Thank you for your review. In my region Delta 2 sells for 1450 USD and Jacckery 1000 pro I have purchased for 875 USD. Jackery 1000 pro works perfect as UPS for my TV set: 65 lg, NAS, router. It never blinks lt never flickers and I use my TV set smooth and continues way. In terms of my audio setup it fails to switch Macintosh mc152 amp from grid to battery. Amp starts wierd internal transformator noise and goes into defense mode. At the same time, Mac amp works fine, starting from jackery battery and switch on grid very well.

I have watched practically every portable battery review you've posted and, though so many of them are for products that seem capable and much lower priced than Jackery, in the end we chose to purchase Jackery (the 1000 and 2000 pros). We use them as safety valves for our off-grid electrical system in case of cloudy/rainy days when our Amperetime batteries get low on juice at night (using that "secret" UPS feature). Yes, they're more expensive and lack some of the bells and whistles of the other units you've reviewed, but in the end there's just something to be said about a larger company who's been in the business for such a long time. Keep up the great work and thanks for helping us sort out all the confusing terminology and myriad options in this growing product category. FYI - if you type in "hobotech dj" you'll discover a kickass electronic musician bearing the same moniker.

I just bought one of these on Amazon and got a $100 discount. This unit fully charges fast. Only thing I'm not sure on yet is the folding handle. It's nice for space saving, but when you tip the unit, there's a bit of heft behind it that can take you by surprise. At $999, I certainly don't want to drop it.

I bought a Jackery 1000 about 18 months ago because of reviews on this channel and a couple others. I actual own two, I also have a 240 I bought a few years ago. When it is time to upgrade or replace I will NOT be buying from Jackery. I have no issue with my current Jackery 1000, it is doing a great job. I do not use Jackery solar panels because I want my panel mounted on top my van. My current panel connects using the Anderson plug & a separate cable that connects the panel cables to the Anderson cable. Super easy, super affordable! Portable panels are a pain in the @$$. I like the opportunity to charge my Jackery while not babysitting solar panels just lying about on the ground. Also, with the input ports on the back & the output ports on the front it is impossible to have this new 'generator' located in a convenient and space efficient manner in my van. Even when I am done traveling in my van I will keep a solar setup at my home as a backup plan but it won't be from a greedy company that offers options to only their portable panels. I'm not sure why it took Jackery so long to offer the folding handle to it's western customers. It has been available in it's Asian market for a few years. I am done with Jackery!!

Jackery wants us to only use their solar panels so that they can make the absolute maximum amount of profit in sales. If people only bought the power station from Jackery, and bought the solar panels from a different supplier, that's less $$ in Jackery's Pocket...

Jackery is the Apple of battery generators. Perhaps understandably since Jackery was co-founded by a former Apple senior engineer, and also why Jackery still uses Li-Ion batteries because he was responsible for developing that technology for the iPhone.

That might would be true but can't compare to Apple they are missing out on alot of sales because many people already have their panels and won't pay for more panels just for their generator especially when there are other systems on the market that are just as good or better

Can you please tell me. If the Jackery 1000 pro is running in Bypass mode (aka UPS Backup) and the Ac supply is disconnected while the inverter is turned on, will the Jackery continue to work until the battery is drained? Now once the Jackery has spent it's battery and shuts down will it turn back on once the AC supply restored will the inverter re-enable? Does it remember its last know state just like a true UPS backup, (Charging and inverting as soon as it regains an AC supply). I am looking to add it as an emergency battery backup for a camera setup in remote location.

Yes, solar is my focus now too. Big time! As it will be for most people worldwide very shortly, I suspect. The panels are good enough now to pick up charge even on cloudy days, after all, and utility prices are about to skyrocket. (Europeans already see it, but the cascade effect in economies is about to come across the pond, I suspect.)

Well I live totally off grid and all three power options are important to me. Ac is important because I use a champion inverter generator to charge batters in my truck camper and travel trailer and of course while I'm doing that I charge my Jackery also. So charge by 12v quite a bit since I drive alot. Solar actually gets these least amount of time out of all three.
@clarencewiles963
@clarencewiles963 2 жыл бұрын
@@sad754yt I live in the city. With that said my neighbor has a grid tied solar. So when his service goes down, so does his electrical service. At this point a generator is good if the gas station has power to pump gas ⛽️. Like I said at this point you need solar and that AC charger will be dead in the water. We’re seeing big new stuff that can recharge in a fewest of hours on AC. I would like to see a system that on solar alone can charge a bank of batteries well before the sun ☀️ passes overhead.

I just ordered a Jackery 1000 Pro and am considering using it as a UPS for my pellet stove (Harman P68, which I think at most draws about 350W during ignition, then drops down significantly, so I'm thinking I could get 8-10hrs of backup). Here's my question - can I simply plug in the Jackery to the wall, plug the stove into the Jackery, and leave it like that for months during the winter, or would I risk significant battery degradation with that approach? I typically run the stove more or less all the time in the winter (Upstate NY, my stove is supplemental heat to my heat pump). Power outages are rare, and tend to happen during high wind periods, so my alternative would be to only set the Jackery up during times when I think power outages are likely...but needless to say I'd rather just set it and forget it, if it won't harm the battery. Any other considerations I should be thinking about here?

