I once loaned my car over my holidays to my friend as 2nd car for his family. When I returned in principle all was good - but I found tiny scratches on the hood. His daughter had written her name "Maria" with chalk on the hood. Chalk was gone, but the crystals had left their mark Wasn't a real problem, the kid was too small to understand what it did, the parents cannot control them all the time. Would have been nicer without, but nobody notices it when he does not know. Like on the used car I bought it had scratches on the plastic cover of the headlight that abruptly ended at the fender., what wondered me. A few weeks later, in the sun, I then finally saw it, the fender had been oversprayed, the scratches HAD extended on the fender and been filled and painted. Now I do not know what would have annoyed me more, the scratched or this minimally different hue of the fender when you see the car from the side. In the meantime my philosophy is: when something goes wrong that just happened because things happen, take it, when someone made an unintended ERROR that affected you, be lenient, (when it is avoidable (and should be avoided), go over and talk it through with them, what happened and how to avoid it (where it is an art in itself to avoid a conflict as when you walk over, they expect an outburst of agression) - but I am totally allergic against people who want to take advantage of others, think they can get away with it. Sometimes too much.

People always forget that it`s not just about the HP of an engine, its about the HP vs Weight of the car that makes it "feel" fast or slow. You can have a car with a small 1.4L without a turbo but weighs less than 1 ton be faster than a 3.0L V6 but weighs over 2 tons.

This car, the Peugeot 206 was an absolute banger in Europe, just like its predecessor the Peugeot 205. The success of the 205 saved Peugeot from bankrupcy with 7 million units sold, and 12 milion 206s were sold from 1998 to 2013. They are super common, very fun to ride. The Peugeot 205 GTi was a hot little hatchback that gave the Gold GTI a serious run for its money and is iconic also because of the group B version, and the 206 is also iconic due to the WRC. The convertible version of the 206 is fantastic and is going up in price on the second hand market, just like the 205 GTI which got straight up expensive (above 20000$). And yes, on a diesel engine like this you can just ride the clutch. Peugeot is known for its diesel engines, they have been putting them inside their cars since the 50s.

Hello, from Portugal, Europe!!! I've got a 206 like that, year 2002, 156k kms, it's a 2.0L HDi, turbo-charged, Bosch direct-injection diesel, good looks and I love it! Very fuel efficient, plenty of torque. Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Fiat, Skoda, Seat, are very common all over Europe, Africa, South America, even Asia. Diesel engines are very popular specially in the 80s, 90s and 00s, as petrol version being cheaper. Nowadays passenger diesel engines are becoming less common over here due to emission rules and small turbo-charged gasoline as well as hybrid and EV cars are more common in the last decade. That right-hand wheel 206 is in the UK and those two hood vents are for AC/ventilation only (and for a sporty look too! 😂) The Peugeot 206 had many engine versions, petrol from 1.1,1.4,1.6,2.0 L petrol, in several body versions as GTI, RC,etc.and 1.4,1.6,1.9 and 2.0 L diesel. The 206 WRC was one of the best rally car ever made and a world champion back in the late 90s and 00s! Best regards to you all in the US! ❤

Egineer here: Cars will usually stop faster with ABS. Friction and traction are higher/better when the rubber doesn't slip on the road. Tires slipping over the tarmack will make you stop slower in addition to you not being able to contol the car. ABS literally has only upsides.
@edonveil9887
@edonveil9887 2 ай бұрын
The ABS benefits from high modulation frequency. Do you recall the mechanical ABS Ford used? I had a slow ABS in one of the cars and in emergency the emergency brake needed to be applied. Also motorbikes got ABS way later than cars as the system just wasn't good enough back then. Engineering summary: it depends.

Exception when driving on snow: A finnish driver explained, that there can be difficulties when driving on snow, where the stopping is actually due to the snow accumulating in front if the wheels - which does not happen with ABS. The Peugeot 206 was the biggest selling model the company ever made. They were manufactured under licence all over the world. They're a great little car to drive as the wheels are literally on each corner, so they drive like they're on rails. Engine sizes are 1.1, 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 ltr. There are also diesel versions Body style is 3 or 5 door hatchback, the SW ( sport weekend) which is a 5 door station wagon/ estate and the CC which is a two door convertible with electric stow-able hardtop. They also produced a van which was basically the 3 dr hatch with blanked off rear side windows and no rear seats. There was probably a 4 dr sedan in other foreign markets , but if there was..it was never marketed in Europe. maybe you buy one and import one from South America. Here's a list where they were built. France: Mulhouse (Mulhouse Plant); Poissy (Poissy Plant) United Kingdom: Ryton (Ryton Plant) Brazil: Porto Real (PSA Group Portaria Norte) Argentina: Buenos Aires (Sevel Argentina) Chile: Los Andes Uruguay: Barra de Carrasco (Oferol) Iran: Tehran (Iran Khodro) China: Wuhan (DPCA) Malaysia: Gurun (NAM) Indonesia: North Jakarta (Gaya Motor). The vents in the hood are air intakes for the air conditioning/ heater. On models WITH A/C The pollen filter is situated on the right hand side firewall.

