hand lotion! after wash and conditioning, brush or comb hand lotion into he wet wig. do not rinse. let the wig drip dry. This method saved my life with my Grell cosplay. (careful. too much will make your wig feel dirty) It's a great method that also works to make cheap wigs look less shiny!

Tbh I'm going to use the 'hook and pull' method on my own hair
@ayanhart7 жыл бұрын
Tbh the first half should already be common knowledge for people with long hair. I already knew thanks to dealing with my own longer-than-waist-length hair. Something she did neglect to mention though she did it herself is to start from the tips when combing, otherwise you just end up with a big ball of frizz that gets harder and harder to comb.

What I have started to do for my long hair is after the shampoo is keep a wide comb in the shower with you and hook it around one of the hot/cold knobs if you have two or the singular one or the faucet for the bath and then after you shampoo and wash it out (I shampoo and spray my hair with Johnson and Johnson's baby detangling spray as I have found others due to my sensitive skin and sensitive scalp make me itch, break out, etc. more) comb it out and not only does that work more of the shampoo through BUT that also helps to straighten before adding the conditioner to lessen it knotting when both go in! Also, while I do not cosplay I would recommend the baby detangler for the wigs as it contains no silicone and/or other "hair stripping" and/or "color stripping" chemicals that could damage the synthetic wig unlike the horse hair detangling spray. Some of my friends with longer hair go so far as to step out of the shower after a shampoo and brush their whole hair out and use their straightener and then go back in and do the conditioner portion and I admit I did try that once and it did make it more manageable but for my hair all of that heat makes my hair just too dry and scalp just too itchy and annoying, so I just stick to combing after shampooing and then after I condition spray my hair and comb it out and straighten after my full shower. It has cut down what used to be ALMOST 3 HOURS even with hooking and pulling my thick long hair to 30! Also, every other day I ONLY condition and so 4 days a week I just condition to the maximum amount of time stated on the bottle's directions and then three days a week I shampoo and condition! It has also caused me to give up the medicated shampoo I thought I would be dependent on forever as a "booster" after my favorite shampoo/conditioner (the Head and Shoulders Sensitive Scalp bottle) was discontinued and their other "close" formulas do not work for my hair type and the "fragrances/dyes/etc." they use in them cause skin issues for me (their eucalyptus one caused me to lose half my face once and I have a nut allergy so I can't use the almond one for Dry Scalp).

Another tip for curling wigs that are made low quality fibers is to use boiling water. After the curlers are in place use boiling water to drench each hair section ( carefully over a sink!!), allow to dry completely before removing curlers. It will set the curl a little stronger than usual and is often used on dolls for resetting the curl to their frizzy tangled hair. :)

Another tip to mention is when storing your wigs, braid them to prevent harsh tangling whether you’re packing for a con, or wont be wearing it for a while. On another note, I did this tutorial with my Miku wig pieces, and it worked so good for the 2 days I cosplayed as her. Then I just kinda threw it to the side lol. THANK YOU for stating the safety precaution of using the "horse and mane detangling" spray of it being super slippery on surface of the floor! I used this stuff on one of my very first cosplay wigs (hatsune miku) when I started cosplaying years back to help detangle the clips and I sprayed a lot on that stuff on the fibers over wood floor. The next day I walked by the area that I was styling at and about fell on my back within a second because the floor was so slippery! 😱😱 I even tried using it over carpeting to avoid falling but that stuff even makes your carpet slippery too! Lol this stuff is awesome but I've learned to be careful of covering the floor before spraying this stuff.

Wooooooooow this is one of the most helpful videos I've seen on synthetic wigs. Honestly, life changing! Going to buy fabric softener right now!!

Fantastic - bought a wig on eBay, it was far more tangled than the photos suggested. I thought it was pointless but tried your method - it’s like new now! I’ve never done it before. Thanks 🙏

This is the most helpful video in the world! I have had such a hard time with my longer wigs because even after taking out of the packages, they automatically tangle. I am definitely going to try to fix it now! I had heard about the fabric softener trick, but I am glad to have an actual tutorial now!

I was in desperate need of a tutorial to help detangle my Tsuyu Asui wigs. As you can imagine the wig is very long and can easily be tangled. I experimented with steaming my wig and I successfully detangle the entire wig and added her hair oil to keep its beautiful natural straight hair. I just want to thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial, I sent this video to every of my friends who are cosplayers drag queens etc! This video saved my life thank you so much! 💫💕

I almost threw away an old cosplay wig cause it was in such bad shape but I soaked it for a day and then used a straight iron. What worked amazing well and surprised me was flat ironing over the tangles to get rid of some of the frizz and then working through the tangles. The wig isn't perfect but it looks so much better! Thanks!

Thank you so much! The only videos I have seen before this don't tell how to prevent tangles in the first place. I'll definitely be subscribing.
