The Drakens playstyle is one which could be incredibly fun in War Thunder if it wasn't sandwiched by vehicles that are covered in insane armaments. Hopefully one day it will find it's place.

Sweden has been screwed over in the 3rd gen fm department for a long time now between the Drakens and Viggens being nerfed over and over again during the past 2 years. I don't think a F-4E should have better flight performance over a Viggen

One way I've found to be a ok solution to the problem of jets like the J35 that don't have flares is to take rockets and use them as flares.

The J35Ö the Austrian version did recieve flares and some other mods but is mostly a J35D it would fit perfectly.

yep it did and later aim-9p4‘s also. would be a great addition. surprised they didn’t add it as the premium and the j35xs in the tech tree as it should be.

Not the D but the J35A is absolute pain, no flares and missiles that pull less G's than I do getting out of bed, at 9.7, what a waste of $.

Play it in sim battles! It’s fucking amazing in sim. The only thing that competes with you is the Ariete.

If the Mirage IIIC can be at 10.0 then this thing should be able to move down as well. It would be nice to get more tech tree variants as well. Ever since the Draken was introduced I've been waiting for the J35J or J35F. Edit: Considering Gaijin doesn't care about accuracy when it comes to Swedish variants of planes perhaps it's better this way.

I just sacrifice a missile to carry six m55 rockets to use as flares. dont use the rocket pods because they give the same number of shots but you cant use at high speed. works well but only 6 shots. Gaijin should add j35 j to tech tree so you can have flares and all aspect missiles (also irst).

A32A as you said was super relaxing to play. If you really wanna play attacker and wait enough you get that strike time when everyone is refueling and make a ton of points, good ordinance + tons of ammo, even able to play base bombing runs, its amazing. War Thunder needs to add more of the Draken variants, like they do with every american plane

I think the same as I would be really fun to play a draken with all aspects missiles and flares as I do hope it had at the end of its as it was retired in 1999 Edit It could carry (RB27)Aim 26 basically a nuke missile which should make this Swedens nuke plane in my opinion just because I hate the jaguar (RB28) Aim 4 a infrared and Semi active radar seeker

The F-4F early is even worse. Worse flight performance and same weapons (4 AIM-9J / no countermeasures). BUT it has an even higher BR!

I personally played the J35D and the XS model in sim and they perform surprisingly well. I only ran the radar to confirm enemy or friendly planes.

Play it in sim, it’s fantastic when you’re not lit up for the entire enemy team. Any jet that struggles from not having countermeasures in air rb becomes extremely competitive in sim battles. Plus, enduring confrontation is a far superior game mode. Shame they don’t let you guys play it

J35A came back on sale late last year. So much better experience. About 1 in 10 battles up tier seeing F5s. Not many AIM9Ls ether.

Yes, I spaded it few days ago. Best strategy is to sideclimb to 5km alt and then boom&zoom from the rear and from the top. It also dogfights very well. All other things are pure torture.

Got 4 to 1 K/D in this plane in Air Sim, but I only play this as part of a squad tho. If I play solo, I never choose this vehicle. I enjoy that vehivles are not balanced to do the same in every situation. And learning these things is what is so enjoyable in WT.

My main strategy with this thing is afterburn my fuel to 18min then drop down to 80% while passively climbing to 4k. After that I let everybody else initiate the fight before jumping in to pick off any isolated targets and going back to full speed. Best method i've found so far since it's an easy target people will go after since they know you have no flares.

They have no excuse to not give flares to some jets that never had flares at this point. The Draken is such a fun and enjoyable plane to fly, but not to fight with.

There are a couple planes that are currently dominating in Air RB and it makes it very fustrating to play (J7D and F-14A IRIAF) and then there are some which have no way of playing currently (all 3 no flare 10.7 planes, f105D, A-7series, later F104s not the F104A/C/J, all the italian ones, Su-25SM3, Buccaneer S.2B, R2Y2s, Me163B-0/Ki-200, j35D, F4C) There is also planes that dominate in ground RB and need a higher GRB BR ie SAAB-105G, Scimitar, event Fj-4B, Yak9k, a higher top bracket for planes in GRB ie 13.0/13.3, anything with Big 1 masive bombs ie Pe-8, Lancaster ect. And dont even get me started on Tanks/Heils/Costal and Bluewater.

They still have several Drakens they can add. They haven't even given us the best version, the J model. Another Danish version would be useful, the J35XD is a strike plane.

It is very unfortunate how dirty they did this plane over the last year or two, this is my favorite plane in the game as it is my favorite military vehicle since childhood. The Draken is still pretty much my most played plane and I love it to death and could even do decently well with it back when I first unlocked it but nowadays it's almost unplayable. It's very unfortunate for an aircraft that was known to be so ahead of its time to be so bad in the game...

The Draken was amazing when it was still top tier. I think this was when the max br was around 10.7 or 11. Honestly i dont touch top tier jets much anymore because its such a pain if you arent spaded

All 13.7 get access to FOX 3 stock so not that much pain. Spaded both su27's without any problem.

@ that’s actually crazy. 9.7 would be wild there’s 8.7s that should never see this thing. It just comes down to compression at the end of the day. The BR cap should really be like 15.0 right now but gaijin would never do that. They want to instill player suffering and have unfairness out weight balance so players will spend more money on the game

Save some sanity points and go for the mig21 first... To get there the j29f its a monster in good hands and the j32 its good when fully upgrade crew to expert as for the a32a its very nice at mix battles but abysmal slow with extra armament on air battles

A prefer the D over the premium A and XS. The J-35A AIM-9Bs at 9.7. And the XS has no RWR at 10.7.

Lightening F6 at 9.3 is pure frustration, maybe worse than the J35D: it’s almost always up tiered in to 10.0 to 10.3 matches with 2 poor missiles, no counter measures and horrific energy bleed in any type of manoeuvre. In a down tier it’s untouchable (if played right), but you almost never get them.

The whole J35s family is just pathetic, they just can't do anything even the dogfight, even their turn rate is great but it also bleed out it speed like crazy, after 2 turn you will lose all your speed and become a sitting duck at the skies