Diesel engines have evolved very sharply, especially in the last 20 years of the 20th century, and with the use of high-pressure direct fuel injection, often combined with the use of turbochargers with low inertia, diesel engines have become very powerful, especially at low revs, compared to petrol engines. However, this comparison isn't very fair, as turbo engines are usually compared with aspirated petrol engines.

These Peugeot models have rear torsion bar suspension, which makes them lovely to throw around on small country roads. Also, with most diesel manuals, you can let the clutch up without any throttle. However, you can still stall them if you go too quickly.

As a fellow european, I can confirm that small, cheap, light and somewhat underpowered cars are some of the most fun you can have on our roads, if you enjoy actually driving (and not just going fast). Also, while maye not as common as they once were, small cars like these are still some of the most common vehicles on the road (with the clio being another super common model), atleast in western europe, because of how affordable to buy and own they are, with the slightly bigger compact segment (think golf and rivals, as I believe the 206 is considered a subcompact) are also super common, and also a joy to drive. Oh, and here in europe, a 2L engine and above is considered large displacement in many countries, and are taxed more. The most common engine sizes for small cars tend to hover around the 1.4l range, with the much larger displacement engines (1.8L+) most commonly being installed in larger family cars, with diesel engines being the exception (pretty much every car on the road from the 80s onwards got the option of a diesel ranging from 1.8 to about 2.1l)

I had a black petrol Peugeot 206, 1100cc engine manual gearbox. I drove it with heavy camping gear all the way to Brittany in France. It was lively with good acceleration. On the way back from work there was a big drain cover pothole that couldn't be avoided, at 40 mph there's be a big bang and you'd almost hit the roof. If you had to drop the back seats to carry a load you'd have to more the front seat forwards, not comfortable if you're over 6'. Joyriding in England is stealing a car then driving it fast and dangerously usually while being chased by the police, escaping from the police is part of the "fun" even if you kill the car. The first 206 you showed was left hand drive in Europe (possibly France where they are made), the second one was right hand drive with British 05 (year) plates, driving a British car in France you will at some point forget and drive off in the morning on the wrong side of the road, my brother did it in a bus once. It would make sense to buy your personal import Peugeot 206 in France, get it left hand drive and they are even cheaper there as RHD is more expensive from new.

the fun interior was actually Quiksilver's logo printed all over, they used to be pretty common, it was one of my best friends first car that was passed down to him by his father when he changed for a bigger car, just a regular funny and well made car

Those vents are for the air that goes in the cabin, to the pollen filter....and quicksilver is very big on Europe, that was like a cool version of the 206

I'm from Buenos Aires. They were also built here from 1999 until 2014, overlapping the 207 (206+ in Spain) and going on the 2nd gen 208 up to this day.

Dutch guy here. My car history so far: - 1994 Renault Twingo, smallest car but no luxury so more legroom, the roomiest one I've driven. I measure 207cm/6 feet 9 inches. - 2001 Peugeot 106, a little larger than the twingo a little smaller than the 206, lots of electrical problems, the worst car I've had, but still good leg-room. - 2008 Mitsubishi Colt, still a small car, but I needed something else after the Peugeot disaster. This is my current car, it's much more luxurious than the previous 2, so leg-room is kinda tight, I have the edge of a cupholder dented into my leg like always, I like to drive a bigger car, but bigger often means more luxury and less leg-room, so that's a problem. I don't buy cars because they look good, I buy em if they fit me. Even for Dutch standards I'm pretty big, there is a forum called KLM (klub lange mensen- tall people club) they recommend buying a Skoda Fabia next, for a little room.

You can indeed get a small diesel car rolling with just the clutch, this is actually what I was tought when I was getting my driver's license. Most driving schools in the Netherlands are diesels for this exact reason if I'm not mistaken

That's one thing I love about my 2007 MINI Cooper R56. Just because the horsepower is low, doesn't mean that it is boring to drive. I love throwing it through corners.

14:06 My driving school had an E39 BMW 520d manual. I learned to let off the clutch without touching the throttle pedal to get going from standstill, so yeah, you’re right! It even worked on fairly steep inclines. Of course that engine was much higher in torque than this 206, so not sure if it’d work in this one.
