Iwata W-300 Spot Repair Spray Gun Review & Demo

This video is a review & demonstration of the Iwata W-300 Platinum Elite limited edition Mini/Midi spray gun. I got the 1.2 WB1 set-up. It comes in a hard plastic carry case and they've added lots of handy things like an analog gauge, a blower, spanners & some cleaning tools. To see if I class it as a buy, watch the video.

As usual your demo videos are well done. I like that you go for the best bang for the buck. There is no doubt that Devilbis is probably one of the best bangs for the buck, watching your videos I still went with Sata for my full size and mini guns but my finances are different than most young folks starting out. I did go with one of the cheaper Iwata guns in the 1.8 tips that works real well with primer and I will also use it for large metal flake base coats. To all the young folks looking for a value I say listen to the Gunman he is spot on and you won’t be sorry.

I use my ANI R 150 and my Iwata W400 BellAria more than any other gun. I have always rated the W400, they are a fantastic gun! The ANI is a good mini gun! And yes we pay a shit load of tax on everything here in the U.K, however our Alcohol is much cheaper! (My dad lives down the road from you)! Every cloud and all! lol

Hey Gunny. Have you tried the Iwata Air Gunza impact junior? I use it on all my touch ups like bumpers and mirrors etc with the AZ4-1 cap. Dunno if they even have other caps to be honest😁 Lovely small even fan for detailed work and lays clear and base coat perfectly. Both with the fluid control at full tilt. Price wise it’s at the lower end of the market like around $120 when I bought mine a couple of years back but really nice gun to use. Wouldn’t mind seeing you do a review on it maybe on a top 10 budget priced mini guns or something?

Hey mate, I'm wondering if you can offer some ideas on mask filtration options. Im only doing small sections as I repair them so not a whole car at once. Im using 2k epoxy primer. Hey Gunny, love your vids. I got a ANi R160, love it for what I do, which is custom paint electric guitars. My question is I'm really looking for a waterborne clear coat. As I don't have a booth setup for 2k and hiring one to paint a guitar body or two, gets pricy. Anyway product you could think of or recommend? Cheers Simon

Hello Gunman, thanks for all the video’s, you are awesome. I have had two of these guns but I found that it lacked a bit of performance to be honest. I’d rather get the LPH-400 and wind it down a bit. What I would like to add; I owned a W300 and a LPH-300, both had the split tip nozzle. But i have seen a presentation where was stated that on all Iwata’s the L in LPH stands for HVLP and W for conventional. As a hobby painter I could not tell the difference to be honest. Yes I know that the air cap decides if you have a conventional or HVLP but this was stated by a Iwata rep. Thanks again! Paul

Hi, I need to decide between w300wb and lph300, both 1.4mm tip for clearcoat. Can you please share anything that might help. There ia very limited info on these guns. I want less orangepeel as well as less overspray. Mostly will paint small cabinets, so fan size is not an issue.

@@Jaimerga no it’s very good for smal repairs, maybe excellent, but if you wind the W400 down you get the same result with the option for big jobs as you turn the fan up!

I have three w300wbs,which are really the same gun as this one. For solvent base coats they're fantastic,(never tried water based),I do a lot of Candy's, metallics etc on motorcycles. For clear I use an iwata w400 wbx, like gunny said I think it's crap for clear, even on small parts like tanks and fairings. One other thing is the w300 is the best feeling mini gun in your hand,better than the sata 4400 and the ani I have these to.

Hi gunny are you sure this gun isn’t lvlp ? Recommended pressure is 1.5 bar same with the lph-80 worth saying that these guns are great for smart repairs smaller jobs the Sri and the mini jet are great allrounders but these shine with the likes of wheels and keeping things really tight especially with there low overspray 👍🏻

I think you'll find the LPH-300 is the lvlp, I have a feeling this is the conventional after checking the manual. The LPH300 recommends 1.3 bar which is even lower than this.

Hi. Thanks for the review. I really thinking to buy a medium size gun for painting bumpers, wings or medium size panels where the lph80 feels like too small. I got sata 5000rp, supernova and lph80, but sometimes feels like big guns are too big, small gun is too small. I looking this 300 gun on ebay, and i find some around 170£ from japan. Do you still saying sata minijet is the better option? Im a sata fan but as you said earlier, satas leaving a heavy orange peel ,which is true, however i never tried the sr aircap. So, what do you think about? Thanx.

Hey gunny, I'm into diy car resto and i've got a few questions if thats ok Firstly i was looking at picking up the red gunman gti pro lite until i lost my job due to the pandemic. Do you think that design will return? Do you think it's worth buying a mini gun as well? For the money i'm really not sure. As a diy'er should i be looking at different guns for base and clear? Or with the small amount of painting i'm actually doing, the difference of an extra clean not worth a new gun? Thanks Gunman.

Hey mate, sorry to hear you lost your job. But yeah we plan on getting another Gunman edition GTi made up, I'm hoping this year. And I would say one full-size gun is all you'd need, as you say for the little amount you spray it's no big deal to clean it between stages. Mini guns are great and all but unless you plan to spray lots of small parts I think you'll find the one full-size gun to be more than capable.
