You cannot ambush someone with the issues and emotional volatility of DMX in relation to his son without his foreknowledge and buy-in on such a deeply personal level and think it will turn out well?? All for entertainment or whatever the purpose... Why have the young man show up with a laundry list of complaints about his dad and inhibiting his (X's) ability to engage with his son. No ground rules, no mutual consent...no preservation of dignity... That's why this is a profession not a hobby. Respect for Iyanla's technique... ordinarily, but she could not possibly have thought this approach to have been a good idea (springing disgruntled child on a man who she describes as having cursed her for days, which I do not believe for a second, who may or mny not have been under the influence. Ambitious undertaking and pretty much arrogant, if not abusive of, all parties, including herself, to be packaged and presented to a worldwide audience -- abusing us all even further. @@myyjoi19 ask psych nurses or any nurse or cna who deals with people with Alzheimer's or behavior health issues. You get called out your name, racial slurs, and even hit at times. In the end, as tired as you may be, you took on a job and in taking on the job, you know what comes with it. That would be like a surgeon saying they're tired of blood.

I want her to do DMX all over again. I want these two to make amends. I don't think DMX is a bad guy, vice versa. Iyanla really wanted to help DMX but he had so so so much pain. I just want them to sit and resolve it.

Yes, but Iyania approach with DMX was a little harsh. She should have took the approach she took with Shelby. I think she matured as a life coach since then is able to deal with the black men better. I think now, Iyania would be able to help him and he will receive it. They both matured.
@kmaur217 жыл бұрын
It focused too much on his drug use and not really what caused his PAIN. VH1 Couples Therapy you got to see some of his issues and where the pain stem FROM. DMX is in pain deeply, and the only channel he has to release it is through music and unfortunately drugs. But he is definitely not a bad person.

First, RIP DMX. Next, he was completely high and it was obvious that he had no respect for her (or maybe women?). It was an uncomfortable episode and I'm glad I got to hear the back story.

Its so trance this came across my news feed the day after DMX's passing. Addiction is real, and its said in the rooms of recovery. If you choose to got back out and n use there's only 2 places you can wind up if ur unlucky. Prison or death. It also shows that if the network was truly into helping these folks who are clearly hurting, they would really help. I pray for DMX smooth transition into the other world may his soul find peace

You can't "fix" an addict, she said it right, she can try to 'coach' them into treatment that's all - DMX never should've been allowed on that show period - he was still on crack, u could tell by the erratic tweaky behavior; I wouldn't hv taken that tweaky disrespectful sh** off of him either. And he has recently been back in rehab again, so I believe her.

Ms. MeMe DMX has been on crack for 30 years. That is long term effects right there. Even when he is not under the influence, thats how he is now.

You are so spot on Iyanla! Once DMX lost his ability to make money and news, he lost his footing as a competent human being upon this earth. He was way too high all the time, at that time, to be competent at anything -- whether, celebrated artist, loving husband, dedicated father, or genuine human being. He did not know how to be any of these things before he summoned you to his family, who were crying out for your help and healing. Know that you helped them tremendously, Iyanla. And also know, as you very well do, that God helps those who help themselves. Thank you for God's work upon this earth Iyanla. Thank you DMX for your great struggle with life, drugs, booze, family, hope, the necessity of love in your life, and the love you gave to us all through your artistry. God will bless you forever! Pain is why Black Lives Matter Always! And the overcoming of that pain! God rest you in eternal peace DMX. Hallelujah and Amen.

What you said doesn't make sense. He didn't lose "his footing as a competent human being", once he "lost" his ability to make money and news. He was battling addiction since he was a teen, way before fame. He has songs and a book about it. He didn't even like the fame much. He was dealing with what a lot of people deal with, but don't have cameras on them. Dealing with multiple traumas is no easy feat, adding addiction to it makes it even harder. His addiction was just easy to poke at and scrutinize. I'm pretty sure it was his family that reached out to her, not him specifically, but he agreed to do it out of love. The issue isn't always not wanting help, but not knowing how to RECEIVE it.

@@Januaryjenkins Look I agree with what you say. But I am talking specifically about his messy relationships with his family and rude confrontation with Iyanla Vanzant. By the time of that interview he had lost his footing completely in his troubled life. That in no way detracts from his brilliant artistry, unique talents, and lovable-ness as a human being. It just shows that he was as human as the rest of us. We all lose our footing along the way. That only means that God is grooming us for higher ground. DMX is on much higher ground than you and I right now. So let us stop criticizing and celebrate the great beauty of his tragic life. And thank you for loving him so much. He needed more of that in his life.

I feel I've indirectly been appointed the Iyanla of the people in my life. Now its time to preserve myself. I wonder who "fixes" the real Iyanla. Mostly wondering what story was behind why she needed to specify to the host, that she doesn't go to people, people come looking for Her. Really like her and so glad she got to explain her side of that uncomfortable DMX interview.