Recently found this channel while researching some solar generators…what a great find! Do any of the solar generators or power banks out there actually have a way to see how many charge cycles have been put on the system?
@cory9170
@cory9170 2 жыл бұрын
Here's a question that I've never seen addressed. These batteries are often marketed for use during power outages. For this use case, you'd want to leave the battery plugged in all the time, so it's at full 100% ready to go when there's an outage. But the manual on this station states that for the health/longevity of the battery, charge should be kept in the 60-80% range and topped back up into that range every 3 months (the Ecoflow Delta 2 gives an even worse 30-60% range suggestion). So if you're only interested this battery for power outages, it seems to me that these batteries are not a good solution. And if you were to keep it plugged in all the time against manufacturer suggestion, just how much would this affect battery longevity/performance?

From watching A LOT of different videos and reviews for these, I guess the main reasons are: LiFePO4 is safer, more modern technology, and have a longer life span. Also, for roughly the same price, you get more features from other manufacturers. But as far as why would people want/need LiFePO4 batteries, I guess it would be like buying a car battery. For example purposes only, let's say two batteries both cost $300. One would last for 30,000 miles. The other would last for 60,000 miles. Or in some cases, 90,000 miles. Plus the 60k mile battery has more modern features that the 30k battery does not. Yet they're still the same price, $300. Why would you get the 30k battery over the 60k one? Not mentioning how either company handles issues (I've heard good and bad things about almost all of them). And I've heard from those who have had a Jackery, and used it as their main power station, and because of the approx. 500 cycles, they only got 2-3 years out of it before noticing the capacity loss. With LiFePO4, that would have been at least doubled, in theory.

Solar generators pretty much have hit a good level of performance in terms of inputs, outputs battery life and reliability. I think they need to start focusing on providing configuration options and features that are available on real off grid solar systems. For example an auto on after battery reaches 20% if you drain your battery and it shuts off. Another would be solar prioritize solar charging and set ac charging only if battery reaches 20% and have it shut off at 50%. The ability to adjust ac charging current would help as well. If you use your system occasionally and for emergencies it’s no big deal but if your trying to do an ongoing off grid or subsidize some electric use with the generator these are necessary.

The only reason I would not buy the newer Jackery is because of proprietary issues. Which is why I got rid of my goal zero stuff as well. Ecoflow's big sogen and their own AC, which intelligently works with the Ecoflow to maximise runtime. It can be bought with it's own battery, too, and I beleive that can also be solar-charged on it's own! The AC pulls 400w if it's not used with an Ecoflow product, so is a pretty efficient option on it's own, though there's probably cheaper small window units of comparable performance. Also the few small AC units I've seen tested or just running in videos sound LOUD. The Ecoflow is no exception.

I'm old so weight is a consideration. Lithium ion batteries seem to be lighter in weight and more manageable to get up and down stairs for me. My question is on the number of recharges. I don't usually run my batteries below 50% before recharging. So, will I see the same degradation after 1000 cycles as a person who runs the battery to 15% before recharging?

C'mon, Jackery, take advice from the old Valvoline commercial: If you make things hard on your engine, your engine will make things hard on you. If I had products to sell, and someone was doing highly qualified testing on video, and my products were selling like hotcakes as a result, I'd be giving that person a generous discount code to help his channel (re: return the favor). Jackery and Hobotech have had what looks to us like a good business relationship with Hobo's independent, honest, and forthright testing and reporting, and your products selling so well. Not to mention you get free advice and feedback on what to improve for next time. Why poop on that? Please don't give Hobotech a hard time.

I think I know why Jackery doesn't advertise the UPS feature. On my Exporer 2000 Pro, sometimes the UPS relay doesn't kick in and simply shuts off the inverter. Not very often (on a test that I did when it was powering an air conditioner (600w) on a full battery, it didn't kick in at one time over about 10 times that I unplugged the wall power). So perhaps it's not quite 100% reliable? Anyway, thanks for this review of its little brother. BTW, that flashlight doesn't spell S.O.S._S.O.S._S.O.S_ it spells S.O.S.O.S.O.S.O.S.... Perhaps a stuttering flashlight? 🤣

I have heard several different KZbinrs say that pass through charging can potentially damage the battery in a power station. Can you please make a video addressing this. I don’t understand why they are so different than a traditional solar setup. You are essentially pass through charging 5 or 6 hours a day every day for years on end. Shoving way more wattage than one of these power stations could ever take in. Thanks……..long time fan.
@ayeameen
@ayeameen 2 жыл бұрын
It’s the other way around. Pass through charging means battery is disconnected and ac or dc power is going to the output directly (or output gets priority). Then battery is going through less charging cycle hence it’s better for the battery.

There is a much easier way to test for and PROVE that a unit has a UPS......plug the unit into a different voltage than the unit produces....such as plug it into a power station that only sends 110 volt and then check with your meter.......the unit that makes 120 volts should be showing 110 volts until you unplug it for the ups.

