J Cole is J Hope's muse. Jhope used to dance to J Cole's tunes when he started street dancing. Jhope stage name is inspired from j cole. He put J in front of hope because of J cole. Also bts sampled jcole song born sinner and altered the lyrics and renamed it to born singer back in 2013. Born singer was added last year into proof album. J hope gave all the spotlight to j cole and it was intentional. In the whole song j cole is on the roof so it symbolizes that jcole is above hima nd jhope is in the basement dancing to his rap. And then at the end they meet on the roof symbolizing that j hope has come so far that he is standing equal to his idol. You should check out J cole music because in my opinion J cole is the best rapper of present era.

Correct: J hope name was not inspired from j cole. He himself several times talked about his stage name…. His family name is Jung and initialized first letter and then he was thinking about pandora box Like a jack in the box.. Last remaining thing was hope! That’s how he got his stage name! Actually RM and Mr. Bang(ceo of big hit) were talking about this nickname

im sure others will explain it better, but j cole was one of the people hobi was inspired by for his own style and stuff, even "hope world" is inspired by "cole world", i think that is why he gave him such a long verse, because he respected him enough to let him have that big of a part in his song
@genevievehiguera6162 Жыл бұрын
J Hope's "verse" was his dance, the street. J-Hope is a dancer first. It was the street, the dance that Hobi honed is ability to feel rhythm and taking that rhythm that he learned on the Streets is what made him able to become a Master Rapper. He says it TWICE, "On the Street. STILL". Hobi didn't need any more verses. "One "verse, but that verse and the concept said it loud and clear, the dance, the rhythm, the beat, the STREET are his roots. And his verse "with faith and love"(given to him by ARMY and his members) is something he hopes to repay by showing us to walk "hopefully". "One verse", but his dance, the setting, his streetwear was a 🎤DROP. 👏👏👏👏👏💜💜💜💜💜Thank you J-Hope and J Cole. Be Safe our Hope, be Healthy and Be Blessed Army is waiting for your safe return.

Rock n roll, lol. I would have loved another verse from hobi too but Jcole is such a huge influence to Hobi that I'm not surprised that Hoseok let him have the song. There's a lot, a lot of respect and honoring of jcole in this.

I love it. J-Hope puts J.Cole up high on the roof (at the top), and him on the streets and underground in the subway paying homage to his street and underground roots (often freestyling and battling to J Cole's rap), and in the end, rises up to meet J.Cole (at the top) on the roof. Genius! J Cole is also giving a nod to the next up-and-coming rap generation. Interesting that he's done that with a South Korean rapper instead of a Western one.

Hobi as you know low key has everything meticulously planned. I’m sure everything had a reason. I love this especially that this was important and meaningful to Hobi since he’s long admired JCole. (also Born Singer was originally JCole’s Born Sinner) Hobi and JCole finally met in person at Lalapalooza when they both headlined diff. days. Hobi was giddy and told JCole he was his muse. Happy for Hobi and was proud to gift this to ARMY 💜

You DID stan him from the beginning! I'm getting emotional, thinking back on your very first BTS reaction and how you spoke of Hobi's beauty! Little did you know then that he's even more beautiful on the inside! What a journey it's been, what a journey we still have ahead of us 💜

Oh man.... I love the old vibe hip hop beats and scratches. The mvideo is so good and the alley was exactly where J Cole filmed his Simba Mvideo many yeas ago. He is Jhope's idol since teenage and BTS used his song Born Sinner to transform it in Born Singer. Jhope paid his respects to his idol giving him the majority of lines in the song. JCole is a legendary US rapper. The song is for saying goodbye to Army represented, just like Jin did in Astronaut, by a litle child. 💜
@TangerineSunshine Жыл бұрын
Hobi mentioned this was a song going back to his roots. Since JCole is one of Hobi's inspiration and, as he said, his muse, he let JCole take the lead lyrically while he was dancing to it. Interesting enough the MV had a ton of Easter eggs alluding to JCole's roots in the industry as well (same ally as an early MV, the train station he walked out of was the station that inspired Jay Z's moniker -and Cole signed to Jay Z's label). We also see Hobi dance underground and make his way up to the rooftop, to finally meet up and be acknowledged by his idol. JCole is mentioned a lot in Hobi's lyrics throughout the years, hip hop phile "before Hope World, there was Cole World", Born Singer is a cover of Cole's song "born sinner", list goes on. This was a big moment for our Hobi 💜

I would have replaced the 'everything I do' refrain that is right before Cole's verse with a second j-hope verse that transitions smoothly into Cole's. We've seen that work so many times with him and SUGA, for example.
@chrisheavenlyonesbts3257 Жыл бұрын
I completely understand your viewpoint about having another or a longer J-Hope verse, but ultimately I think J-Hope wanted to pay homage and give J. Cole more time plus I think he really wanted to just dance over J. Cole's verse. I'm really hoping that they release a performance video of this song showing all of J-Hope's freestyling.

Well, as for my first exposure to J.Cole, I didn't appreciate being called "stupid as hell" for being an atheist... 😂🤣😂 Me+science=🤝💜 I was pretty critical of his verse because I always look for the lyrical excellence that the members deserve from a feature. (Wale, yes; Nikki Minaj, no) No one can fault his skill, but as an English Lit major, I have a couple notes. LOL Weird, because he's known for genius lyricism. I have nothing to say about black people using the reclaimed n word - but I wish he had read the room and only used it as a noun instead of an add-on to a line. You don't "walk down an alter", you walk down an aisle to the alter. That could be my most nitpicky thing. He shouted out j-hope's name, but followed it with his signature Cole World. I wondered if that was because he wasn't 'setting aside his crown' even for the space of the song. It just gave me a pang because it was Hobi's moment and it would have shown some humility from a great artist. Imagine if he added Hope World along with Cole World! "We need some Hope in a Cole World" is what I would go with. 😆
@TheChampOfMedium Жыл бұрын
I didnt *love* the anti-atheist jab either tbh lmao but he delivered some of those lines like a CHAMP so I'm just gonna put that off to the side for now.

@ffori No, that was awesome! Not at all unwelcome, but so many ideas I can't parse it all out right now. I'm taking a screenshot so I can ponder your comment later! 🙂 You are correct that science has been politicized in the US. It's just another tool being used to control people. I was definitely simplifying the atheist/science relationship. His list of marvels which prove a higher power all say science to me, not faith or miracle, etc. My higher power is a mess of effective collisions, chaos, and logic. The needle of my compass just points that direction most of the time, so it seemed fitting. hehe
