Bessarabia gets it's name from the 1st Romanian (Wallachian) Voievod who conquered that placed after he united the Wallachia.

I grew up around izmail/bolhrad, every summer as a child I would be left with my granny for summer vacation instead of staying in my home town Odessa, and what's amazing about those provincial towns, is that you have fruit trees everywhere, and as a kids, we would just explore by walking to different small towns and eat whatever fruits, from trees, bushes, you name it and it's all organic and non gmo, tastes so flavorful, can't compare it to US supermarkets fruits.

Budzak is a original romanian region stolen by the Soviet Union and after them dissolving it went to Ukraine. "Bessarabian" as you say in the title is, named after the noble family that founded Romania. Dynasty of Basarab.

Wow, your videos are so interesting, it's cool to know better Eastern European cultures and you explain all that carefully and with passion. An interesting thing about the Romanian speaking population in Ukraine is that it is split in two groups: one in the North, in the Chernivtsi area, where most of them identify as Romanians and the other group is in Southern Bassarabia - including Izmail - where most of them identify as Moldovans.

I commemorate with respect the heroic Turkish and Tatar soldiers who heroicly defended and died during the siege of Izmail and the entirely civilian population killed at the end of the siege like Ochakov Siege. From Turkey love, respect and peace to the Gagauz, Romanian and Ukrainian peoples.