Professor I was looking at an issue a group of solar systems mentions ; of all the power stations out there how many do have a good over voltage protections being tested / how to avoid or what company’s are doing to integrate a thunder volt strike on the solar panels destroying not only the panel but all that surge throw the Input port circuit and will company cover such an accident ? You should add this on your test if it’s a way to test this . Upon checking I had an issue also on the quality of manufacture were my 12v output plug shorted internally It had nothing connected to that port after investigation I discover the -/+ were touching each other of course I was out of luck but I didn’t pay a lot $ but imagine I had invested $1000’s on a power station and this or other repair had to be done how reliable are these brands after 1-3years .

One of the Ankers has a physical switch to make the USB and 12v stay on even without a load. But Anker like to sell different products under the same name (or confusingly close), so make sure you're actually getting that one! I'd have thought a tablet draws plenty enough to be identified as a load, though. Especially if, as implied, it's doing something that will run it's battery out pretty quick if it's not on constant charge

A true UPS doesn't "relay" - a better test would be to connect your router or modem to it and switch the power source. If your Wifi or Modem continues to operate without turning off, that's a better test than a heater...

Hey Tom .. Side Question: The Larger Solar Generators like the AC300/500 or the Ecoflow Pro which are intended more as home Backup systems, Do you know (or know of anyone who knows) if these would be covered By the Solar Tax Credit? I would assume the smaller ones like the Jackeries are not covered, but what about the Large systems that can reasonably be used to build out a solar system? If they ARE, that mean you would practically be getting a 30% discount on those things too.

Thanks so much for your reviews. I found you just today. I'm brand new to the solar inverter/generator scene. Please forgive me if my question is bad. But, will this support a full sized refrigerator? I think what I saw on the Jackery page was that it will run for 1.6 hours. Is that correct? I'm looking for something I can use if my power fails at home, but only for my fridge and freezer. Also, are you able to use it while it is charging? I currently have solar on my house, but that is hooked to th e grid and i'm presently not able to use it off-grid. If you know of a n inexpensive way to utilize my panels off grid (I can't afford Tesla's $15k battery) I would be ever so grateful.

Look into something like a big Bluetti, I'm saving for an AC2000Max, which will run a fridge twice as long, can connect to MC4 connectors (the kind used on residential solar, though if you have a pro install you might not be able to easily access them and go plugging and unplugging... but then you could charge it from the wall and be "using" your solar), and you can get extra batteries for it (for as much as the main unit, mind you) with their own 12v and USB outputs.

I run a 12 volt 54qt freezer/refrigerator. I've never run a full size refrigerator with an AC200 or 1700 watts Jackery. The rain came and the clouds were thick. The Sun wasn't giving me the sunshine through the clouds. AC200 and the Jackery have basically the same amount of watts to run items. My AC200 was below 30% when I switched to the Jackery and the Jackery was down in the 30% range when the Sun finally came out yesterday strong enough to fully charge the AC200 and put a 50% charge on the Jackery 1800. I use up to 30% of the charge over night running just the freezer depending on the ambient temperature. Hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks for another thorough review, Hobo! I'm getting overwhelmed with all these competing brands and units, all the different features, all the considerations we each have to make, and all the 'NEW & IMPROVED' models that keep coming out so rapidly. Criminy! If I'm going to invest $1,500 to $2,000+ for a portable, solar system, I want to be sure I'm not going to regret it in a few months. Whew. Perhaps not useful here, but I happened to be listening to another KZbinr who was sent this Jackery 1000 to review. Her channel is Prepper Princess. I just happened to watch her video yesterday. She was in the middle of reviewing her new Jackery 1000, when her Nevada town lost power due to a wind storm. The Jackery worked for about 1 day, then it stopped receiving charging power from the solar panels, and her other source (can't remember if it was her car's 12V source or a gas generator). Anyway, it FAILED to recharge, at 1-day old. And at the worst possible time -- during a grid-down crisis. Wow! I'll be interested to hear how Jackery responds to her, and the answer they eventually provide for what the heck happened 😏

Well from what I’ve seen the Jackery is rated to be used up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and according to what she said in her video, it was likely to get up to 115 degrees ….that’s outside the specs of battery and that’s likely why it gave out. Which is wack but if they already state that in their information I don’t see any recourse 🤷🏿‍♀️. Lucky for her it was a review product and not something she spent her money on. I’m curious to see how they handle it as well. Because the reality is, an emergency is an emergency ….. and the goal and expectation is for a product this expensive to work in somewhat adverse conditions.

@@jasminem3902 Thanks for your added info about the Jackery rating as "up to 104 degrees farenheit..." I didn't realize their high temp limit was so low! I knew col temps were a problem, and that these batteries needed to have warming devices for travelers in colder areas. Now, I'll have to double-check all the OTHER brands to see if their high temp limits are similarly low for their LiFePO4 lithium batteries. Because I wholeheartedly agree with your statement, "Because the reality is, an emergency is an emergency ….. and the goal and expectation is for a product this expensive to work in somewhat adverse conditions." 😏
