Hello everyone, thank you for stopping by and showing support. I hope you enjoy this headbanging video as much as I did! I react to BabyMetal - Death legend of 1997, this is a heavy song, loved the melodies and loved the thrash! The visuals were astounding as usual with them. I hope you enjoyed the video!!

Great reaction. This show was the final step in BABYMETAL transitioning from Idol group sub-unit (it had this narrative running all the way through and even started with a lip-synced dance remix of their song 'Headbanger') to independent metal band - it was also Su-metal's final step in her transition from J-Pop Idol - she was sacrificing her human existence and life as Suzuka Nakamoto, a J-Pop Idol, to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess chosen to lead the Metal Resistance. I think everything else I would have explained if I'd got here earlier has already been said. Oops, nearly forgot to add #notacult ;-)

Good reaction, thanks! This concert was Legend 1997 (SU-METAL seitan sai) aka SU-METAL 16th birthday party and took place on December 21st, 2013 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba. Lyrics are quite simple: "B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L" "SU-METAL desu", "YUIMETAL desu", "MOAMETAL desu", "BABYMETAL desu" "Death death death death death death..." etc Desu (the U is silent so it sounds like the English word death, pretty much means "I am, you are, we are" so they are basically introducing themselves. This was usually an opening song but this time they used it as a closing number... for a good reason :) And... as usual... #notacult Until next time!

And they say this is kawaii (cute) metal. "Babymetal Death" here is the last song in the concert and is used as a big messianic pun finale rather than the usual introduction. This concert ("Legend 1997") was on the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday and as a present she is transformed from a simple Sakura Gakuin school girl and reborn as a Metal Goddess to fulfill the plans of the Fox God, and that obviously requires crucifixion. It was also a transition in real life for Suzuku Nakamoto as a few months earlier she'd graduated from high school and the idol group "Sakura Gakuin (Moa and Yui were still members) and had started to work full time on Babymetal. The use of the Christian crucifixion iconography here confuses and juxtaposes of death and rebirth. This is echoed in the chant at the beginning; "Death, Death... , Su-Metal desu"...etc. The "desu" sounds like "death" to Western ears (which is entirely on purpose), but in Japanese it means "to be" - so they are actually singing " I am Su-metal, I am Yuimetal, I am Moametal, We are Babymetal". So while this initially seems to be all about death it's also an affirmation of existence and being. Death and life/rebirth exist together. Did I mention #notacult?

Great Reaction, and yea you got that some of this song was paying homage to Metallica. There are a couple of Video scenes in Japanese that help explain the theme of the concert and it being Su-Metal's 16th birthday. This song Babymetal Death is the last song in this concert and where Su-metal gives up her human existence and becomes a Metal Goddess to lead the Metal Resistance. This first prologue was earlier in the concert and the Prologue to this song Death is down below also, as you said you couldn't read it. Just keep going down this Babymetal Fox hole and you will have your Mosh'sh pits. Prologue Legend of 1997 concert Birthday of Su-metal "Second Impact" It was the winter just 15 years ago when, in the idol scene, the teen group known as "the SPEED king of Okinawa" had a dominant influence. On December 20th of that year, SU-METAL was born to this world. Concurrently, on December 31st 15 years ago, the legendary band called "invincible" ended its history at the Tokyo Dome. The Fox God said, "It is the birth of the new life that transcends the law of nature, and as its cost an old life shall pass away." Preparing for the upcoming "Metal Resistance", SU-METAL has made many efforts in the "idol" scene. She went to a local dance school since her childhood. She sang "Daring!" while she was absolute cute. She went to the growth-stage-limited school. SU-METAL's undercover propagation in the "idol" scene was executed steadily. Now "the special night of fifteen" starts to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of SU-METAL's birth. Prologue to Babymetal Death Legend of 1997 concert. Legend One-Nine-Nine-Seven. It is the story that, receiving the legendary corset from the god of the Metal, she abandons being human and shall be reborn as a goddess. The gene which has been determined from ancient time is destined to be guided, boarding on the ark of time. The apocalypse prophesied the DOOMSDAY. Towards it, there remains... little time... @@jackcough4149 - Babymetal has huge mosh pits, but they're friendly. It's mostly just circle pits and people run in circles laughing and having fun. I don't know why you're explaining what happens at a metal show to us. It's a little bit insulting to assume that we haven't been to them. I like to get hyped and smash into people in a mosh pit but if you're throwing elbows or punches at me you're going to get very bloody. That is not what it's supposed to be about. It's supposed to be about having fun. Metal can be a lot of things. There isn't one thing that it's supposed to be.
@jackcough4149
@jackcough4149 3 жыл бұрын
I do understand that happens at a metal show. I was just saying that sometimes people take it out of hand and lose control. Mosh pits are great to be apart of but sometimes they can be dangerous. I didn't mean offense in anyway, but maybe some people haven't been to a metal concert before let alone finding themselves in a mosh pit. Thank you for watching and your comment. Didn't mean to upset 🤘

@@jackcough4149 - don't take my comment the wrong way. I am trying to offer feedback. A lot of people assume that because we like Babymetal that we aren't real metal fans. A lot of us are. I'm not the hugest music person ever but i've listened to Metal since the early 90s. I don't walk around in leather and spikes but i've heard my share of metal. I'm an abrasive son of a bitch. If i was mad at you i'd say a lot more than that. :)

@@jackcough4149 - there are way better videos of Babymetal mosh pits than those. The best crowds are from the big arena Japan shows but those are all blocked on KZbin. All we have is some early concerts like 'Legend of 1997' and Budokan and some festivals in foreign countries. Not the best crowds. To see the big arena Japan shows you have to go to other places like Dailymotion etc. Well, i mean the 'live in Japan' version of Road of Resistance is from a big arena Japan show but it's only that song and it's the only one :) They do like 8? of those concerts every year since 2015. The best crowd shots are IMO from 'Metrock 2015'. That was an outdoor daytime concert so you can see it all really well. It's on Dailymotion in full. It's pretty insane. It's real short too, only 33 minutes but they do 7 or 8 songs it's all action.

4:53 I've been this close at the front at a Babymetal show, surprisingly all the way at the front the sound was slightly less loud, because the speakers on the sides of the stage are almost at the same level and the sounds actually in part passes you by. While a step or 2 to the back and you get the full blast. :-) But also the sound was less distorted. 6:42 doesn't look very Satanic to me. It's more a: "what would Jesus do ?" ;-)

@@jackcough4149 Babymetal Death really is an amazing track. This was their opening song for years. Imagine Babymetal at a rock/metal festival lots of curious metal heads going to see them. Some of them coming to see them fail. Then they open with heavy Babymetal Death and nobody there can deny Babymetal is heavy. Even heavier then some of their favorite bands. It really is a sight to see some of the faces at the time. :-)
