Repentance is more than just saying I’m sorry to God. & Repentance can take a long time. I feel like as Christians we weren’t ever taught how to properly repent. Understand the difference between saying sorry about yourself and shaming yourself and actually feel sorry for disappointing God. I wish I had better words but I hope ya get the point 🤍

I love your Bible Studies and can’t wait for more. I wanted to also add something I learned here recently from an AMAZING preacher on the channel call “The Door”. Highly recommend checking out his videos. Anyways, REPENT not only means asking forgiveness. It’s the call for total ultimate unconditional surrendering to GOD. In repenting to GOD, one makes a complete change of direction (180 degree turn) TOWARD GOD. And away from sinful ways.

My thoughts: A pastor who spoke to my ministry said this: "The devil CANNOT force you into doing anything. He can only give you offers! The devil ONLY wins when when we TAKE THE OFFER. Just look at Matthew 4. The devil can only offer Jesus stuff. In this case, the devil didn't win AMEN! We even see this in Genesis. The devil didn't force the fruit down Adam and Eve's throat! He only offered the fruit! When Jesus heals the sick, notice how he is serving people. He serves their physical needs (disease, hunger, etc.) AND their spiritual needs (they didn't know God yet). You can't get to someone's spiritual needs and evangelize without touching their physical needs.

I really like having devotions with you. I feel that I can understand what each chapter is about. This one really hit me deep. I had a friend that we had a fallout almost 10 years ago. I have tried communicating with her and asking forgiveness on my part. She will not have anything to do with me. So I know all I can do is pray, but how do we get through those who don't want to forgive?

For Matthew 5:34-37, I think Jesus is telling us not to swear at all. You know how people say "I swear on my momma" or "I swear to G*d." Yes, it could tie into "don't make promises you can't keep," but ultimately I think he is saying that he doesn't want us to swear at all. A simple yes or no will suffice. We don't have the power to do anything without God. He is the ultimate promise maker and promise keeper, so there is no need for us to swear or rely on someone who may not even be able to keep the promise they just made. (This is just my interpretation of the scripture)
