She deprives herself of her happiness by bottling it up and handing it to others even though they never appreciate it. And slowly and steadily, she's dying inside.

Yuri's poem was definitely about self harm, and Sayori's was 100% about depression, and trying to make others happy before yourself. I relate to both poems, but more to Sayori. I see it as... giving every part of yourself for others but never letting them see the worst parts of you, because you don't want to be an inconvenience or a burden. Putting up a happy facade, a bright smile, and sunny exterior to appear happy to others so you don't make them worry for you. And the 'echo' part.. how the depression is rooting itself deep inside her head, and making any kind words or pleading friends seem like they're lying.. I relate to Sayori way too much, and I love her so so much. :(

"Save me, Load me" is a subtle hint at telling the player how to get the absolute best possible ending to this game, where Sayori doesn't go crazy in the last act, just thanks you, and then the credits roll without the images being deleted. You have to romance all of them one by one, saving on the morning of the festival before you discover Sayori, before reloading your save back to day one to romance another, rinse and repeat until you've done all three. Even though this doesn't prevent anything from happening and you still have to watch Sayori die, Stare at Yuri's corpse for a weekend and see Natsuki get casually deleted, when the game resets without Monika, Sayori takes over her role, but instead of just looping back on what Monika did, She thanks you for spending so much time with all three of them, says her goodbyes, and rolls the credits sequence. This also gives you a special, handwritten note from Dan Salvato instead of the default poem at the end.

*slight spoilers ahead* yuri's poem is about an addiction to self-harm. the bread represents the addiction itself and the raccoon represents the urges. every time the raccoon eats the bread, AKA every time her addiction is fed or nourished, it gets more and more attached to her. the last line of the poem, "and i feed myself again," isn't supposed to be a happy ending. it's supposed to be a sort of cry for help, as yuri cannot stop "feeding herself," or relieving the addiction.

Okay, even back then I could tell that Yuri's raccoon poem was about self harm. The raccoon is a metaphor for self harm, and the more Yuri gives into that desire (feeding the raccoon) the more it comes back

I keep rewatching this series, and every time I do I find something that I haven’t realised before. I also love how someone who has been depressed can kind of see that in Sayori too, like you can tell that she’s not always as fine as she seems, even tho she’s such a positive character. And the poems are even better! When I started writing down my own poems, I’ve been inspired by this game A LOT. I love how you can tell what type of person they are just by reading their poems. I can relate mostly to Sayori and Yuri, and so every time I read one of their poems, I think to myself “that sounds like something I’ve written before!” They really did a great job with the characters in this game, and everything else as well! :) Also thank u for reading this far lmao
