Handy tip for anyone playing this game now: Entrants will only ever have one "major" discrepency. Forgetting a piece of paperwork but then remembering when asked, or making a wrong statement (length of stay, purpose response) doesn't count as a "major" discrepency. Major discrepencies are things like wrong names, mismatched photos/numbers, etc. There will never be more than one of these per entrant. Once you spot a major discrepency, the course of action becomes clear. If it's a discrepency that is cleared (verifying fingerprints, for example), you can feel safe approving them. If it's a discrepency that CAN'T be cleared (mismatched ID numbers, fingerprints don't match, etc) then feel safe detaining/denying them. You don't have to worry about there being any other discrepencies that will nail you with a citation.

This series is well over 3 years old now, yet I see none of the top comments clarify the Diplomats. Diplomats require an authorization document, and on that document "Arstotzka" must be listed, that means the Diplomat has authorization to enter the country. Later down the line when forgeries are introduced, Diplomatic Authorization documents can also be forged, meaning that you must pay extra attention to the document's seal. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone who hasn't played Papers, Please is interested in trying out lmao.
