Thank you Ira for this clip; it demonstrates so clearly how much Jack Carter, and the other attendees loved Uncle Milty.

This was Milton Berle’s final birthday. He died on March 27, 2002. There is an interesting video on KZbin of Jack Carter who tells a story of being purposefully ignored by Milton Berle during some Friars Club event in which many celebrities were introduced who came up and did their routine but not Jack. He was getting madder by the moment the longer Berle ignored him and finally couldn’t stand it any longer. He stormed up to where Berle was standing and really let him have it. Berle for once in his life appeared speechless as Carter grabbed Berle’s “fu**ing cigar” and broke it in two. Jack Carter was really mad. Probably most in the audience thought it was a joke but I’ve watched the video and listened to Jack explain what happened and why. This wasn’t part of some preplanned routine. “Uncle Miltie” had for some reason ignored introducing Jack Carter even after Carter shouted to Berle asking him why he hadn’t introduced him yet. Berle responded but still continued to purposefully ignore him. Watch the video if you’re interested.

I did. Oof. These New York comedians don't mess around, and yet, minutes later, are the best of friends again.
