made. God bless you and your family. 😊🙏 Thanks for sharing the video!

Bladez. Your an inspiration to everyone who watches your videos. I will say as an 80 year old career combat veteran that what your experiencing is very common and it will pass. We all have periods of anxiety and depression. They always pass. It helps a lot if you have a plan for what your going to do everyday. Doesnt matter how big or little the goal you set. Also...i'm not a religious man but i maintain a spiritual relationship with God because each one of us is created for a reason, and that's enough for me to know. Life is both difficult and wonderful all at the same time. Best wishes to you and your family. .

Knowing now why i struggle in so many things has helped my depression and anxiety so much because i can see where its coming from and whats going on. Im glad you found a doctor that listens and your getting to where you can go out with confidence again. Baby steps

Hang in there. And you seem to be doing good, you’ve got this. 25 years ago when I was going through anxiety, my therapist compared it to a gremlin that you just had to talk down from the bad times. Take it even one hour at a time. I wish my son could see you as an inspiration. After his girlfriend died in a car accident, he never fully recovered from his depression and died five years later, five years ago from drugs. You’re doing amazing. Keep on doing what you’re doing.

Hey Al, thank you for taking everyone along as you document this part of your life. It's a HUGE thing for you to do this... It helps break down the stigma associated with mental health. Not everyone clicks with the 1st mental health professional they see, sometimes a person has to see more than 1 before it feels right. I love that you showed getting something special for your wife. A long time ago, I read about something called "The Love Bank". When you do nice things for a partner you are making deposits in the Love Bank. One can also do stupid things that cause there to be withdrawals from the love bank. KEEP making the deposits and your relationship will be all the better. 💖

One thing you will do is pull through. I'm going through it as well. Something definitely put our inner spirit down but that will mow itself away also. Find that confidence and drive we need back. My anxiety, up and down but I got up and said let's start with breathing and not go there today. Hot showers, motivational speeches and surrounded by people you love.❤❤❤. We here for you.

Really proud of you. I think you showing your emotional journey is a great idea. Just don’t let the pressures of showing us impede your progress. It’s ok if you slide back a bit and have to rework an approach to a struggle. You will not be letting us down! It is a difficult thing to work through and there are no cookie cutter solves to it. You have to find what works for you. Prayers to you! I feel the need to tell you that when I watch your mowing videos (or others turning wood, or others painting on a canvas, etc) it is a great reliever of anxiety and depression for me! So you were already helping a viewer! My sister laughs at me when she calls and I tell her I’m watching a guy mow lawns on KZbin. But she’s so happy my own emotional struggles have lessened as I’ve found people like you. So thank you!

🦋 You’re right you have to face your fears, but you also have to do it in a reasonable manner and work up to it and in the beginning try not to put yourself in a situation that you can’t get out of rather quickly so that you don’t get in a situation where your anxiety just escalates because you’re trapped.

Give it to God....When you start to feel it coming on read His word and put some worship music on. I have delt with it for years. Dr put me on depression meds. I talk to my pastor then about it. He told me to get off them. And that our Joy comes from the Lord. I listened to him. Then wow. God is faithful. He will turn the bad to good for those who believe. You are a blessing to so many Al. Dont let satan steele what God has gifted you with. I know some non believers will attack me on this. And thats ok. I know my God is real. From experience...
