When the general public takes responsibility of their own actions and respects other experience of it, amazing things can happen. The luxury of clean streets and being safe outside at night are such simple things but really have a profound effect on the way one feels about living in a place. Japan still has lots of issues and is far from perfect but it is an incredible place for these reasons. I wonder how long it will remain this way.
@bnanaaasbrown95294 жыл бұрын
MorphoMouse It does come with costs too. Japanese society has a suicide problem because of immense pressures on its citizens. Also growing numbers had been becoming isolated and disconnected from human interaction from long before the pandemic.

Thailand is where people smile at you all the time but i digress. Yeah, Gifu, or in fact, Central Japan (Chubu) is pretty aesthetic, not so much in Kanto.

Wonderful video! I've visited Gujo-Hachiman in 2017, and I'm tempted to say this is the #1 hidden gem in Japan. This video is not a case of picking the nice shots while avoiding the ugly stuff, Gujo-Hachiman truly is this gorgeous. The location along the rivers, the traditional houses, the narrow streets and those canals. It's like an open air museum where people actually do live. And the best thing: it's hardly discovered by tourists. Yes, quite a few tour groups visit the place, but they all just seem to go to the museum, visit a souvenir shop, and the're gone. I only stayed one night in Gujo, but the two days strolling around in town were some of the most rewarding in all of my travels in Japan. As for traditional small towns, nearby Mino-shi (half way along the Nagaragawa Railway) is also well worth a visit. Just be smarter than me and don't go on a day when everything is closed....
