www.hardknock.tv Exclusive in-depth interview with J Cole! Part 1 starts off with Cole talking about picking a song for Jay-Z to jump on but not wanting to be out shined on his own track. Nick Huff Barili asked Cole if he has ever given an artist a song with verses already on it and then had to go back and re-write his verse, which Cole responded ONCE! ...for Kendrick Lamar. Jermaine tells the story of how he gave Kendrick the song Temptations, which Kendrick murdered so bad that it made Cole want to change his verse. He also states that he is not gonna settle for a mixtape for tracks with Kendrick and that even if they have to wait a year he wants it to be for a joint album.
As the conversation continues J Cole talks about the new single Work Out and wanting to have something for label to push to radio. He reminds fans that he is dealing with two labels Roc Nation and Columbia, which takes a while to get everyone on same page. Feeling of pressure is something that never goes away from before when he wasn't signed to now. Cole elaborates on his twitter headline: My Story aint the only one I'm trying to tell. Cole says what he brings to Hip Hop is the story element like Tupac and Nas, that he feels is not prevalent in Hip Hop right now. Part one of this interview ends with Nick asking Cole about a post he made on his blog about Ted Talks and reforming education. The talk is by Salman Khan and the link is www.dreamvillain.net/?p=50
We are just getting started, our conversation with J Cole lasted more than half hour.

one line from that album that made me believe this guy is the shit is: “i know how part of you feel” he could’ve easily causally just said “i know how you feel”….that distinction is serious introspection 🫡🫡

+Stephen Anwar Hey Stephen, hollerin from South Africa. I had this J. Cole/Kendrick debate with my buddies recently. If the combined album dropped early in their careers it would make sense mainly because they sounded similar. As time has gone they've evolved so much. K.dot managed to channel various personalities whereas Coles flow is still laid back. To force a collab to happen it'd would be a disaster because those two need to come together creatively and be cohesive. Those are two creative minds that need time to produce something that will not cause a dent in their career.

I've been listening to Rigamortis by Kendrick Lamar and it's one of those song no one can memorize no matter how hard they try. It's just that lyrical. To be honest, I haven't had that feeling since hearing Infinite by Eminem. Truly an old school classic. Especially since it was recorded in 1996. As far as I'm concerned, they're both very talented and will make it far in this industry. Much love to J. Cole & Kendrick. No need to compare.

Kendrick's lyrics are deep no denying that. BUT it helps when you an bring more with wordplay and have different type of flows ala Jay Z. Not denying the boy's talent. I personally think he the 2nd best of the year with the second best rap album of the year, but he has room to improve and he would even agree.
