The editing has indeed been awesome as of late. I especially like it when Daniel slaps the cork into the bottle after it's been opened. Part of me wants Dan to add blushing cheeks to the bottles whenever Daniel does that.

Rex, just to explain and I hope Daniel will back me up here, the reason “10% more alcohol” gives more than 10% worth of flavor is because it’s not 10%, it’s 25%. The whisky is at 40%, then 10% higher proof represents ¼ of the total original amount. So with 10% more alcohol you get 25% more flavor. This is legit my whole theory for why 100 Proof is so much better than 80 proof, it’s a lot more dramatic of an increase than it seems from the numbers.

My whiskey of choice is Jack Daniels no 7. I have seen many of your videos and I don’t think either of you have mentioned going on the Jack Daniels distillery tour. I went on the tour last year and it was so cool that it changed my out look on whiskey. At the end they give you a taste of several versions of the single barrel to try. It was so much fun I went again the next month with some family members. Fun fact Jack Daniels is distilled in a dry county, Moore co. They do not sell whiskey there. The state does allow them to sale commemorative bottles they give you the Jack inside for free. There first place that explained the notes you fine when you drink whiskey.

Yep, JD black label was 90 proof in the '70s and early '80s, then backed down to 86 proof, before they finally dropped it to 80. For at least part of that time, there was a lower-proof version with a green label.

My wife is not really a huge whiskey fan but absolutely looooves the peach and apple crown royal. She says all the others wev tried so far all taste the same with a lot of alcohol. Not all warehouses are federally bonded. On a recent local whiskey tour, they explained the controls the government has on the physical space when bonded. So, that criteria alone would exclude other spirits from being BIB. But, bourbons also have to be from the single distiller and from one season too.

I picked up the new 700 mL bottle of JD BiB a couple months ago and while I was initially not a fan, I definitely warmed up to it as I worked my way through the bottle. The greater tannin presence is certainly noticeable but I'm not really getting the bitterness on the finish. Over the months the sharp banana on the nose has given way to a softer banana pudding with Nilla wafers and the on the palette what was a strong bananas foster has evolved into chocolate covered bananas sprinkled with nuts. Will absolutely buy again.

Also the nose uses different parts of the olfactory sense, to smell different smells. Plain English some smells are better smelled in the front part of the nose and some are better smelled in the back of the nose. The nostrils will often switch back and forth between breathing in air deeply while the other breathes more shallowly so as to give you the best ability to distinguish more scents.
@anthonycampbell41304 жыл бұрын
Nerd time - Why the right nostril? As an EMT, we are taught to first attempt to insert a NPA (Nasopharyngeal airway) in the right nostril because "The right nostril is often preferred for NPA insertion given that it is typically larger and straighter than the left." This may not be true for someone who has been punched on the nose, but it is true for most people. So, maybe, larger and straighter equates to a better sense of smell. I guess size does matter?

So many brands/types are not available to us here, nor is the ability to shop on-line. And the liquor taxes are much too high. I make a run to Branson or Springfield, Missouri twice a year as a result. Hey, Governor Hutchinson! A lot of people are drinkers in this state (not necessarily drunks, mind you, but appreciators of liquor!), and we WILL spend our money in Texas, Oklahoma, or Missouri to get our liquor at more reasonable prices and with better selections.
