IWM Duxford Air Show to mark 80 year anniversary of Battle of Britain with to Red Arrows show

This takes me back over 65 years when my father was stationed at Duxford and we were regular visitors to the annual BoB show. Have not been since 1959 so need to get my act together as only just down the road from my current home. Thanks for posting. Great to see.

Polish pilots in the Battle of Britain in just 42 days 303 Squadron shot down 126 German planes, becoming the most successful Fighter Command unit in the Battle of Britain. Sadly not many British ppl known that.

My late father instructed at the start of ww2 and always praised the Polish pilots. They had lost everything at home and their enthusiasm and drive to push themselves to the limit, was their way to hit Hitler and his regime hard in the quickest possible time. This boosted the moral of all the potential new pilots and aircrew being called up. Excellent to see youngsters really getting to grips with our history without bias and half truths. Polish Pilots, Polish Airborne and Polish Navy (RN). In Maidenhead we are fortunate to have a Polish population that are descended from these brave people. South Africans, Canadian, USA and many other Commonwealth Countries saw volunteer pilots take part. We should remember them all. God Save the King

I have to utmost respect for the men in the air and people on the ground for what they achieved in saving the UK from a German invasion and ultimately began the resistance to Nazi world domination. But the Battle of Britain was fought in 1940 not 1943 so it is 83 years ago. Another example of IWM going woke?

The nonsense people have been talking nonstop for years is pure comedy. Cummings driving his car, Starmer drinking beer, Boris eating cake, etc etc for years. Politicians should be working together to make countries run more efficiently, not spending all their time throwing mud at each other and waiting to see If something sticks so they can double down. Sadly, It is human nature and no doubt was happening in just the same fashion when the Romans were running things. 71% of the planet is on less than $10 a day, and 1 Billion are on $1 a day, complaining about the price of a tomato when most have iPhones is just first-world whinging. I will always respect the people who made sure this part of the world stayed free. Hopefully, the human race will eventually grow up, or Ai may have to help them along.

Well said I served in many campaigns have the scars and medals to show I wouldn’t do it again this country isn’t worth fighting for any longer The back door is open so why go through the front door and give your life while the country is being invaded

Went to this show a few years ago.. brilliant day. As a son of a ex hawker employee who went through the war as a engineer/tool maker doing his small part in the construction of the hurricane..obviously I have a favourite aircraft !!

The Battle of Britain was 83 years ago. It was in summer and fall of 1940. By 1943, the US was in the war and UK, the US and Canada were fighting in Italy and the allied bomber campaign against Germany was well underway. Germany was losing on the Russian front. The tide of WW II had turned 80 years ago.

By 1941 Britain was dropping ten times as much ordnance on Germany as they were on us. By 1944 it was 35 times.

It was a fantastic show and perfectly organised. On Saturday, the weather was perfect for flying but also on Sunday they made the best of the weather. The atmosphere and the wonderfully dedicated re-enactors really made it an unforgettable event. I am glad that I could be there, even if the journey from Germany was a bit longer.

Because the airfield itself has changed little since WWII it is a living museum. It's what makes it such an attractive venue for airshows. It will be even better if they take on Flying Legends again.
