We pit the amazing Jackery Explorer 1000 power pack against a range of home appliances, and see how it handles the challenge....
Buy the Jackery Explorer 1000: campingsecrets.co.uk/recommen...
PLEASE NOTE: Jackery do not recommend exceeding the max power of the Explorer range as I've shown in this video. It can damage the battery in certain cases, and it is generally never a good idea to rely on the trip circuit of a power station.

If you buy lower wattage appliances, you'll be fine. I have a camping kettle and it works great. It takes about 6% battery to boil the full kettle and it doesn't take long to boil either. It'll also power a lower wattage radiator style header, which is also safer than a fan heater or something with and exposed element. It is also possible to use microwaves, fridges, hair dryers, slow cookers etc.... You just have to buy appliances that peak at 1000W or below and there is a lot out there. I think we have gotten so used to thinking bigger is better and many home appliances are 2000-3000W now. As a camping power station, it's really good.

Great message Louis! I totally agree, although I now love the 2000 Pro even more. It charges so fast!

Hi mate - yeah it will power a TV and toothbrush very easily. My wife's used it for her hair (I haven't got any!), and a hairdryer works well on the first (medium) setting but trips the Jackery on high power. Bear in mind that a hairdryer will drain the juice quite quickly (about an hour total), especially if you're boiling kettles as well. Great for a quick blast though.

This is cool, thank you, but I wonder how long it could power those appliances with a fully loaded battery.

What is the actual lifespan of a Jackery 1000 battery. Certainly it would depend on its usage so using it moderately, summer camping and emergency only home use - would you say 5 years, 10 years? Or more ? I would expect that after a set amount of time the battery itself would become less reliable to recharge and eventually would expire.

Interesting question. Jackery say that it can support 500 charges up to 80%+ capacity over its lifetime. So if you use it 25 times per year say then it should last 20 years. If you're using it more continuously then I really wouldn't be able to comment. Hopefully I can report back at a later date on this.

Would it work for a tumble dryer? 😊
@CampingSecretsUK

Electric dryers use anywhere from 1800 to 5000 watts of energy, on average, dependent on the load and cycle configurations. This equates to about 1.8 to 5 kWh of electricity. So no. 👍

That's great! A small travel kettle will work (1000W or less), but a big one won't. Cheers!
