Spring of 1971 I was in the eight grade and Three Dog Night was my first ever concert. That was the way to have fun. My favorites by them probably Eli’s Coming or Out In The Country.

This song is expressing something that happens and is happening to millions of young people and older people around the world... they went to a gathering with friends or by themselves...and someone told them not to go....and they went anyway and found themselves in a situation like the song expresses and many sneaked out of the place or event or party and never went back. lol hahahaha.....Great song!!!! Three Dog Night is one my all-time favorite Rock bands!!!! I request that the next song you guys listen to is "One Man Band" by Three Dog Night which is FIRE!!! It was a Mega hit for the band!!!! Very Very Hard core song!!!!

This song brings up so many memories of my transition from clueless adolescence to clueless teenager. I cannot imagine how terrified my parents had to have been through those years in the early 70s gotten exponentially more complicated than when they grew up in the 50s. It was a period of wild risk taking, I’m glad I experienced it, and lived through it to become a wiser old guy.

Fun song! Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. I always got a chuckle when I listened to this song. It is so much fun. Thing is, if I was ever invited to a party that was in some way unusual, yeah, my mother may have told me not to go. But my father, with a grin would not have been against going. He would have been okay with it. He would have figured I would be coming away with my next girlfriend. He did always say that my older brother had a lot of male friends that he played sports with whom he brought home. But I was the one who brought home the girls. This started when I was in 1st or 2nd grade with Rosie. 😍

Rumor has it the bands name came from way back when there was no heating in houses, you would invite the dog to bed to keep you warm, really cold night was a three dog night. Thought arnold would like that story.

Actually, the name came from the habit of indigenous Australians, who on cold nights would sleep in a hole in the ground with two dogs and, if the night were freezing, three dogs - thus "Three Dog Night."

It’s an awesome song. The symbolism is fairly obvious, especially to some of us who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. Sugar in your tea- Lsd in the 60’s was commonly sold and consumed on sugar cubes. Scary cigarettes is smoking marijuana rolled into a joint. And well, whiskey in your water is pretty self explanatory! Party’s at that time were commonly loaded up with drugs! Not that I ever experienced anything like that😂!
