And I saw an excellent version of this song performed by the Jack Bruce trio at the Congress Hall in Warsaw in 1992. They started with this song. The young Blues Saraceno played the guitar - superbly. On percussion was Simon Phillips. A delectable concert.

So familiar am I with the live Cream version, once Robin Trower started his solo I kept running it through the filter of Clapton's playing to where I just couldn't connect with it, even through Trower is a top 10 favorite guitarist of mine. But, after about a minute, as I let go of the Clapton comparisons, Robin took flight and made it his own. Great job, and RIP, Jack Bruce. "Apostrophe" is still my favorite all-time bass-playing tour de force.

Ed , That's simply not the case , he's done this live so many times & with some of the best ever , Rory Gallagher & Gary Moore are two . Everyone wanted to play music with Jack & he did his best to allow that. He was as awesome as they were. Remember they all came up in the same era.

@@paullevine1813 - Cheers Paul. I'll need to watch that video again. Time has a habit of changing opinions. If my memory serves me well, on facial expression alone, you sensed the respect that came from Jack towards Robin, and that respect was not always evident in his other musical excursions.

Why can't anyone filming musicians simply let us watch them play? During Trower's solo, we get better shots of the mole on his neck than we do of him playing his guitar. Do cameramen go to concerts and watch every single thing but the musicians actually playing? Because that's what they point their cameras at.
@sfeddie19 жыл бұрын
LaszloPanaflex I agree. If this was a live broadcast with multiple cameras, then the director and/or the producer is to blame. they call the shots and switch from camera to camera. If the concert was recorded and later edited for release, then whoever bought off on the editing job is to blame. Not only were there bad shots, but there was too much flipping back and forth between musicians. Terrible.
