I've known this song since it was released; it was on air pretty much everywhere you went. As someone who used to work in the recording industry, it was cool to see the vintage tools of the trade in the production studio...and the ubiquitous cigarette. Your little banter in the middle made me laugh. A: "What's the matter with me?" D: "Don't worry your image is broken long time ago so yeah just cry my man." A: "I'm a bad guy..." (wiping tears from his face). Love you guys.

Jackie DeShannon was in a relationship with Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) back in the day. She was very popular in the UK in the mid '60s and they met before his Led Zeppelin days. The song, "Tangerine," on the 3rd Zeppelin album is about their eventual break-up.

This definitely was a great time to live ... yes, you would have loved it. We had our problems, yes of course, but it seemed that the majority of the people wanted to be happy and to show love, kindness and consideration to each other. Then to top it all off was the beautiful variety of music given to us by truly talented, hard working artists. It was all REAL. The best music was a little of the 50s, definitely the 60s and 70s and then some of the early 80s. I feel sorry for the youth of today - they don't even realize what they are missing! It is so goid to see you two discovering what we had then and yes, you would have fit into that world so easily. Your genuine kindness and love for each other makes my heart sing! Thank you. God bless you.

"What the World Needs Now Is Love" is a 1965 popular song with lyrics by Hal David and music composed by Burt Bacharach. First recorded and made popular by Jackie DeShannon, it was released on April 15, 1965, on the Imperial label after a release on sister label Liberty records the previous month was canceled. It peaked at number seven on the US Hot 100 in July of that year.

It is widely speculated that Jimmy Page wrote the Led Zeppelin song: "Tangerine" based on his breakup with Jackie DeShannon. It began as a Yardbirds song "Knowing That I'm Losing You" which Jimmy recorded in 1968, and was modified into Tangerine and released on Zeppelin's 3rd album.

Andre, don't worry about your image, you could be crying over a song and drinking a glass of milk. We'd still recognize you are a bad hombre! Hal David wrote this as a protest to the Viet Nam war. Burt Bacharach wrote the music but wasn't confident in its acceptance. Most of what they wrote in that time period was with Dionne Warwick in mind, but she declined to record it initially. This led to Jackie de Shannon being offered the song and her recording it. After it's success, Warwick had a change of heart and recorded it as well. David and Bacharach collaborated on a lot of music that appealed to the postwar generations. There was hardly a day went by when there wasn't a Bacharach/Warwick song playing in the house or my mother's car.
